Couldn't be happier for Simon landing this gig, he's fantastic and suits Purple so well.
I love Blackmore and Morse but Simon deserves a rightful place in Purple. Great player with amazing chops
Shame Of Deep Purple
When Steve start in DP 1994, everyone (except RB fans) was speechless how good Morse is. No doubt I'm unconditional fan of Steve Morse playing and writing skills. Steve went over 60, his right wrist got lot of pain and then the fast accurate alternative picking was over, also the new fresh ideas with Purple were at the end and also the producing of Bob Erzin lowered the guitar of SM...So it is clear that Simon Mcbride Start at DP will be on fire! I Remember when I heard P"urpendicular" for the first time. It was absolutely different, higher dynamics, modern concept of song writing (it was clear the Morse signature) the guitar parts were just "Wow...I'm fanatic Steve Morse fan, but I wish all the best for Simon Mcbride and DP...
Purple made the right choice when they brought Simon in. Frankly, I prefer his playing over Steve Morse.
I met Simon at a PRS event years ago and I told him I was a huge fan of his playing and totally gushed over him. He looked shocked at first! He was incredibly grateful for the compliment and thanked me profusely. He thanked me! It was like he'd never been complimented before, ever. What a cool memory of a really great and humble guy. So happy for him and am loving all the youtube videos of him on stage with such legends. BTW, I'm still stealing licks from him 🤫
I think he's a perfect fit for Deep Purple. I'm finally interested in the band again.
He has EXCELLENT tone and dynamics.
It's like hearing Gary Moore play with Deep Purple
Steve Morse gave deep purple new life after the great blackmore left, Steve found his own feed, playing great, here simon really bringing an hudge dynamic to the band, great, amazing player, much pedals, delays, octafuzz, ect... some effects blackmore used in his 80s rainbow days, so cool he make an old band living again
It's just so cool that Deep Purple is still going strong, playing big gigs, and writing new songs.
One of the finest guitarists and such a nice dude. Great gig for him.
Simon is so awesome, glad he's gotten into such a high profile shot--hope he keeps up the solo albums too!
Great addition to the band. Looking forward to a new album.
Simon is a great player and nice guy. He deserves this and when purple pack in he'll hopefully be on top of every big rock bands gunslinger hitlist
Lovely run though by Simon, he comes across as a very nice down to earth person. Heard/seen him a few times before joining Purple, so glad he got the job he's a great guitarist and hopefully will bring back a more rockier edge to the band
So happy for him. Still remember him playing with his 3 piece band in Joldelund/Germany and was blown away.
Remember seeing Simon supporting Gary Moore at Sheffield City Hall around 1999/2000. Was blown away then. Congratulations Simon. 🎸💪🏼
Absolutely brilliant guitarist!
The best guitar tone I've ever heard live: congrats Simon! I got to see him live with Deep Purpple at "Monsters of Rock" in Brazil and it was fantastic!
