I watched a video the other day of someone repairing a laptop that had had a repair attempted by someone else who rushed the repair due to not wanting to charge the customer the correct amount so they tried to cut corners and do things quickly which back fired!! Less Speed More Haste as the saying goes 😎 As always, another great repair and good use of fault-finding skills 😊
Most Interesting. I like the way you "think" out loud when diagnosing the problem. I realise if one is going to work on smc then a microscope is definitely required, at least at my age.
Excellent work! Ps. Metal tweezers by the battery connector is a recipe for disaster. I once slightly touched metal tweezers to an iPhone battery connecter to remove it and caused a short. Seen a puff of smoke. Thankfully it still worked.
What is the yellow plastic called and what is it called, also adding flux on the mosfet using same method would be cleaner? Also, when you check for short circuit to ground, are you using Ohm testing on the multimeter? Laslty, thank you for simply the best, most eloquent and least blabbering tutorials Sorin, 🎉❤
Hi Sorin what is your fixed price for repair whether managed to fix or not?cos is prices are challenging as you said you may find a fault and we don't know after is going to work or not
I got it for free searching on google, i believe it was on a forum, can't pay for the schematic, i'm loosing one day of my life every time i'm buying a schematic
@@electronicsrepairschool Must be that the low side mosfet was shorted drain to source and the high mfet was shorted source to gate but not source to drain.
I have a MSI KATANA GF66 11UG RTX3070 laptop. My problem is that the graphics card is limited to 45 watts and does not exceed that, which causes a lack of frames while playing.
Generally (not always) called high side when the mosfet is connecting a positive rail to something, called low side when the mosfet is connecting the something to 0V common or to something lower than the positive rail.
The customer is right, I'm Romanian and I've had the same problems with the prices and costs of a laptop repair. There are a lot of scammers here who charge a simple defect even ten times more than they should. Moreover, they use cheap Chinese chips for which you wait more than 3 weeks, while you can find the same components in Europe at slightly higher prices and the waiting and transport time is 2...5 days. This is for a much bigger profit. I was asked for 160 euros for a display cable that I bought from France for 100 euros with fast shipping, a 17.3 inch LCD display they asked for 200 euros and I bought it for 120 euros and so on ... In my case, they (3 local repair shops) ask for successive problems, one after the other, a lot of money compared to the price of a new laptop. This shows a lot of stupidity and greed on their part

you think those repair services work for free, they have to pay rent, the workers, the bills, taxes, etc.... you can't repair something and ask 10 euro....or 20.... time is money and it's not only the money you pay for the part but also for searching the part, mounting the part, etc....

Still makes no sense having 'great hardware' that cannot be repaired. Nice job showing the world how sad Apple is for not being able to repair their own products.

Hi Sorin what is your fixed price for repair whether managed to fix or not?cos is prices are challenging as you said you may find a fault and we don't know after is going to work or not
it seems to be necessary to solder it very well in place. no? or maybe two solders are running through each other. or is this not possible?
Sorin, did you have to pay for those schematics/models or can anyone find these somewhere online? Love your videos, keep up the good work!

Was the gate connected to ground through the coil, L8102 ?
No, that it will show 54 ohms, the coil resistance to ground

if a customer ask for the price before fixing, always give a price for attempt repair which will be fixed all the time, then u will add other things

Here in philippines is always price first before repair.. We talk first the contract before doing the job😮
charge a diagnostic fee than charge accordingly and if theres extras let the customer know ....
Hi Sorin. May I ask what do you mean when you say High Side MOSFET and Low Side MOSFET, how is it defined

To disconnect the battery power of the macbbok, you just need to disconnect the battery flex cable not the big flat screw.
