Love my 2018 Titan Pro4x. Went on a crazy weather trip 600 miles round trip to and from Devil’s Tower and this bad boy handled everything with no issues while pulling a 5500 lbs 22’ travel trailer. Talking crazy high winds, heavy rain, SNOW?? The titan really is an under dog. Still going strong at 80k miles ❤
I have a 21 Titan as well. I tow a lot. The best setting you can do for the towing are driver assistance > parking aids > sensor select front.(this one does not reset when turning the truck off) then go to driver assistance > emergency brake. Disable the rear. Emergency Braking will reset after the truck is restarted.
Putting it in tow mode also activates the engine brake, which is fantastic. Leave it in tow mode, regardless of interstate or not, it will help with the transmission not searching for gears, make it last longer, it changes the shift points also. Granted, it will drop your mileage slightly. Well worth it though. If the rear of the truck is sagging, when hooked up, you need to readjust the wdh hitch. I agree with you on having to press the button when backing up every time. It wouldn’t have Nissan much, for the truck to recognize when a trailer is hooked up, and automatically shut that feature off, for the rear sensors.
Yes, I tried to show the engine brake on video but didn’t really get good clips. Tow mode is no good on the interstate. I would not recommend running any vehicle at that high of an rpm. It’s not necessary when you’re just cruising. The trans is not that active, especially if it’s relatively flat or you pay attention to throttle input and there is no strain in the engine when you already have momentum. I mentioned having to play with the wdh adjustments when the rear sags. The camper dealer installed it originally and the truck really squatted so I’ve made adjustments, but the Titan is known to sag a bit so still highly recommend air as support. Obviously depends on the shocks you have too! Overall though we do like the truck and it’s been good for us for any purpose we’ve needed it for.
@@the_next_adventure Yes, I’m impressed by the engine braking on this vehicle. I agree, the Titan is underrated. The numbers don’t always tell the story! BTW- I like the look and functionality of the topper. I’m torn on whether or not to get one. Currently have nothing on the bed. Made a set of sliding drawers, wound up taking them out. I do see the potential for them.
Good looking set up. I always liked the Nobo products. This is the primary reason i went XD (24 pro4x). The XD gives you the payload. Towing cap is plenty but what gets you into trouble is payload. Mine is fully loaded and comes with 1830 lbs payload. The tongue weight cap in mine per my trim is 1080 lbs and pulling a 7k trailer (fully loaded) puts you right at that cap even in the XD. I played with my WDH to give me some wiggle room. The drivetrain in xd and non xd is stout though. I truly think Nissan engineers were quite conservative. Also the final gear ratio on the XD gasser is built for towing at 4.08 vs 3.69 in yours. This makes a huge difference in initial take off. Someone mentioned sumo springs and I can attest, they are great for infrequent towing. I have them on my first gen tundra. Cheap and give you good support.
I have a 2018 pro 4X XD and I can’t say enough how much I love my Titan. I have airbags on mine and highly recommend. I pull 10000lbs often on a gooseneck dump trailer no problem.
Hello! I have a few questions, with adding the 3 inch leveling kit , do you still have full warranty? Also, have you noticed any changes in the transmission since lifting? (knocking on wood nothing horrible) what kind of 3 inch leveling kit did you use for your PRO4X? RSVP please!
Check out the other Titan videos on this channel for more details, but it’s a rough country kit. Nothing voids a warranty. Claims can simply be denied, but they have to prove that a particularly failure was caused by a specific modification. The dealer said generally anything 3” and under will not cause problems with warranty.
Just finished watching some of your other videos!! I love your content & all of my questions have been answered! Thank you , & you’ve just gained another subscriber from me! 👍🏽
Did i miss the links for the sway and tow bars? I have a 21 titan S 4x4 crew cab was looking at getting a camper or enclosed cargo trailer. only 24k miles waiting for 50k to lift and swap tires/blisten shocks etc.
I have the same year Titan and looking to get that trailer as well but can't risk using weight distribution hitch in Colorado. Too many dirt roads with high grade elevation. I know people who bent trailer frames doing that. Do you know your hitch weight loaded with water and whatever cargo you may have? specs show 734 empty but I would think that would be 100lb more
I assume over 800 as well. You can always disconnect the arms when you start getting into rough terrain. The wdh are more for stability and control on the highway anyway so your front end doesn’t float
@ great! I have. 21 p4x i tow. grand design imagine with. I’ve added road active suspension which honestly in retrospect it didn’t really need for what i tow. I’m mostly concerned with towing in the mountains, which we haven’t done yet.
The blue control I think you’re looking at the switch panel for the accessories lights. You can find that install on the channel. The digital readout is part of the brake controller which comes with the tow package equipped titans
I mentioned miles at 85,000. All direct injected engines get carbon build up so I’m sure there is some but it doesn’t seem to effect performance yet. catch can helps as well.
It seems to hold 9th just fine. Some people have said theirs is always searching for a gear, but I haven't found that to be the case, especially if it's relatively level and/or you pay attention to throttle input.
I like how you talked about all the weights. But you are wrong on the payload. You probably have around 1250 lbs of payload and you didn’t mention the added weight of the WDH and topper. That is probably another 200 lbs. no doubt the truck feels good. My 21 pro4X also towed great. In case you didn’t know if you are in fact over weight and someone runs into you, the insurance will not pay anything.
@@the_next_adventure thanks but I didn't put that on it. I bought the truck second hand. A old man had it before me, its my understanding he was a oil guy and had a 3 to 4 hour highway mileage daily for drive. Im from Oklahoma city btw
@@the_next_adventure 1. The friction bar wdh is ineffective. 2. Can't back up and turn with that bar installed. 3. That wdh requires you to drill holes into your frame. I ran eazlift on our first trailer, then switched to equalizer on our last 2 trailers and have never looked back. Equalizer is a much superior wdh as compared to eazlift.

Why disable rear parking brake?
@@the_next_adventure not the rear parking brake but the emergency braking assistance for when your backing up.

You should do maximum tow test at maximum interstate incline. Curious to see how it compares to the big 3

Great question
Have you had any transmission issue with the Titan ?
Not yet knock on wood
how is the truck holding up?
Very well-knock on wood
