    Be more assertive in your movements, go a bit quicker and lean that bike over! Tell the bike what to do, stop being only reactive to what's going on. Tell the bike what to do. MotoJitsu.com/store for my books, app, merch, etc.

      Very helpful video! Question: when you were doing these quick turns with a lot of lean, are you direct steering or coutnersteering, e.g., push right to make a right U-turn?

    just wanted to say a big thanks for your drills.they possibly saved my life today. i was doing black belt braking practice today. i happened to go for a ride afterwards and going round a bend i encountered a car coming towards me on my side of the road in the middle of a terrible overtake. i had to brake very hard - not to a complete stop but very nearly - and it just wasn't a big deal cos i've so done so much braking practice it just came easy. so i can only recommend to everyone do as greg says - get out there and practice these drills.

    Great video Greg. I do a few figure 8s and u turns at the start and end of every ride. I've been both of your examples... It's always a good indicator for me what kind of day I'm having. Good news is that the more I practice, the longer I go between those days where I'm turning slow, dabbing a foot etc.

    Faster relative to the maneuver, but not fast. It can sound counter-intuitive but it’s really the difference between 2-3 mph or 7-8 mph. Both are slow speeds, but the faster of the slow speeds makes the maneuver easier. And the control inputs are like trying to flip an omelette: you have to commit.

    Something clicked the first few seconds of your video about speed. The first thing that popped into my head was the analogy
    of a golf ball lip out. if it was slower it would have dropped in the cup, A higher pace the ball would seem like it is dropping but pops out of the hole.

      @@MotoJitsu I had a tip over once due to a busted up road. I was doing a uturn and when the front wheel contacted the busted up section it acted like I hit the front brake and I tipped over. Very freakin aggravating.

    But how do you transition from the first technical you showed us to the 2nd correct technique, I think most of us fear that if we try that we are just going to lay it down :)

      By practicing more, which is why most riders aren’t good at this stuff

    You can turn just as easy while going very slow (couple mph) you just have to use full lock. Turning radius would be the same. In the real world you can't go crazy with 15mph full lean u turns on growded parking lots or gas stations. But it's fun to practice it

  • @marcos.1771
    @marcos.1771 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you find the time to show us how to do U-turns safely from a stationary situation?
    For example, I’m following the instructions of my navigation device and then I inadvertently miss the road to the right.
    My navigation device might then advise me to do a U-turn.
    This is a problem, because now I have to stop at the side of the road, check the traffic behind me in my mirrors and check the on-coming traffic, and when all is safe, attempt my U-turn from my stopped position.
    Doing those turns you show in your video, I can do until my bike runs out of fuel, but doing that U-turn from zero across a fairly busy road is difficult for me.
