Watching this with Sarah on our 14th wedding anniversary and she says... "You know, we're going to be just like that in a few years." 😂 Love the banter, you two! Hope we get the opportunity to share the trail one day. 👍

Gwynn cracks me up 🤣🤣🤣 That weather (and the fact that my wife & I only use a ground tent) is why we don't usually camp in wetter months. I love seeing you two interact. It's heart warming, in this day & age, to see couple who still love each other and know how to have fun together after being together for so long.

Andrew that was one of the most entertaining eps I have seen in a while, whenever you bring Gwynn the whole mood of the video's change (in a good way). Andrew, Gwynn, I have never laughed so much at any of your videos as much as this one.
It reminds me so much of our adventures, even the levelling is the same, my wife has Gwynn's attitude of "it will be fine" but like Andrew, I'm not happy unless it is. I have a bubble level fixed to the centre console so I don't have to get out to check.
I am so glad to see we aren't the only ones who have night problems too and end up laughing about them in the morning.
One of your best 'real world' videos yet, well done folks x

I always thought it would be great to build the ‘downstairs’ in such a way that when there are stormy nights you could pull the mattress down, close the pop top and sleep comfortably down below. That would make more sense in the cold climate I live in.

I actually love this video. As North West Europe campers, this is proper camping weather. It’s scary but exhilarating, really tests what you’re made of. And if you have the right kit it can be really enjoyable. We use a heavy canvas military type ground tent anchored to the side of the vehicle which is incredibly safe and sheltered, and a canvas tarp again clipped to the vehicle with canvas sides, tied down at a couple of dozen eyelet points with military grade pegs. Not that quick to set up of course but not that bad either and it’s well worth it looking out at everyone else getting battered and getting no sleep in their fancy roof tents ...

Hi Andrew, Just wanted to tell you how fabulous Gwynn looks, she's so fit and vibrant. As she gracefully stepped from one large stone to another, she looked like a woman in her later 20s! She really made this latest video with her priceless commentary, facial expressions, loved it.
Now for some advice, don't you think you both are getting a little too old for camping out on the top of a SUV, in a rain storm, in the middle of nowhere!? There is a reason why so many older people have travel trailers.
You should give some serious thought to buying a trailer and focus on your van base, older people. These endless build videos, that are primarily the same, are past the point of getting old. But people watch them, your fans, like me, to see and hear you rant on in pure and utter madness.
    W.
Ps more plane video & more Gwynn

you should look into the darche 270 awning. In my opinion the most flexible. it's freestanding has poles to support in heavy wind (also helps to angle it down so no water collects) and with the sidewalls you're more safe in windy and rainy weather conditions

A simple suggestion for making sleep a little easier is to remove the metal zipper pulls and replace with short paracord pulls (2-3" long). Virtually no noise at night as I can hear your zipper pulls clanging in the wind! Lost an awning in the Mojave Desert with the same type of wing gust. I was too late.

    • @Snook_

Gwen & Andrew, Not sure if you’ll read this but I will give it a go anyway. First of all, loved this episode, I literally laughed out loud for most of it….highly entertaining as we’ve all had similar experiences. 😂
I need to pull you up about one thing. Not all Grey Nomads travel in 4x4 & caravan combos that are unable to remote travel. For 7 years my poor wife & I zigzagged across this country in our single cab 79 series towing our trusty Bushtracker caravan. Whilst there might be a few to snipe at our van there aren’t many brands of van that can cope with being skull dragged through just about everything bar the odd track like the French line, canning & OTL. We still visited those places only we dumped the van at a station or property & headed on without it. I will never forget the look on one campers face when I appeared at Mitchell Plateau in the Kimberly with the van & he was perplexed how we got it up there but truth be known I had it in some fairly dodgy positions & places. It spent a huge portion of its life on the dirt.
AS FOR THE Frigging generators, they are NOT NEEDED in this day & age (They drive me insane). A properly set up van with a professionally wired 12 volt system can survive indefinitely off the grid. Our van was rarely hooked to 240volt, occasionally it happened at the odd Showgrounds or a friends property but most people are either to cheap/lazy or unaware & their systems can’t cope being offgrid. I’m glad we did it our way. Not all grey nomadism is how it is depicted at that stop. Would I do it again 🧐 No, I’ve done that, in the future I shall travel with my Troopy alone…..I don’t intend to be on the road for any longer that 6-8 months at a time & the responsibility of the big rig is not to be taken lightly.
It’s such a shame, at the most precious moment each evening that there’s always some moron who wants to ruin the tranquility with the genset 🤮 They are NOT needed.
    Long Live the Troopy 💪🏼

We had a gale hit our canvas dome tent (brought from South Africa) at Lake Wivenhoe near Brisbane. Luckily I'd put down the awning. Nothing of ours was damaged - the tent is well built. Most other tents at the campsite were damaged. It was the worst wind I've ever experienced. It actually knocked me off my feet. We also have a bottle of Mrs Balls chutney but I like it on a boerewors roll.

One of my summer jobs at university was driving a grader to flatten correlations on New Zealands rural roads. It was a great job actually because it was so peaceful, you just listened to music and radio all day as you plodded along. Worst part was the time someone lost control and hit the back corner of the grader while trying to overtake. He tried to blame freshly graded road conditions, say8ng it was my fault, but luckily the police where hearing none of it. Grader just needed a new tyre. 😆
