We felt your warm tears and the burning eyes from crying so much. Like someone else said in the comments, " welcome to the club" Alana-San Misako-chan,, you have my respect. Episode 10 = foundation for the movie. You are ready to go Alana-san Misako-chan.
As much as I suffered a lot through the Ann birthday sequence, I think that the line of Violet, "I had to hold back...", is what make me cry even more. You can see how much she has changed since episode 1 and it's heartbreaking.
This episode, everything about it is amazing and masterpiece. It's amazing that it makes you feel emotional and cry with those characters in 24 minutes is just beyond impressive.
Exactly. I can't remember ANY MEDIUM that would bring so much tears so fast! And when I say fast it doesn't only mean that one episode of anime is 20+ min, but I am talking mainly about that you do NOT even have to know the previous plot to enjoy this episode (it's not the case in most cases, when you have to know a significant portion of plot of a film/movie/book to feel something, but in case of Violet Evergarden episode 10 you don't have to know literally anything, you can just tell somebody to watch just episode 10 of Violet Evergarden and it will work - I know, because I tested it on my friends, who don't even watch anime, and they still cried). It should be put in the Guinness World Records!
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE! This episode hits your heart like a truck, god dammit. No matter how many times I'd watched, doesn't matter if you know what will happen, episode 10 never fails to make someone cry. The fact that Violet held back her tears while in that mansion is insane.
"I had to hold back my tears the whole time I was at the mansion" always hits me, when I think about how nice Violet interacted with the little girl :,(
This episode is the one that really made me go and hug my mum immediately after watching it, tears flowing and asking for forgiveness. It's a bittersweet episode but never forget this episode. It will totally payoff down the road and it's worth it. That's why I rank this the best episode. First time among all the anime that I watched that made me go and hug my mum.
Not gonna lie, I watched episodes 8,9,10 in one sitting. After finishing episode 10 I was hella depressed and it completely broke me. The build up of constant feels came to the tipping point at the end of this episode when violet broke down and I completely bawled my eyes out... I very rarely get teary eyed. I had to take a month off in order to finish watching the series.
It's funny how people say Violet Evergarden is a depressing show. As someone with a chronic depression I've always found it an incredibly uplifting story. The entire premise of the show is about overcoming loss, grief, and tragedy, and finding a way forward, putting your life back together, and remembering those you've lost fondly.
@@LadyDoomsinger ya, it's more like it's really sad, and make you feel a lot of empathy for the characters. There's not really that much actually depressing stuff besides the war.
Oh, man. I've been waiting for this one. It's like the entire ethos of the anime boiled down into one episode. Beautiful, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and bittersweet all at the same time.
This is honestly one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful pieces of media I have ever watched. It's the kind of episode that brings everyone to tears, regardless of whether they usually cry or not. This episode even got referenced in a video game I play - and an already emotional moment in that game got amplified 100 fold. And the episode shows how far Violet has grown as she was crying for the girl.

I have never heard a game referencing this episode or Violet Evergarden in general!
A mother's love is so beautiful. I miss my mother everyday, and I sometimes read the emails she had sent to me during my time in school. This episode while very emotional, also serves as a reminder that the love a mother has for her child runs deep.
I think what first broke me was when Ann started blaming herself for her mother's sickness, flailing against Violet in anguish, and then crying out for her mom when she's told that nothing can be done (the way Kyo Ani animated her in that moment and the fantastic voice acting, it's like you could really feel her little heart breaking 💔😭) Violet also breaking down at the end just finished me off afterwards. Def one of the most beautiful and heartrending episodes of anime I've ever watched. I'll never forget it.
Though you can sort know what to expect, the story still manages to surprise you and hit you harder than you thought. It’s like getting punched in the throat. But it’s so beautiful, and Violet is a beautiful person.
Me too! I watched it for the first time years ago (in 2018), and I bawled my eyes out. Since then, EVERY TIME (even during reaction videos) I cry. I know exactly what and how happens, and it still gets me every time. Minor spoiler, but it's literally the first scene of the movie: the final 'Violet Evergarden: The Movie' from 2020 sort of continues the plot of episode 10, and that movie was almost completely original in comparison to the Light Novel, so Kyoto Animation HAD to know how massively popular that episode was.
@@piotr004 true and boy don't get me started on the movie! 😭 The ending when bro ran after Violet and confess his love to her I couldn't hold it anymore. @@Twoseconds001 True! The movie was also perfect. It's a rare case when EVERY installment of a story is top tier, and even the changes Kyoto Animation made to the original Light Novel are beneficial (in most cases people complain "manga/light novel was better", but I do not hear such complaints for Violet Evergarden). Not only the final 2020 Movie is almost entirely original, but I am thankful Kyoto Animations made some changes in the series too (for example, deleted more unnatural fighting scenes like the idea that Violet would carry an axe). One of the most impactful changes was the change of order: the LEGENDARY episode 10 happens as first Violet's quest in Light Novel, and while that story was not changed, it is probably more impactful for a viewer as episode 10 instead of episode 1, because the viewer know Violet and the world better (but the story itself is so great that even my friends that do not watch anime, and haven't watched previous episodes, still cried, when I recommended them episode 10). Living up to the high expectations is incredibly hard, but Kyoto Animations delivered it! It was so realistic when Violet couldn't say anything more than just "Major!" during that scene in water you mentioned. When so much emotion accumulate in you, then, when it's time to vent them out, you are so overwhelmed by them that you can't even say much. The whole legacy Violet left (indicated by the post stamp with Violet on it) is like she immortalized herself. I still have a theory that the man working at that post office on the island (who told Daisy about Violet) is Violet and Major's son. Why? Because he knows everything about Violet, has her doll pin, and even knows the thumb-up gesture 👍 only Yuris taught Violet. Man, every time I watch, even clips of Violet Evergarden, I feel so much nostalgia and emotions...
When I first watched this episode I was heaving sobs. I will get misty-eyed occasionally when a show is emotional, but I was WRECKED. I was physically exhausted afterward from crying so hard.
This episode will be forever engrained in my soul. Its just so masterfully done with the final out come of all the letters being for Ann in the end. This is by far one of the greatest shows created but this episode really nailed it in the coffin for me. So much so that as soon as it was done I bought the series and two films on blu ray instantly incase it ever gets removed from Netflix Lol. Just a masterpiece of story telling.

cant reaally believe that i am a 35 year old guy and have watched this episode 40 times and every time it still hits me like a truck. What an amazing show overall. i really wish it didnt have that romantic main storyline in the back and was more like a coming of age story. still it is among my absolute top 10 shows tv or anime or anything of all time. such a great quality overall
One thing i realized about those letters, is that theres a high chance that those words were written by violet, n not the mother. Rmmbr in the earlier eps where its stated that auto memory dolls - unless requested otherwise by their clients - will usually write what their clients have in their minds but cant say it out loud in words? Violet had 50 letters to write in 1 week. Her client was sickly. Both of them (and maybe even the maid) put their heads together to write those letters. My theory anyways. But if anyone can prove otherwise, ill be gladly humbled😊
I must have skipped this video. I started watching Alana's reaction to ep 11 before realize "wait, where is 10th?" I watched this episode and reactions to it a hundred times. I always, ALWAYS cry at the end 😭

I KNOW DMAN WELL THAT AM GONNA CRY MY EYES OUT AGAIN💔
This one left me in an emotional CRATER. I love it, but it is a rough ride.
Its one of the kinds and empathy episode in the whole animeworld.
there are even 2 movies and they are amazing
I've waited a long time for this moment
So damn beautiful and so DAMN painful.
cant reaally believe that i am a 35 year old guy and have watched this episode 40 times and every time it still hits me like a truck. What an amazing show overall. i really wish it didnt have that romantic main storyline in the back and was more like a coming of age story. still it is among my absolute top 10 shows tv or anime or anything of all time. such a great quality overall
I love this anime more than my life 🙂😭😭
I still cry every time
Such an amazing episode
Damn it, this part still makes me tear up
One thing i realized about those letters, is that theres a high chance that those words were written by violet, n not the mother.
I started watching Alana's reaction to ep 11 before realize "wait, where is 10th?"
I watched this episode and reactions to it a hundred times. I always, ALWAYS cry at the end 😭
She’s finally watched ep10 ❤. Anne’s story tho 🤧🤧😭😭

Finally my favorite eps:).., oh don't forget this anime has a movie, don't miss it ^.^
