Thanks Geoff, I just went through the list and felt grateful that I got to try all of these before 😃 The limited edition whisky which impressed me the most this year was the Benromach 19 Virgin Oak Matured. 19 years maturation in virgin oaks with cask strength delivery I would've thought be an overwhelming spice bomb but my my it was a delicious coconut cream cake! Cheers my friend 🥃
The Glen Scotia limited release 2024 is my top pick of the year - unpeated fino sherry cask, 9 year old. On paper doesn’t sound as enticing as the peated white port, but for me it has the edge, and it has a gorgeous lavender blue label!
Glasgow Distillery Co have been amazing in 2024, currently working through the Small Batch Series Madeira cask finish, Islay Cask Finish on the shelf ready to go! Amazing value, hoping they'll do a batch 2 of the Manzanilla cask finish from earlier this year.
Thank you Geof! One wonderfull video once again. Absolutely pleased to see you and your videos. Thank you for the content. Tasty whiskies. )))) Thanks alot for educational entertainment. )
Being in NZ, we are often late to the party too. I have two of those which I bought this year, the Kilchoman Cognac and the Ardbeg BizarreBQ. Kilchoman Cognac would be my pick for Limited Editions too. The Glen Scotia was available but appears to be sold out now. The Tale of Tokyo is still available. I don't recall seeing the Lagavulin rum cask one here. There is a lot of talk about the Glasgow 1770 bottlings but they're not available here yet. Really hoping the Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength makes it here and I am able to pick up a bottle. Cheers!
As someone who doesn’t get along with core Laphroaig, the 2024 Cairdeas PX and Triple Wood combo was fantastic. Happy to see Bizzare B Q up there. Thought that would have to be my guilty pleasure so it’s nice to have some enthusiast backup!
You are the master of lists my friend! Keep them coming! I’m gonna say my favorite 2024 limited release is the Glen Scotia 9 Unpeated Fino Cask…..but I pretty much love anything that has been in a fino cask.
My favorite was definitely Port Charlotte SYC-01 2013. That was a berry bomb. Laphroaig cairdeas cask favourites, and Laphroaig elements 1.0 were also top tier.
Thanks for sharing Geoff Interesting whiskies, definately. And in general (so, I'm not talking to him from this channel, but to the readers) if these might not be to your/mine liking, the message is clear: do not only limit yourself to what is known, but try something unfamiliar. And back to Geoff: I leave the polluted stuff to you. I'll probably pick up some single cask IB's myself, from less explored distilleries. Slàinte mhath
I haven only tried a few special editions from this year. I would pick Talisker Tidal Churn as the best of them. Just a great, full, and pretty basic Talisker. Speaking of Talisker though, I bought and tried Talisker 18 yesterday (new edition, just came here) and I was positively surprised by it. Just an amazing whisky. Very oily, intense taste (orange, blackberry) and a lot of sweetness to go with the usual sea breeze and seaweed. The finish is very very long as well. Felt like I could taste it an hour later. Incredible stuff. So happy when a whisky delivers above expectations. Oh and I will open the 2024 14-year Bunnahabhain Feis Ile on Christmas, so we will see if it can compete
After last Friday's neck pour, I find the Kilchoman 100% Islay 13th edition just superb. I was going to pull the trigger on the Cognac Cask Matured, but the universal praise of the fully ex-bourbon 13th edition 100% Islay convinced me, and I understand why. I also picked up the long-dreamed for Sanaig Cask Strength, which I'll try this weekend. (It says 2024 edition, so I wonder what changes they might have in store for next year.) Like you, some of my limited editions pre-date 2024. I really enjoyed a Douglas Laing Single Cask "Old Particular" bottling of Laphroaig 10 (53.4%). Speaking of Laphroaig, batch 15 of the cask strength 10yo was quite nice; the 16th isn't quite at the same level (needs a little water and a good amount of time and air in the glass to reach a sweet spot). Unlike you, I always dig the Kilkerran Heavily Peated stuff: I'm into Batch 8 right now. Not too dissimilar from Batch 7 but hugely different from Batch 6. Youthful, edgy, funky, sour...I'm in.
Great list my friend! Really gotta try that Kilchoman Cognac Cask finish. On another note, you might as well rename the video: Whiskys with the longest name in 2024 lol Enjoy your week Buddy! Cheers🥃🥃
Boss G, happy December. Sadly, no Scotch ; my limited editions are all Canadian : Canadian Club 18 at 58% and Alberta Premium Batch 10 (18yo) and Lot 40 Cherry Oak 54% are best.
I’m a simple man. I see a Gwhisky video, I drink.
I have that effect. My gf also says I'm the reason she drinks. 🥰

Great list Geoff! I have been lucky to get a few of those. I’m on the lookout for the rest….

When you get the chance, Laphroaig’s 2024 Cairdeas is a BANGER that I suspect we shall see in next year’s list

Good list, with a great number 1.
Thanks Geoff!
As far as the tales go. My fav is the Tale of Cake then Winter then Tokyo and then Forest. Haven't had the ICE cream yet. Cheers

All ones I have yet to see on any shelves here. I hear good things about all three! 🥃
Thanks for sharing Geoff

Nc'nean Huntress 2023 'Woodland Candy' has been great stuff.
Informative list as always
Thank you! 🙏

Some to look out for! Have you tried the Ardnamurchan Paul Launois 2024 yet? Just ordered a bottle but I missed out on the 2023 version. Cheers!
I really like Daftmill winter 2011, 2024 release. And I Agree with gwhisky about Kilchoman cognac cask. A solid release.

Solid list! Have all but the Glen Scotia and don’t disagree with the list.
Perhaps I would swap the Lag w the Kilchoman STR
would add the ardnahoe inaugural, still widely available here, a little bit expensive, but what a banger
Great list my friend! Really gotta try that Kilchoman Cognac Cask finish.

The only Limited edition wishky i wish to drink this year is Indri Diwali Collectors edition 2023
what happened to the Ardnamurchan Paul Launois, surely an honorable mention?
I've been sitting on the fence with that Kilchoman, but at £117 here, I really don't know. I want to but..
At $80 yes of course I would.

Have you tried the Benromach Contrast Air Dried?
Working that algorithm hard. 😂
💪💪💪
Is the Swanson a 23? Speaking of rum, I’m gonna try the Mossburn Foursquare Rum Finish tonight, should be a treat!
I agree ,good choice Geoff ) Cheers !
Cheers buddy! 🥃
Both Glenmorangie Forrest and Icecream is better than Tokyo🙃😋😊
Think the rum Laga is the best one in the series👍🏻
they would be nice - without the peat ;;
Cmon Geoff! Where are the Diageo special releases to get everyone bent out of shape?? Do better next time!
Your volume is a bit low buddy.
my whisky of the year is Glen Moray 2014 JWC (WB263532), delicious stuff.
