    Great video. I agree on Honda, by far the best combo on the market. I owned a 2012 Sportsman 400HO, sold it and bought a 420 Rancher SRA. After a tire upgrade, the 420 rode as comfortable as the Sportsman. Sold the Honda because I did not ride it enough. Miss it, want a 520 footshift.

      well Honda are great for long term. power wise canam are hard to beat and they are close to the Honda far as reliability . ive owned both and not have a foot shift 500. if you want speed canam 850 outlander hands down.

    I like this video like most of your videos. You have a wealth of knowledge on the different bikes you've owned. I know your a big Honda fan as so am I . I've owned a rancher and my son has a Rubicon and we love them. I purchased an 850 highlighter back in 2019 because I'm a-lot heavier than I used to be and wanted more power. I absolutely love the bike and have had very minimal issues and I run deep water with it just like my Honda. I'm curious to know why in this video you said the 850 highlighter you owned was a mistake. All the videos I've watched of it, you say a-lot of good things about it and how reliable it was, you seemed impressed with the gearing, cooling, snorkeling and the front posi. You also stated that it was the best mud bike in it's class for the money.

    Quick question...living in the high desert, I can't justify snorkeling my machine. I do however encounter an occasional creek crossing. So, what would be the maximum water depth I could safely go in a fully stock non-snorkled Rubicon 500 DCT? The manual says only 10 inches, I believe.

That Can-Am feels like you're riding on a cloud, and it's so smooth also. Why did you get rid of your Can-Am & Polaris? Do they break down a lot? I'm just curious. With clutch mods the gearing can be lowered.
      Stock is 2.4 turns if primary to 1 of secondary. With clutch mods and machine work I’ve got mine to 3.1 to 1 so that’s 29% and you have an extra 200cc’s over a Honda so you got more nuts to turn them. Turns 29.5 OL2’s in nasty peanut butter with ease. But yes the down side is that’s it… can’t go bigger, can’t get anymore GR. Could do floorboards and 31s if you had Mostly water and not peanut butter mud. Honda seems like the sky is the Limit

    I like my rubicon, but the main reason people get rid of their Honda for something else is because they are slow af. And especially so, after a gear reduction. I think Honda would make a lot of people happy if they would just finally come out with at least a 45+ hp four wheeler. That 2ish or so hp gain you get from the 500 to 520 is unnoticeable. Waist of engineering and manufacturing.

    Soo confused? Why spend 10000 on a atv that has less horsepower and torque then a common lawn mower. Then try to turn it into a Mud machine.. blows my mind. You could detune a Polaris 850 or canam 850 and stock would work better then this by 1000%. Sad that Honda and Yamaha are still making atvs that belong in 1995

    • @MudPuppyOffroad
      @MudPuppyOffroad  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apparently it doesn't take much to blow your little mind. I'll play along though and try to answer your pointless question. It has everything to do with gearing and reliability. On average a Honda puts more torque to the ground per day than both of the vehicles you are talking about because hondas actually work and there are many options for low gears. It's literally that simple

    • @xGR1MxREAPERx

      @@MudPuppyOffroad per day? Lol.. dude STFU? Just cause you have problems
      With canams or Polaris doesn’t mean everyone does? My riding group has 8 canams 2 Polaris and 2 Yamaha. On average the Yamahas are broke the most? Which is crazy as they are usually super reliable. Couple years ago it was the Polaris’s. It changes time to time depending on what model you have and how you take care of your shit. Also luck. The Honda couldn’t put more torque to the ground with a hellcat engine. Just cause you have portals doesn’t make a Honda better? You can put portals on anything bro. Lol. Your back on a canam now and it’s the shitty kids model 700 new style. In a few months you will talk shit about all canams and buy another useless underpowered honda because you bought the kids base model canam. • @JP-ec9rl
    @JP-ec9rl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not dissing the Honda. They're good machines but five years later you're still bitching about the can-am's. Meanwhile I've never broken mine. I've really pushed the limits of my '09 800 renegade And never had an issue. And you're simultaneously having to do a bunch of mods to try to keep from breaking and drowning your Honda.
    I'm thinking maybe you're just biased? The belt drive is definitely a limitation of any machine that uses one. But!
    You're definitely exceeding the manufacturer's theory of operations, regardless of brand.
    If you swamp and abuse a machine, eventually it's gonna break.
    You haven't really demonstrated the reliability of Honda because you haven't kept one long enough to really find out. Honda's are reliable. I've owned several of them, that's not the point. You haven't shown that one Honda can take that sort of abuse year after year.
    No machine can take the abuse of submersion in mud and water in the mechanicals and electronics. Eventually it's going to find it's way past seals and repairs will have to be done.

      @@MudPuppyOffroad you've had 3 Honda's according to this video. Why'd you get rid of the first two if they're so superior?
      You're hunting for the perfect machine for what you're trying to do and there isn't one. Mudding is high maintenance on any machine.
      We've seen you ride.
      My guess is, you either break everything or it doesn't have the built in performance to do what you want it to do. The Honda doesn't break because it's tame. It's built that way specifically for reliability. No horsepower and moderate torque.
      Keep this Honda for five years and do it how you do it. Let's see if it holds up to the abuse?
      You're calling one thing junk but anyone who's been around a while and knows a thing or two about machines and off roading can see that you're not representing an evenly matched comparison.
      Your Honda with arched A-arms when you had the 2016 can-am was like comparing apples to oranges. When you had the xmr, did you put the waterproofing work into it like you are on this Honda?
      Sure the visco-lok sucks for predictable and reliable "full time" traction. I'll grant you that. It's designed for a purpose and marketed for that specific consumer. For 99% of riding and riders, it performs fine. For the other 1% that's what a torque lock is for.
      If you get a belt wet and then abuse it, you're gonna smoke it and the clutch.
      Everyone already knows that.
      Sorry but from what I've seen, I gotta call bullshit.
