The guitarist is one of your guys Steve Stevens out of New York. The interesting thing about Billy is away from performing, he's actually quite a humble person.
Adam Sandler talked about meeting him on The Wedding Singer, and all he did was talk about his kids. And now he's got a granddaughter and does a lot of videos with her, a doting grandfather.
@Wankshaftsbury Yes, they've been together for decades now, and have never really stopped touring. They're a great team. They're still touring now, just on a break as Billy had to get a throat procedure. All reports are they still totally kick ass.
They were together before in generation X, before Billy just went Billy on the world, Steve Stevens is underrated also played the them song to Top Gun the OG.. I was in high school when this came out and it still doesn’t get old for me, probably my favourite artist if all time, they don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
I was obsessed with Billy idol when I was a teenager. He made me feel all the things. And Steve Stevens on guitar... I always thought he was underrated because he is brilliant.
Real name is William Broad. He chose the name Billy Idol because a high school teacher once said in a report, Billy is idle in class. Billy thought it was a cool name, Billy Idle as a punk name, but went with Billy Idol. Steve Stevens, guitarist, is a grammy winner for soundtrack to Top Gun. A few concerts Steve Stevens couldn't make, it takes 2-3 guitarists to play what Steve can do by himself.
Billy Idol has been a well documented fitness fanatic for at least 20 years. He takes his job seriously, he is a rarity these days. A consummate professional.
As a guitarist for 36 years now I was always baffled by the sound he was getting in the guitar solo until seeing and interview with Steve..turns out he used a toy ray gun next to the pickups to get that effect. He didn't have it in this video because they are lip syncing to the original track.
The bridge is the best!! "I walked the world for you, babe A thousand miles for you I dried your tears, of pain, babe A million times, for you" Steve Stephens (guitar) said they wrote in about 18 bars of a bridge in songs they knew were gonna be club hits so DJ's can do their mixes. 🔥
Billy idol is fire 🔥 he is one artist that doesn't disapoint i love his story telling ability and passion for music you guys need to do his hot in the city or his mony mony the official live version
Actually, if you listen to some of his slower songs, his vocals are really excellent! He's got an incredible voice, separate from his screams...which are also great :-)
Billy can move with the best of them. Mony Mony and Eyes 👀 Without a Face two pretty songs worth a listen. The name Billy Idol was inspired by a school teachers description of him as IDLE. The introduction of MTV IN THE 80'S helped to launch the emergence of Billy Idol.
Always liked and listened to Billy in the 80s….white wedding and Rebel yell still played a lot today on radio. He was hilarious in the small part he played in the movie the Wedding singer.
Stevie Stevens is one of the best guitarists that is not really acknowledged except for in the music industry. You didn’t hear his name come up to much until his work with Billy Idol but he went on to play different songs with a lot of massive artists as well. Fantastic. Billy Idol is such a great singer as well.
Billy is among the new gods of Rock n' Roll!!!! "Flesh For Fantasy" is also great too!!!! And I can't believe he walked out on a Billy Idol concert!!! Big Big Mistake...well he is on tour in the States so maybe you get a chance to see before he crokes!!!! lol
Steve Stevens is his guitar player, notice that hairstyle.... he has a song Atomic Playboys.... in the future "Flesh for Fantasy _Idol live, the bass intro guys
@@awezman It was from an interview decades ago from Billy, when he divulged that! Maybe he was making a story up... but it doth makes sense to me, considering his lifestyle (rockstar)!!
If you watch Billy's VH-1 Storytellers concert he tell the story about being at Keith Richards birthday party and seeing The Stones tipping up a bottle with a Confederate soldier on it. It was Rebel Yell bourbon from the U.S. He asked them if they had it specially made for them & if they owned the rights to the name. When they said no he told them Rebel Yell would be the name of his next record.
The laser gun sound is created by holding a toy laser gun (modified with a speed control knob so it matches the tempo he wants) against the magnetic pickups up the guitar, in real live shows you would have seen the laser gun.
@@ChrisB-xm3mg May be right, some gear guy with no proof said he used a Lexicon PCM-41 digital delay in the studio and on early live performances of the song. Sounds credible, but i think it is more of a good guess than fact. Who knows?
Britain's finest, Billy Idol, Rebel Yell was inspired by the rolling stones, Billy saw them drinking Rebel Yell and decided to make a song about it. The audience for this video were shipped in from New Jersey, the video nearly missed its MTV slot because in the original video it showed a teen in the audience drinking from a can of beer. Peace from England 🇫🇴
I think I read somewhere Billy was from Australia. I'll check into it. I do know he is now a bona fide American citizen. That was in the news a couple years back.
Steve Stevens the guitarist played on MJ’s Dirty Diana and he played the guitar in the Top Gun Anthem. Billy is a cross of Elvis (his idol) and hard rock. He started in Punk rock with the group Generation X. This song was also inspired by the story of Sid and Nancy
I saw him do this in a university club about the size of the venue in this video, just as he was breaking through in North America. What a great show and band. Steve Stevens is maybe rock's most underrated guitarist.
The "Rebel Yell" was a Confederate army cry. That shit is poison (the booze). Billy is the definition of a frontman/ rockstar. Guitar player is Steve Stevens. Great player and so much SWAG.
OMG! Billy. And Steve. Was so lucky to see them twice. In the 80’s and again about 15 years ago. MTV was my radio station back then. It was Music Television. Drop everything when a favorite video came on. Waiting for a new release that was scheduled. ♥️ What you see here with Billy is what you got. Very interactive with the crowd. And Steve Stevens is Jagger’s Richardson, Axl’s Slash, Plant’s Page. I want More, More, More.
I love this banger of a song. Whenever I hear it I want MORE! MORE! MORE ! WOOOOOOOW. I saw your reaction video for White Wedding earlier and recommended Eyes Without A Face. It's a different side of Billy Idol, and I think you guys would like it because you go on different tangents with your music choices which is brilliant and this is a very interesting song from Billy Idol. Happy New Year guys and best wishes always.
When Steve Steven's is the guitarist, the solo absolutely does have to be that good. Years before I knew what a great guitar player was, I loved Steve for his stage presence and ability to pull sounds out of his guitar that I had never heard before. He is still one of my favourite players. And he's always interacting with his fans online too.
Missing all that raw 80s masculine energy which has all but disappeared in mainstream music and male performers today. And then he’d go and tone it all down with songs like Eyes Without a Face - which is an equally awesome track.

Lol huge night,. Naked ladies rolled up on stage, a boot hit Billy on the head, he got totally pissed and almost left! But continued to sing... The crowd threw the guy out!!

He plays some kick-ass flamenco-style guitar on the Juno Reactor track Pistolero. It's a techno song, but don't let that fool ya. It rocks.

What a combination Billy Idols deep bluesy voice, with new wave/new music influence and crushing metal tones on Steve Stevens guitar playing.
His real name is William Broad
He is believable as a ROCK star.
He has the attitude and it matches the songs and performances
Fun fact Steve Stevens had a bought a toy ray gun 🔫 from Japan to make that cool whammy sound.
One of my favorite whiskey’s
Back when I was in highschool when this came out, Billy Idol was KING!!!
Now we need Mony Mony to round out the trio. Then you'll be three for three. Cheers from Canada :)

Had the fortune pleasure of growing up in the '80s and have seen Billy Idol a few times. Epic. One of my absolute favorite songs
One of his school teachers called him "idle" and that he was lazy...so he called himself Billy Idol.
The Rebel Yell line was inspired by Billy seeing a bottle of Rebel Yell Whiskey at the bar at one of Mick Jagger's house parties back in the day.
And, that the More, More, More, came from fisting a woman who kept saying that!!
