  • Do you love your 3018 CNC Machine but hate the vibrations? Have you snapped your collet nut into your clamping nut? I did not know that the collet snaps into the clamping nut! I'm having major vibration issues and the bit wasn't tight or straight. But I did not snap my collet into the clamping nut, so that was an issue for sure. My spindle's threads seemed cut wrong since they did not mesh well with multiple clamping nuts and we decided to cut off the spindle end and replace it. So I can not test the snapped in collet at this time, but it was clearly wrong while not snapped in place. Debating upgrading to a 500W spindle all at once. Make sure your collet nut is snapped into your clamping nut and happy CNC cutting!

@@handlaidtracksand3dprinted922 clicking it together didn't pull the collett and bit out with the nut, though - still need to apply plenty of WD40 and pliers. I think I'm overtightening!

I found my spindle wasn't machined properly. I removed it and bought a replacement - then lost energy for the project and it is still waiting for me to spend more effort. I ended up using 3D printed jigs instead to make the model train tracks as they are easier to make and last long enough for my purposes.
