Hugh was changing the way he even pronounced the words to certain songs.....his guitar had all but disappeared from there live sound......very synthetic simmonds drums....keys and a very conventional bass sound......anything before the feline sounds shite.....
I wish I had have there.A class act.what a band when playing live.I love the Stranglers and I always will.😎
The Stranglers have such a fantastic back catalogue, great to hear Nuclear device. Such a tight band.
I only managed to see them twice. They played well together like listening to the album on my record deck.

Burnel’s bass sounded shit by this era and the introduction of a brass sector killed it for me.
