Thank you for recognizing the rest of the band. He respected his band and seemed to not try to take all the spotlight. Especially with the guitarist Steve Stevens. You’ll notice in this video Billy stood back during Steve’s solo. And hey if he can play like that I would give him the stage too.
The 80’s were a Blast! Go to the club, great music to dance to, knowing every word (can’t sing-a-long to techno) and never had to worry about your drink being spiked!
Yes it was a blast. People came to the club early and stayed late (well maybe not late if they got some meat). And the clubs were always full. Today (even before this Covid crap) they are always empty. People are sitting home and thay come to the club like an hour before it's closing. 80' were the best imo. And now im old also, which always sucks :D
Billy Idol is a huge ELVIS fan. He even copied his half snarl which Billy has made his own. Billy is one of the best liked Rock Stars. People all over just love him. He's tough. Played SNL with a broken leg. Stood on his own two feet through the whole song. You could tell in his face he was in a lot of pain but he powered right through it.
This song was inspired by a night with Billy Idol drinking Rebel Yell whiskey for the first time with Kieth Richards from The Rolling Stones and the guitarist Steve Stevens was also the guitarist for Michael Jackson and he can be seen in the Dirty Diana video
As far as I know, "Dirty Diana" was his only collaboration with MJ. He worked with Billy Idol throughout his career as guitarist and/or producer as well as doing other projects like movie soundtracks (TOP GUN).
That's so cool! I went to high-school at that time with a guy that looked EXACTLY like Billy Idol except for black hair. That boy mastered the whip lash smile...he was a walking crime against girls. Just one look and he was I'm chsrge.😏
Ok that was an awesome reaction. You both matched the energy of Billy’s performance her. And no, I don’t mind seeing this twice. More Billy Idol please!!!
She occasionally replies to reaction videos if people mention her, but I haven't looked at all 200+ comments to tell you if she did on this one or not.
His Real name is William Albert Michael Robe, he is a British and an American citizen. He had a huge Punk Rock band named Generation X in 1977 but then in 1980 he moved to New York from London. His preschool teacher wrote Idle on his reports so he changed his name to Billy Idol and became his band, he invented it basically with his prodigy guitarist Steve Stevens.
Billy was always over the top. But in his own way he managed looking both very handsome and 100% cool at the same time. Thanks for the reaction. BR from Sweden
I saw him live many times and as recently as 2 years ago. And hes still got his shit together. You two are great! (And i think someone may be a little smitten 😆)
I love your energy! I remember the first time I heard Billy Idol. It was on MTV during Christmas break when I was in 8th grade. I'm almost 52, so if was a lifetime ago. Billy Idol holds up well.
So Billy Idol is the singer/songwriter. Steve Stevens is the guitarist who put's the musical punch into the songs. Their pretty much a team. Like I said below check out "Rebel Yell acoustic" Each compliment the others skills.
In an interview, Billy Idol came up with the last name as "Idol" as an inside joke. He said that if he was going to be a Rock singer, then he better perform to the status of being an "Idol". You can tell that he puts 100% of his energy into the songs that he sings.
Haha my grown son thought he looked like Billy Idol when he was a little guy. He thought maybe Billy was his dad hahaha. When he grew up, married and a dad I got him tickets to see Billy Idol.
Billy Idol never had a 'Band' when he went solo! An he asked Steve Stevens to play guitar on this album! Before he was BIG He was lead vocalist for a band called 'Generation X' A punk band with enough about them!
I remember when Billy Idol was "live" on Countdown back in the 1980s. He was right off his guts. Did d a great act then gave a barely comprehensible interview he was so high.
Billy Idol was the singer for the punk band Generation X. Stevie Stevens recorded a toy gun. Then he put the sound into a guitar synth to get the sound into the guitar solo! Idol often writes songs with Stevens.
His real name was William Broad. He chose the name Idol as a joke on being a celebrity. His band was called Generation X. Fitting name. I loved these guys in HS. Loved your reactions as always
In 2016 Billy Idol did a duet with Miley Cyrus to this song at the age of 61 still rockin' . Another hit from was Mony Mony which came out about the same time as Rebel Yell in 1983 .
You guys are 100% right, Billy Idol was indeed probably the most legit rock star. While in Thailand he barricaded himself in a hotel room with 20 Thai women, a bunch of drugs, did over a 100 thousand dollars of damage and Thai police had to bust in and shoot him with a tranquilizer dart to get him out. The stories of him in his hay day are so excessive that you’d think they aren’t but they very much are and the women were throwing themselves at him.
I love Billy Idol and have since the eighties! He and his guitarist Steve Stevens are a great duo! He is still sexy! His real name is William Broad but Billy Idol is his stage name! I have the Rebel Yell album on vinyl…it’s a classic!❤️❤️
When life gets back to normal you two where ever your at see a live show at one of your venues I know its 2020 soon to be 2021 this music is only played classic rock channels before the " Corona Clap" the was a surge of young cover bands playing these venues Im 45 ys old I think its fantastic that there are 20 yr olds rocking to these covers
Those crazy exploding type noises during the guitar solo is done by the guitarist Steve Stevens using a little toy rocket gun held close to his guitar pickups. I had no idea what that noise was for a good 20 years.....I was sure it was coming from the guitarist.....but had not a clue what he was doing. Steve hunts for them on ebay and buys them immediately as soon as one pops up. Funny.
He's such a gentle , shy and friendly guy . He dated Vanity ( prince ex ) and now dating China Chow. His real name is William Michael Albert Broad, the woman playng was his girlfreind and mother of his son .
Billy Idol is the singer. The rest of the band are hired musicians. And that is Jodi Dozier on the keyboards. She played keyboards on the Rebel Yell album, although I don't know if she only did the recording sessions or if she was also in his touring band
My girlfriend wanted to do this one ☝️ so sorry 2nd upload!!
She was crushing hard on him during the reaction :p
I have no problem watching it again!! 💖
This channel has brilliant content keep it up 🙌🙌
Dancing with myself u will like that song
i cant' blame her. This song is so good.
Billy Idol still looks good and he still sings just like that. He's hot
He sure as hell has aged well!!
It's great to see the young generation appreciating 80s music.
I want to believe they are really into it, but 5% of me believes it's just for likes and views.
Billy was wild back in the day and that deep sexy voice we all loved him. Going to one of his concerts was a wild experience and so much fun.
Billy is the band and that is the group and they still play
Thank you for recognizing the rest of the band. He respected his band and seemed to not try to take all the spotlight. Especially with the guitarist Steve Stevens. You’ll notice in this video Billy stood back during Steve’s solo. And hey if he can play like that I would give him the stage too.
The 80’s were a Blast! Go to the club, great music to dance to, knowing every word (can’t sing-a-long to techno) and never had to worry about your drink being spiked!
And no time to waste with imaginary friends over Facebook lol
What parties do you be going to where you cant sing along. Thats only at raves lol. Yall act like people dont do stuff anymore thats so funny
Yes it was a blast. People came to the club early and stayed late (well maybe not late if they got some meat). And the clubs were always full. Fantastic.I Love, love, love Him.I was around 11 or 12 when I discovered Billy Idol and still enjoy his music to this day.
Incredible! with you the classics never die.
That lip curl was called a "Whiplash Smile". I spent months perfecting that back in HS.(1983) William Broad is his name.
The girl on the keyboards was Judi Dozier.
She occasionally replies to reaction videos if people mention her, but I haven't looked at all 200+ comments to tell you if she did on this one or not.
"Rebel Yell" is always a jam...
Aww, her reaction was so cute. I think she might have a little crush on a younger Billy Idol. LOL 😆
Amazing you can definitely do the spike hair. Both of you should do spike hair on the next Billy Idol
That lip thing is his signature sneer
Yes, indeed! When I think of the sneer, I think of Elvis Presley and Billy Idol.
@@0okamino
That’s because Billy Idol idolized Elvis, and took the lip snarl from him.
Billy Idol is 65 years old today. Happy Birthday Billy!
His name came about from his teacher wrote that William was idle so that how he called himself Billy idol
you are correct he did not want to be confused with Eric idle so chose Idol as his surname
Billy was always over the top. But in his own way he managed looking both very handsome and 100% cool at the same time. Thanks for the reaction. BR from Sweden

Haha my grown son thought he looked like Billy Idol when he was a little guy. He thought maybe Billy was his dad hahaha. When he grew up, married and a dad I got him tickets to see Billy Idol.
He's got sooo many great songs. His real name is William Broad, but he's an Idol for sure :-) He's an icon, and supposed to be a nice guy too

Billy Idol was the singer for the punk band Generation X.
Stevie Stevens recorded a toy gun. Then he put the sound into a guitar synth to get the sound into the guitar solo!
Idol often writes songs with Stevens.

Such a legend!Now a devoted proud Grandpa ❤
FUN FACT:
Steve Stevens (The Guitarist going HAM!) is the guitarist on Micheal Jackson - Dirty Diana.
He was so great in person! I miss those days.
His real name was William Broad. He chose the name Idol as a joke on being a celebrity. His band was called Generation X. Fitting name. I loved these guys in HS. Loved your reactions as always

Yep, your girl is a little rocker🤘. You should react to Billy and Steve doing this acoustic. Their a great team. You two are too.
You guys are 100% right, Billy Idol was indeed probably the most legit rock star. It was actually the Thai army.
Billy's famous smirk, "that little thing he does with his mouth"
You two were terrific. Great job.
Billy Idol "Cradle of Love"
That's the Elvis (Presley) Lip Curl. Debbie Harry of Blondie had the Elvis Lip curl too.

Listened to billy idol in the early 80's high school days 🙌
I love Billy Idol and have since the eighties! He and his guitarist Steve Stevens are a great duo! He is still sexy! His real name is William Broad but Billy Idol is his stage name! I have the Rebel Yell album on vinyl…it’s a classic!❤️❤️

Rebel Yell is a good cover song for bands to do in the live venues its awesome when the they invite a girl on a stage to sing
Some of the best
of the 80's
ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER!
The name 'Billy Idol' is him and his band [members changed over time except him of course].
I saw them live back in the day!
I think the keyboardist in this video is the background singer on the Eyes Without A Face (Les Yeux Sans Visage) music video!
He's such a gentle , shy and friendly guy . He dated Vanity ( prince ex ) and now dating China Chow. His real name is William Michael Albert Broad, the woman playng was his girlfreind and mother of his son .
