Hey guys. I'm 60. Years ago when I was allot younger I built houses with an uncle of mine. Saw that little trick you showed using your square to cut 2X and have a perfect cut. Used it today on some decking and really was easy. Thanks. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks, if he's willing to try !!! LMAO. Hope Jamie is doing better. God bless.
I'm so glad to see you back in action Jaime. Your positive attitude and wit are a credit to the quality of your character, sir. We all look forward to watching you, your brothers, and your crew for years to come.
The mountain accents on the kitchen islands and matching loft railing is such a cool, artistic detail and theme to go with the "mountain peak" design of the home with the mountain views.
If you prime end grain by spreading a thin layer of glue then letting it dry a little before adding more glue and clamping, it will be far stronger than usual end grain gluing.
Yaaay! Jamie's back at work and not driving his wife crazy! :) We just got this very same domino cutter at work and all spent some time in the shop playing with it. Nice tool! Beautiful work as always gents! L
Love you guys man!!!! A family of brothers, teaching your fellow man the skills of the trade, all while making us laugh. Wholesome and enjoyable. Ya’ll are Joseph in this passage: Genesis 39:2-4
As an alternative to clamps, you can use bench top connectors Knock down fittings (35mm x 25mm deep hole set in from joint edge). Benefits: pulls together not lifting.🔧
Just a little miter clamping trick for all you fellow craftsmen. Clamp two boards parallel on each side of your miter top and bottom of the work piece, add another one on each side of the first set if you need more clamping pressure (Boards on top of the work piece and clamp down TIGHT. Place craft paper between them and the work piece ). Apply clamps across your joint and tighten. No blocks to glue or remove later. Love the channel btw Perkins Bros. You got a great crew working with you guys :)
That's how this is actually done. This method also improves the angle of the clamps, as it really is best if the are properly perpendicular to the cut.
Adding a strip of led lighting under the bar top would look fantastic. Router it into the bottom edge to hide the glare or mount to a molding and attach. Good job guys!
I can believe that, when you actually put effort into liking TH-cam videos first and consider that an accomplishment, it’s likely nothing you do is at this level.
I dont know what happened to you Jamie. Never saw your vids. But, I see your left hand has a severe finger injury. I pray your recovery is quick. Your spirit is bright and you're countenance is cheery. Sometimes, life's curve balls can make a person bitter, sometimes it makes them better, and sometimes, you have to fight through the bitter to get better. "The Lord bless thee and keep thee, the Lord make His face to shine upon thee, the Lord lift His countenance upon thee and give thee peace. "
Only fasten one length of the bar hard to the base. The other length needs to have slots with large washers and not tight. Otherwise the miter will either crack or the base will break.
Amazing job, just suscribed!! please clarify for me: after that fist diagonal cut on the slab there's a second one opposite? I mean, you would be cutting out a triangle in order to make that corner, correct?
Question!!! Redoing my kitchen countertops with black walnut, inside of countertop is a 90 degree angle outside of countertop is 2 45 degree angles. What would be the better way to form my 90? Miter the countertops or run all the boards the same direction exposing the end grain on the shorter countertop. Mind you the finished top will be approximately 1.75"- 2.00" thick. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Another thing you can do if you don't have the fancy Festool biscuit thangy is to match drill 5/8" holes with a drill, and then use short 3" chunks of 1/2" all-thread slathered in West System epoxy as dowels. Paint the mating surfaces w/ epoxy as well. Thicken the epoxy w/ colloidal silica. Won't go nowhere...
I would have screwed blocks for the clamps on the underside to clamp it together. Then I would have strong backed it on the bottom also to keep it flat. But that’s just me.
Old comment, but question for ya anyway as I'm currently doing a similar build as this... how would you do the strongback in a way that allows for wood movement? Oversize holes with screws instead of glue I'm guessing?
It’s more about gripping and resisting the sliding motion than holding. 80 grit sandpaper folded and set between the wood blocks and countertop where the hot glue was used would of done just as well.
So happy to see Jaime back at work!
Back in the saddle, way to go Jamie. Just shows what happens when you have a superior attitude and superior state of mind ...
What happened? Don't tell me it was his fingers??
@@JB-ef7ks they have a playlist for it

Absolutely love it. Good to see Jamie holding his own out there in the field, I know how tough it can be!!

I love the spalting
Thanks for all the great videos

Sure, but with 100 dominoes, it doesn't matter at all haha

Beautiful work! Good to see you back in your element, Jamie.
Jamie, it’s good to see you with your head up. You’re an inspiration, and a damn good carpenter too! Thanks
Thanks thanks for the tip👍✌🇺🇲
I need that flapper sander.... That is awesome. Good work Perkins Bro's
You're the man, Jamie! Welcome back!
Jaime! You haven't missed a step. Good to see you.
Great bar top too!
I love working with live edge. Used it in my Tiki Bar 2.0 video and My new Office wall! Love the Rough cut look!
Heavy duty. Love it. As always, well done gentlemen.

Nice! Beautiful work guys...
Awesome work Jaime!
Jaime is BACK 100%, just a lil bump in the road
Adding a strip of led lighting under the bar top would look fantastic. Router it into the bottom edge to hide the glare or mount to a molding and attach. Good job guys!
Domino looks way stronger than biscuits.Good info.
Become a shop teacher when you retire from this!!! You have a great way of explaining all of it in minimal words.
Godspeed Jamie! Still on point brother...
Nice work gentlemen!
Nice job expertly executed.
Very nice!
Can’t keep a good man down. Good on ya Jamie
Beautiful!
We've been doing epoxy counters and bars. You can make good money doing them. Epoxy shower walls too
Love the content you guys make thank you
isopropyl alcohol detaches hot glue like magic - give it a try
Nail polish remover if ya ain’t got it wife might get mad.. but hey in a pinch it works
He would “beat the devil out of it “
Those slabs are beautiful. Timber like that costs a small fortune up here in Edmonton, Canada.
Jamie, you're a huge inspiration. Great to see you still crafting. Also, that wood mountain backsplash on the island cabinet looks bomb.
Very nice! Would have loved to see how you mounted it
Great video like always good seen you guys like always as well
You the man Jamie
100% craftsmanship...JAKK LEGGS EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT 😂
Is there a vid on the counter bottom? That bar is some great looking work and I would love to see how it was done.
I hear Brazil I upvote! 👍🇧🇷
Hot glue releases really easy with a bit of denatured alcohol! Keep a little spray bottle of it around, its a very useful liquid in general.
I totally thought Jaime was gonna chisel in some butterfly/bowties. Maybe next time, nice miter regardless!
Thanks Jamie I just learned something about Domino’s
Ooh, 'register', what a fancy word :-D
Festool is my best friend.🗜📐🚣♀️🇨🇦
Nice work,
NICE!
Jamie's a badass
Ok. The tip at 2:05 is damn brilliant. Going to use that with my domino for sure.
That sap wood not being close is gonna drive me nuts
Me too... Inlaid wood medallion at that point maybe ?
Agreed.
1:30 That's going to drive the homeowner crazy. Forever. They will never stop seeing the misalignment.
Looks awesome would look good with a satin finish
First not that anybody cares. And first like. That table is beautiful my carpentry won’t ever be that beautiful
I can believe that, when you actually put effort into liking TH-cam videos first and consider that an accomplishment, it’s likely nothing you do is at this level.
Endgrain is the strongest of all plain glue joints. Proven with real testing.
2 seconds in (i'd better subscribe - oh i already have).
Nice job a few butterfly across where the grain is mismatched would hide it.
I dont know what happened to you Jamie. Never saw your vids. But, I see your left hand has a severe finger injury. I pray your recovery is quick. How did you seal it? Just poly?
I simply cannot accept the bomb-proof claim without a demonstration.
PG-13 man but I like the wood work lots of people have nice ideas
Do you guys have any footage of that island in the background getting done?
A brown Sharpie on the bar surface, will match up tha wood grain
Meu vc é um camaleão é isso aí nunca para
Se ve muy chingon amigos
That's looks good ,what would you use on the top to make it food safe
Any footage of making the mountain scene on the bar? Or tips on how to duplicate?
Only fasten one length of the bar hard to the base. The other length needs to have slots with large washers and not tight. Otherwise the miter will either crack or the base will break.
How has the miter joint held up?
Ive got a chainsaw mill and every time i mill lumber my wife's like, "i would love some wooden counter tops"
Amazing job, just suscribed!! please clarify for me: after that fist diagonal cut on the slab there's a second one opposite? I mean, you would be cutting out a triangle in order to make that corner, correct?
Just curious, is this how you guys build everything? Multiple people working together on a task together?
Mmm biscuits

Awesome work! Just curious, could you get a good joint there with pocket hole screws? Also what kind of cabinets are those?
I’ve built several farmhouse tables and have had really good luck with glue plus the pocket hole screws. Probably just personal preference...
Hello there! I wanna learn your stuff! please tell me where shall I go and how I begin? THANK YOU!
Fantastic bar top for resting your elbows!!!🤣
That lift at the start would have killed a Normal man :)
Very nice! What products did you use to finish/seal the wood?
Another thing you can do if you don't have the fancy Festool biscuit thangy is to match drill 5/8" holes with a drill, and then use short 3" chunks of 1/2" all-thread slathered in West System epoxy as dowels. What type of hardware did you use to connect the top to the ledge.( what it sits on )????
I would have screwed blocks for the clamps on the underside to clamp it together. Then I would have strong backed it on the bottom also to keep it flat. But that’s just me.
Old comment, but question for ya anyway as I'm currently doing a similar build as this... how would you do the strongback in a way that allows for wood movement? Oversize holes with screws instead of glue I'm guessing?
What project was this?? ive watched all them but this one. Whats it called??
Sup with dudes hand? Looks like he lopped off 4 of his 5 digits!
Hiw much $$ was that slab of wood? That has to be a bit stressful knowing if you dork it up you can't find this at lowes
Live Edge alignment is subjective and possible to modified, I would have gone with lining up the sapwood.
Overall, job well done 😁👍
Is that regular hobby hot glue? I wouldn’t think it would hold as well as it did.
It’s more about gripping and resisting the sliding motion than holding. 80 grit sandpaper folded and set between the wood blocks and countertop where the hot glue was used would of done just as well.
Would *have.
Not "would of".
Or, "would've"
Uncle Chrissy grammar nazis need not apply.
What do you use to colour your epoxy ?
