This comment is spot on. Tenant is one of the best Doctors, but Capaldi is the best. According to what i am watching at the time, the best Doctor is only ever between Capaldi and Tom Baker.

David Tennant is just the best.
I think we all knew the doctor would be number 1 but kilgrave...... That was the most unsettling, creepy and scary (in the best possible way) performance from a character I've seen in a long time. I never thought I'd not want to watch David because his performance was so creepy, it's a true testament to his acting skills.

Yeah I loved his Killgrave So much it's ridiculous. I can recommend 'Secret Smile' if you like him in creepy, predatory roles. He truly made my skin crawl in that one.
I can't see a screen shot from Secret Smile without shuddering. Much more disturbing to me than Kilgrave.
I really wanted to like Jessica Jones, but Kilgrave was too creepy for me. I'd get nightmares. I couldn't watch it.
Have you seen his performance in Secret Smile? It is far more creepy and chilly than in JJ imo. David is a truly brilliant actor that's all I have to say.

10, Kilgrave, and Hardy 100% deserved top 3 - although I _do_ think Hardy and Kilgrave's places should have been switched. Might just be personal preference there though
Although now Crowley definitely crowds out something. Demon in skinny jeans and a Bentley is totally a top 3 role

This guy... He just seems lika a inspirationally good guy. He IS The Doctor! I think if I had the chance meeting a famus person just to hang (someone not a comidian) I think I would have choosen Tennant.
Definitely. When you see him in interviews, you can see how humble, kind and down to Earth he is in real life, a complete contrast to his usual hamminess when he acts.
Killgrave made me feel unsettled the second he stepped on screen. I had yet to see him in Doctor Who, so I had no idea what his acting capabilities were. The first scene of him in full sent shivers up my spine, manipulating that family so casually, stating everything with such power.

I have never seen Recovery. I'm a big fan of David Tennant, I loved and still love his Doctor, Kilgrave is incredible, and his performances in Good Omens and Broadchurch were fantastic. But never in my life have I seen a piece of acting as powerful or emotional as the clip you chose at 5:34. I have never had a clip with little-to-no context have me breakdown in tears like Tennant saying "What if I can't make you happy anymore?" in that clip. He absolutely nailed what it's like to try and talk while weeping uncontrollably, with the high pitch and the facial position and the slightly slowed cadence. He just looks genuinely, with no hint of falsehood, like a man going through an intense breakdown at the thought that he might disappoint his wife because he doesn't know who he is (that's what I get from context, again I haven't seen it yet).
I am going to watch Recovery, and I expect to cry many, many times. And I hope I never become desensitised to that moment.
I will tell you now - it is a hard watch. But a worthwhile one and one of the beat depictions of the after effects of brain damage I have ever seen.

Predicted the top 3 exactly right. Genuinely scared me as kill grave. Weird how he was my childhood hero and now genuinely scares me as a villain. Brilliant actor.

Considering the whole movie was improvised, that was a pretty impressive performance.
I've seen Recovery. It's the kind of movie you really really really have to be in the mood for. That moment the truck hits him still makes me jump.

Although it was _Doctor Who_ that put David on my (and quite a few others') radar, I wouldn't have ranked the Doctor as his best performance of the ten. I'd lean more towards _Broadchurch_ or _Recovery_ as number one.

David Tennant wasn't 'casted' in the role of Dr Who, he was cast. Casted isn't a word.
Lee Richardson according to the OED casted was a word used from middle english up until the 16th century. Last time I checked that was a fucking long time ago. The correct word he should have used is cast. Unless of course he is some kind of liguistic genius who's being ironic. Which I highly doubt. He was wrong and in pretty much every single one of these he narrates he fucks something up. Which is shit really.

Besides the Doctor, Tenant's best role is Hamlet, in my humble opinion.
I have not got it on DVD yet but my mum said he was amazing as Richard II. She saw it in one of the cinemas.
I love Tennant but where on Earth is United, in which Tennant plated former Man Utd assistant manager Jimmy Murphy. The scene with him crying in the stairwell gets me every time

I would add Campbell Bain in Taking Over the Asylum, his first role at age 22 - a wonderful performance. Since this video was filmed, I'd also add Crowley from Good Omens and Dennis Neilson from Des. On the Des DVD, there's an interview with David intercut with clips of his performance. It's fascinating how in character as Des, he manages to have dead eyes (which he doesn't him as himself). I believe he's one of the greatest actors of his generation.

Yesssss, David deserves this 100 and 10 percent. So brilliantly talented and just so awesome. He will always be my doctor, always my favourite, and always able to make me smile. He's been amazing in every single role he's played. So underrated, I love him. He's amaaaaaaaazing!
I was hoping top see Secret Smile on here. Might have been my firste xperience with Tennant and really enjoyed that mini series and of course Taking Over the Asylum
knew the top 2 had to be the top 2 :) also feel like his voice acting roles in Star Wars: The Clone Wars ( a droid who helped younglings build their lightsabers ), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ( Fugitoid ) and the new Duck Tales reboot ( Scrooge McDuck ) deserve honorable mentions
I also rather liked Tennant's portrayal of the barrister Will Burton in the BBC One dramatic miniseries The Escape Artist.
That one earned him a BAFTA Scotland.

I´d move his Hamlet higher, it´s the best one I´ve ever seen. He is the first actor who made me empathise with the Prince of Denmark because he made him seem actually human.

This man’s ability to add the gleam of insanity to his eyes is probably one of the main reasons he often gets cast a a psychopath or killer (Jessica Jones, Bad Samaritan etc.)- just look at his face at 4:14
