Okay, Geoff.... I did it. I put out a spread and offered up drams in celebration of my 70th circuit 'round the sun. I opened my liquor cabinet and laid on extra stock in preparation. I offered up access to 70 different single malts to my friends, family., neighbors, and colleagues who showed up. I offered up iced tea as an alternate. Most who attended did not partake at all of the spirits. They enjoyed the spread of Mediterranean foods and drank iced tea. I offered drams all round, and the usual response was to ask for whatever it was I was drinking. That was Benromach 15, or Glenmo Signet. I'd bought Deanston 18 (2 bottles!) and pointed out that it was my selection elder. It was a hit with several bibblers. One friend requested peated, and, after taunting him with Laphroaig 10SC, I poured him out a dram of Port Charlotte 10. He came back for another. One of my good buddies found the Longrow Peated and was very happy. So far as I could tell, there were no luxury snobs and the age statement folks were accepting of the 18 years. Such are my associates. More folks were impressed with the food offered up than the whiskies.
That's great! Glad to hear the whiskies went over well. Some definite crowd-pleasers in there, so I can't say I'm surprised. Always hard to gage what you're guests will or won't like, but with Benromach, PC10, Signet, Longrow, and Deanston 18 you seem to have had most of your bases covered. Sounds like you had a hell of a time, my friend. Cheers! 🥃
Best bottle I've ever tried has been that Bowmore 21 Aston Martin. Crazy story, my friend's uncle has a huge Bowmore collection, and earlier this fall, we visited him, and he had the 21 Masters selection (Aston Martin) and the outrageously expensive and rare Black Bowmore 42 yr old at 40.5% abv. Both open! He gave me a 15 ml sample of each for $200 dollars total (which he claimed was a steal of a deal and after research, he wasn't kidding!). I let the black Bowmore open up for over half an hour, and took a sip. I almost (pardon the unintentional pun) "blacked" out, it was so amazing. Extremely fruity and oxidized. The best whisky I've ever had at that moment. I then had the idea to leave one tiny sip in the Glencairn, and in the other Glencairn, was the Bowmore 21 Aston Martin. So I asked for a 3rd Glencairn because I wanted to try an experiment. I took about 5 ml's of the Bowmore 21 from a tsp I asked for, and poured it in the 3rd glass, and added a few drops of water to get to approx. the same abv (40.5%) of the much beloved Black Bowmore, to try them at equal strength (if not equal years). I took a sip of the Bowmore 21 A.M, and it was mindblowingly BETTER than the black Bowmore at equal strength. A different animal! The 21 tasted older and richer! I then drank the rest of the bowmore 21 neat, and it was so thick and syrupy, it was the best whisky experience I've ever had. I made that $200 go a long way to get the most out of it! I wish I would have been earlier to the game, I would have stocked up on 2 cases on that Bowmore 21 masters selection. That bottle is very special with the way they made that whisky. Look into it! I wish you to one day be able to try it! Hope you don;t mind my essay! Slainte!
I literally fell over laughing out loud when you said Tamdhu 12 ... that was my exact pick, too! It is *the* bottle for snobs that are not actually *that* knowledgeable, but do know a good whisky when they taste it. Very good bang for buck.
@@Gwhisky yeah, it’s a little craft distillery and the demand is huge. But I’d say it’s one of the best summer type of whiskies I’ve ever tried. Distillate driven, flowery, and overall super delicious. I got Daftmill 15 sample in my stash. Planning to open and try it at the beginning of Spring
From my current cabinet: PF= Ardbeg Corryvreckan SB= Aberlour Abunadh Pur= Dalwhinnie 15 LL= Laphroaig Lore AS= I have lovely 15million year old H2O, non chill filtered, natural color but low abv. Best part, I have it on tap.
Great idea for a vid. Enjoyed it a lot. The only other snob I would add is the whisky snob who buys whisky for the status, rather than the smell and taste. These are the snobs that think expensive rare Macallan is the pinnacle of scotch whisky and will pay $30k on a bottle to impress their rich friends.
Cool some homework. So Peat freak I'm thinking Octomore. Sherry Bomber I'd go with Tamdhu Batch Strength Batch #2. The Purist is a tough one for me maybe a Linkwood. The luxury lover Talisker 18yr. Age snob I have a IB Blend that is 38yr. Another fun list.
Great idea! Peat Freak: Laphroaig 10 CS or Ardbeg Corryvreckan. Sherry Lover: Aberlour A'bunadh or Glenfarclas 15 Purist: Glen Garrioch Virgin Oak or Clynelish 14 -this is a hard one Luxury Lover: Chivas Regal 21 Royal Salute (porcelain decanter, awesome box) or Dalmore King Alexander III Age Snob: Probably would go with a single grain whisky like Wemyss 30
Great video Geoff! 1) Peat freak: Laphroiag 10 CS 2) Sherry bomber: Exactly right, the Bunnahabhain CS. Edradour STFC oloroso would be another choice. It was the Aberlour Abunadh for me a few years ago. 3) Purist: Springbank 10, Glencadam 10, Craigallachie 13 4) Luxury lover: ugh...Not sharing a dram with anyone calling themselves a "luxury lover". But, I'll pour them a cheap Diageo bottling and make up some story around it. Glenmorangie signet comes to mind (when it was
Great vid! You should nominate some other whiskytubers to do this too! I’d go something like: 1. Peat freak - Octomore 8.3 or Laphroaig 10yo CS 2. Sherry bomber - Glenallachie 10CS or Edradour Caledonia 3. Purist - Springbank 12CS/local barley or an IB teaninich/deanston/glentauchers 4. Lux lover - Yamazaki/Macallan 18 or Glenmorangie Signet 5. Age snob - Bunna 25 or Glenfarclas 25 6. My personal snobby picks: Whisky Jury ‘96 Ben Nevis or 1989 Blackadder Bowmore
@@Gwhisky 6.3/8.3/9.3 were my fave octos. Also if that Jury 96 Nevis is hard to find, try the Whisky Age one. Those Taiwanese IBs are so expensive in Australia because they are double taxed (once in TW and once in Aus). The 89 Bowmore is a super fruity minerally Bowmore that’s just one of the better late 80s/90s IB I’ve had.
Very entertaining and relatable :) my picks would be: Peat Freak: Ledaig 10 Sherry Bomber: Aberlour A'bunadh Purist: Craigellachie 13 maybe? Purists are unpredictable. Luxury person: Dalmore King Alexander III Age: Never had anything older than the Talisker 18. So, yeah, that!
Great picks bud! As for me Peat Freak: Glen Scotia 15 (yeah I'm not very hardcore), Sherry Bomber: Signatory Edradour 10, Purist: Hazelburn 10, Lux Lover: Glenfarclas 185th Anniversary or Bunna' 18, Age Snob: Glendronach 21 or Redbreast 21. Cheers!
Peat freak Scotia 15, eh? That's playing it safe. Hah! Can't argue with the other choices. I haven't had the pleasure of trying the 165 from Glenfarclas. I've had the 185 and it's incredible. Bunna 18 and Glendronach 21 are fantastic, too. I REALLY need to get my hands on that Redbreast 21... Cheers, buddy! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Yeah like I said I'm not exactly a peathead...Oops I meant the 185 stunning isn't it?! I bought a bottle of Bunna' 18 after your rave review despite the price haven't regretted it one bit. Redbreast 21 def. worth the hype imo. Cheers!
Looking at my collection: 1. the peat freak - Coompass box Peat Monster Arcana 2. the sherry bomber - Edradour 10 yr cask strenght sherry butt 3. the purist - Mortlach 16 or some SMWS 4. the luxury lover - Macallen No6 Blue Edition 5. the age snob - Glendronach 18 (its really like 22)
Geoff, good list. Some of yours matched mine but others did not. Here’s mine. Let me know if you tried them. Peat Freak: Octomore 08.3; Laphroaig Cask Strength-Sherry Bomber: Glengoyne Teapot Dram 007; Aberlour A’bunadh- Purist: Bruichladdich Black Art 07.1; Clynelish 14- Luxury Lover: Hibiki 21; Wild Turkey Master’s Keep (Anyone)- Age Snob: Glengoyne 30; Glenfarclas 25; IB: 115.18 Barley Ballet; Dramfool Bruichladdich 14
Interesting. I haven't had that specific Octomore, nor have I had any Glengoyne Teapot as it's not sold here. The Black Arts is available but pricey, another I've never had. Actually... it'd be shorter if I tell you what I have had. I've tried plenty of A'bunadhs, Clynelish 14, Hibiki 21, Glenfarclas 25, and Laphroaig Cask Strength. All good choices! 🥃
First time adding a comment here. I love the channel and the tips. Here are my choices and I think I'm on the cheaper side of the spectrum :) Peat Freak - Ardbeg Uigeadail, Sherry Bomber - Arran Bodega Sherry Cask, The Purist - Cragiellachie 13, Luxury Lover - Mortlach 16, Age snob - Glen Scotia 18.
Octomore 15.1 / Port Charlotte 10 Aberlour A'bunadh / Bunnahabian 12 Craigellachie 13 Laphroaig single cask select / Hibiki Harmony J.P. Wiser's 42 year / either Laphroaig 25, Glenfarclas 25, Glenmorangie 18 or Knob Creek 18 depending on their taste
Peat Freak - Kilkerran Heavily Peated or Ardbeg Uigeadail Sherry Lover - Edradour Caledonia or Arran 18 Purist - Cheap option has to be Clynelish 14 or Aultmore 18 Luxury - Fakkem!! I do have open bottles of a single cask Springbank 23 and Old Pulteney 21 but I'm not sharing. Age - Arran 18/21 but I also love the Ledaig 18
I agree with your four lower budget choices, except for "the luxury one" , and I think since you're also in Taiwan, Kavalan Solist Vinho barrique Single Cask Strength Whisky would be great choice which would be only sold for TWD 2880 during the end of year sale at Costco Taiwan (almost every year).
@@Gwhisky 😅Sorry, the special Kavalan on sale seemed to end after Lunar New Year vacation (It would start before Christmas every year and end after Lunar Vacation)
Another great video! My picks: Peat Freak: any Octomore but out of my collection probably 10.4 CS sherry lover: Tamdhu CS or a Glenallachie single cask Purist: Arran 10 or Laddie Luxury lover: Kavalan Solist Vinho Age Snob: Black Art 10.1
Great list with nice alternatives! Based on my current stockpile; 1. Peat Freak - Ardbeg Corryvreckan (or 'As We Get It' Islay Single Malt 60.5%) 2. Sherry Bomber: Arran Sherry Cask (or Edradour Caledonia) 3. The Purist - probably Aultmore 12 4. Luxury Lover - my most expensive whisky is Old Pulteney 17 so that I guess (or Springbank 12 CS which was cheaper when I bought it but now sells for like 4 times the price (!?) 5. Age Snob - my oldest is Ancnoc 18 so that !
Enjoyed the video as well as your reviews. Great responses from your fans. Two years into scotch and I realize I've barely scratched the surface. As a current peat freak, I love the Laphroiag 10 CS.
A current peat freak huh...interestingly enough, i started out as a peat freak after being introduced to whisky through PC10. Then I became a peat.sherry bomber thru Ardbeg Uigeadall. Right now I just enjoy a,pure flavour! And the abv preference has risen well above 40%...prefer the big flavours from cask strength bottlings 😄👍
All picks are in the mid range from glancing through my modest cabinet Peat: Glenturret 10 Peat Smoked Sherry: Arran Sherry Cask (CS) Purist: Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2012 Luxury: Octomore 10 Year Age: Oldest I got is Talisker 18, so that's what they get! Bonus IB: Auld Goonsy's Malt: Benrinnes 12 (CS)
Hi Geoff, what do you think of my list below? Peatfreak: Laphroaig 10 CS Sherry Bomber: Glen Garioch 15 sherry cask Purist: Bruichladdich black art Luxury lover: Balvenie 40 Age snob: Glenfarclas 50
For the Peat Freak and Sherry Bomber I'd pour them this Signatory Ledaig 10 Cask Strength. Can't really think of anything else I have that would impress them. For the Purist maybe a 2009 Islay Barley from Bruichladdich. For the age snob there is this Canadian Chronicles 43 year for $300 USD at my local store that I think would impress them. For the luxury guy there was this Dimensions Macallan IB I saw but it was about $2000 USD.
From my stock: Peat freak: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength Sherry Bomb: Glenallachie 10 Cask Strength Purist: Dailuaine 21 from Hart Brothers Luxury: Johnnie Walker Red Label... (by the way, compare the nose of Red Label to Springbank 10, there are - far, far away - (according to my nose) some tiny similarities) Age Snob: Arran 21
I'm worried I might sound like one (or more) of the categories you don't want to know, but: 1. the peat freak - Laphroaig SMWS 29.98 "The Devil Rides Out" or Octomore 06.3 2. the sherry bomber - Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram 04 or Glengoyne Teapot Dram 003 3. the purist - Caperdonich (Duncan Taylor) 1972-2008 or Pittyvaich 26 Forager's Keep 4. the luxury lover* - Hankey Bannister 40 year old or Royal Salute 21 (name recognition) 5. the age snob* - Benromach 1974 41 year old or Ladyburn 1974 40 year old *Of course, my two 'birthday drams' - Highland Park The Dragon 1961 and Ledaig 42 year old Dùsgadh - would work for both 4 and 5... but they can keep their paws off!
Interesting spin off, Geoff. Curious what you had in mind for me 😎... great pick, however I would go for a bourbon matured. My picks: Peat: Staoisha cask strength Sherry: Tamdhu 15yo Purist: Bourbon matured like indeed the Glencadam 10yo. Luxury: if you are into great packaging?..... an empty tube for those guys. Age: and old single grain like Invergordon or Girvan. Had both of those over 30yo. Great stuff Slàinte mhath
For the budget Luxury category I would have had the same attitude as you did for the budget age category. Luxury, like age, is always expensive. So I would have gone right to Signet as my pick. Yes it's expensive, but Luxury is expensive and I think it's price point is close to where Luxury begins, and it just looks fancy.
Hi Geoff, as always an excellent list video 👍. So with what I’ve got at home my choices would be:- Peat freak =Laphraiog 10 CS, sherry bomber =Edradour 10 sherry cask (signatory), the purist:- Glencadam 15, the luxury lover:- springbank 15, and the age snob:- balblair 1991 vintage. Enjoyed watching, slàinte Geoff.
Great topic! here's my pick: Peat Freak: Octomore X.2 (special cask version) Sherry Bomber: Edradour Caledonia (sherry bomb without oversweet) The Purist: Glenmorangie Tusail (very clean) Luxury Lover: Glenmorangie Signet (just touch the bottle will do the trick) BTW, does Mortlach 12y taste "luxurious"? Age Snob: Dewars 21y double aged (blend, but better and cheaper than some 21y single malt)
@@Gwhisky Yeah I thought the same but was speaking to the brand ambassador and he said bourbon, Oloroso and red wine casks! The 15 is the same but instead of red wine they use PX casks!
Great list! Here's my list... All stuff anyone should be a ble to find: Peated: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength or Port Charlotte 10 Sherried: Tamdhu Cask Strength or Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban (Correction: Glenmorangie 12 Lasanta) Purist: Glen Moray 18 or Glencadam 15 Luxury: Glenmorangie Signet or Glen Scotia Victoriana Age Snob: Glenfarclas 25 or BenRiach 21
@@whiskyguidedog6558 Thanks, I meant Lasanta 12 👍 ...although the Quinta Ruban is the better of the two and I doubt many would complain...or even know that it wasn't Sherry unless the were told. I know I can't always tell the difference between fortified wine finishes without extreme side by side scrutiny ✌️
Love those picks. Still haven't got around to that Glen Moray. There's like one shop that sells it in Taipei and it's on the other side of town. Definitely getting picked up next time I go (fingers crossed they still have it!). Signet is the go-to luxury one, but Victoriana is an interesting pick! Thanks for sharing your list, Chris! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Thanks for posting this; I really dig these List Challenges. Victoriana is about as good as a bottle gets these days regardless of price IMHO, and I love it's presentation, so.... I don't see it anymore, but I would've found a place for Tullibarine 12 The Murray on this list of I could.
My oldest, ergo max age statement, is Lagavulin 16. I'm Scots heritage. I can't bring myself to spend that much. I'm looking for a 'touch of peat' Scotch and I'd heard that peatiness is the first of the flavor notes to fade over time. I have a bottle of Laphroaig 10 in my cabinet, but it is at the back because I didn't like the upfront peat. When in the Orkneys, I ran into Highland Park's offerings and fell for their Einar because it has that soft, lingering 'touch of peat' in the finish. Of course, it couldn't be had in the US at all, as it is a 'retail travel offering' and only available through the Duty Free shops in UK airports. The HP products I could get here, and within my budget, didn't have what I sought. I knew that Ardbeg 10 and Port Charlotte 10 were too much peat for me, so I sprung for the Lagavulin 16, which sells for just a nickel shy of $100 here on the left coast. It is a distinct improvement over the Laphroaig 10, and, hey, Nick Offerman was pimping it, but it was still not what I sought. At least I'll consume it in this lifetime, which is more than I can say about the Laphroaig 10. Along the way, I tasted my way through a LOT of sherried whiskys and they came to represent the core of my 'go-to' whiskys....Arberlour 12, the Balvenie, Glenmorangie 10, 12, & 14, Glenfiddich 12, Auchentoshan Three Barrel, and Bunnahabhain 12. I just opened my first ever Campbeltown whisky with a bottle of Glen Scotia 15 (there is no Springbank whisky of any kind here). I suspect I will be taken with Aberlour A'Bunadh once I add it to the collection, but it will only be obtained when I'm feeling pretty flush, as it sells for $110 a bottle here. Right at the moment, I have a bottle of Benromach 10 on order....I'm hoping it fills the bill. And...Many of the names you listed are not available at all in my market. Neither the Blanoch, Glencadam, nor the Talisker 25 are available in this state. The Glenallachie here is an expensive whisky. The 10 year sells at just cents under $100 per bottle. There is Talisker 30 available (two bottles in the entire state), but it sells for $999.95 a bottle. Tamdhu was already on my list of 'to try' so it's nice to see that you think it can be foisted on snobs and still has good taste. The Tamdhu 12 sells for less than $80 a bottle....much less painful. But successive age statements I consider 'beyond my means'. So, at my place, peat snobs get Laphroaig 10 or Lagavulin 16 and I heartily recommend the latter. Sherry bombers have more of a choice, as I stock Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Auchentoshan Three Barrel, and Bunnahabhain 12. I'll definitely lean into your Tamdhu 12 suggestion when I'm next purchasing. I think that the closest I have to what a 'purist' might be interested in is the Glenfiddich 12, but it is such a pedestrian and slightly sherried Speyside. I'll look around for other light, clean, malty but unsherried bourbon casked products. I've also a Clynelish 14 which is okay, but won't make the repurchase list. Age statement folks will be stuck with the Lagavulin 16 or the Glen Scotia 15, as that's as high as mine go. To the best of my knowledge, I've never tasted a whisky of 18 years or older. Ever.
Sounds like you're quite peat averse. HP is a great gentle peat alternative. Benromach is another good one to fit the bill. How do you feel about Talisker?
@@Gwhisky Well, HP is where I started with the Quest for 'a touch of peat', but everything I've tried with their label since I returned from the UK just doesn't match the Einar flavor profile. I've a bottle of cask strength and it doesn't get much activity; it's rough going and I don't taste any peat at all. I have a bottle of Talisker Storm, which is fine, but it, too, will last some time. The Lagavulin 16 goes down better than the Storm. I've a Benromach 10 on special order and I'm looking forward to it. I'm wondering about the BenRiach line...they have peated 10 and 12, and their regular 10 and 12. I have not tasted. Does their regular line have any peatiness, or are they sherried? How peaty are their 'peated' lines? I may just have to be satisfied with Johnny Walker Black. It has that light peaty finish that I like. And the blend is no slough, either.
If I imagine I like these people... for my peat freak brother - corry or pc 10, purist - craig 13, age snob - the finger. sherry bomber - aberlour a'bunadh, if they can't handle CS ill make them a mean old fashioned, luxory - kill-karren 12 mby🤷♂. just ordered my first bottle of springbank the 10. sweden got around 500 bottles today. gone in two sec hoping it's good, but not too good... 67,82 usd for 700ml seems like an ok price. keep it up G!
Great Video, i love the Categories. My List would be: Peat Freak : Williamson CS (Most are between 8-11yo, all IBs) or the Laphroaig CS Sherry Bomber : Glentauchers 21 (by G+M Connaiseurs Choice) or Aberlour A Bunadh Purist : Craigellachie 6yo ( IB by van Wees) or a Stauning Rye in Standardversion (there are some Versions out there) Luxury Lover: Strathclyde 31yo Single Grain (Black Octave by Duncan Taylor) or Cigar Malt 4.Edition 17yo by Brühler Whiskyhaus Age : Bunnahabhain 28yo (IB by SMoS) or Glendronach 21 Parliament All Choices based on todays Reserves in the Closet 😅
It’s not her money! Spat my coffee out, so awesome. For what’s in my cabinet: Octomore 11.1/PC10 Glendronach CS batch 11/ Fannys Bay Sherry single cask CS, Glencadam 10/ Overeem Ex-bourbon, Sullivans Cove ex Tawny / Springbank 10 New Zealand South Island 25yo - Dunedin
And not even that good. IMO. If you’re getting something from Tassie, Callington Mill, Hillwood, Fannys Bay, Overeem all far better. Even Launceston Distillery is good. Can’t forget Heartwood/TIB
Ah this was a fun video! You should start tagging other whiskytube members to chime in with their picks. I'll give it a go myself: Peat Freak: Laphroig LORE, alt: Port Charlotte 10 Sherry Bomber: Bunnahabhain 12 CS (2022) alt: Edradour Caledonia or Glenallachie 15 or 12 Purist: Springbank 10 alt: Glencadam 15 or 10 Lux Lover: Joseph A. Magnus Cigar Malt (USA) alt: Glemorangie Signet Age Snob: RedBreast 21 (Ireland), alt; Edradour 21 Oloroso
Nice list. I have the Craigellachie 13 Armagnac, and I think I might be able to track down the PCIB 2012, but I've never seen any of the others. I will say this though, probably the very best whisky I ever sipped was a 19yo IB Benrinnes from Robert Graham. I don't know why, but there are very few reviews of Robert Graham whiskies online, and I don't know why? Check their sight, they bottle some interesting stuff.
Geoff, what separates the Port Charlotte Heavily Peated 10 from the Port Charlotte OLC:01? Being that both bottles look virtually the same, only a slighter higher ABV on the OLC:01 and almost the same age statement... The difference in my market is $170 between the two and I'm struggling to pull the trigger one the OLC:01 because I know the PC10 is great and just can't imagine the OLC:01 being $170 'better' if that makes sense.
They do look similar on paper, but the depth, flavour, and complexity are two different worlds. I love the 10, but the OLC is a massive step up in almost every way imo. However, it's about $60 more expensive in my market, and even that's pushing it. If it's $170 more, I'd say give it a pass. It's amazing stuff, but that's just absurd. Australia is not a friendly market for whisky drinkers it seems...
1. I was going to do Octomore but that seemed too obvious so I went with a Staoisha Bunnahabhain IB. Love the PC range though and completely agree with both your picks. Wish I could find the cask exploration more frequently 2. Mac18 Sherry Oak. I know that’s boring but it’s really tasty and this isn’t my style so I don’t have a ton of options. Maybe a glendronach 3. Honestly no idea. This is a style I’d like to experiment with so I’ll try and find your options! UPDATE: after reading other comments I’m seeing Springbank 12 and Local Barley mentioned? If those would count toward this category I’m totally in there. Love both of those and have a Campeltown representation on the list 4. Also Hibiki 21. Also got it for way more reasonable than I could have imagined otherwise I wouldn’t have. Backup would be Not a Luxury Whisky from Compass Box that was extremely luxurious. 5. Also Talisker but the 30. I got a couple before the price sky rocketed and am about to finish the first one. Going to be tough to crack the second knowing I’ll never see it again for a price I’m willing to pay. Backup probably an old grain whisky since it would have the age statement for a relatively reasonable price 6. So many options here. I’m a big IB hound and loved the reveal of this being the mystery category. Probably a Signatory/G&M Caol Ila. Definitely mid teens age statement, cask strength, and maybe a finishing cask since I don’t think anything on the list has used one yet.
Great video! After seeing this i was looking for the Watt Whisky Highland 16 and was able to find for 4.6k TWD. Is it worth the price? Do you recommend to buy it for that price?
From my collection: Peat: Lagavulin 1985 Sherry: Lagavulin 1985 Purist: Lagavulin 1985 Luxury: Lagavulin 1985 Age: Lagavulin 1985 Damm, we are living a hard times for real whisky drinkers, it's tragedy. I can not fin my Springbank 10 in Spain when 5 years ago was aroung 40€...
Good work amigo! I'm with you all the way, mostly on these official bottlings. Kudos to Tamdhu 12, the 46% snob in me never pulled the trigger. Is Bunna 12 really that sherry forward? I was a little surprised you didn't stick with Bruichladdich for the purist. I've got a few independent 2nd fill bourbon but when I want barley forward, the Islay Barley shines. The budget friendly 21 year old Glen Moray I would suggest for both luxury and age. Not a 95+ whisky but it does deliver for both categories. If you're looking for the friendliest dram. I just picked up L18 batch 2 in the silly wooden box again for a very reasonable price. Wondering when the new one will show and if it will be in line with other expensive 18 year olds.
Bunna 12 isn't super sherry forward, but enought to qualify it as a sherry bomb. I love it because it's sherry forward but the casks aren't too heavy or over-the-top. Bruichladdich would have been a good purist pick too. It was considered! Can't say I've seen the Moray 25 in my market, but the 18 is on the wishlist. Glad to hear you found Ledaig 18 for a good price. Those batch releases are getting pricey here in Taiwan. Cheers Jack! 🥃
Glencadam 10 as a backup? I'd have put it up front as the category leader. I went with Deanston 18 on the age-snob list. Before that it was Lag16. I'm with you al the way...the diminishing returns on higher age statement whiskies is palpable. I, of course, just challenged my own assumptions by purchasing a Springbank 15. That ought to impress the luxury lover, age snob, and sherry bomber all in one bottle, although the age snob will prolly ask, "Only 15 years old?"
Such a fun video. Great new challenge, Geoff! And as always, love the humour. :). Right, let's give it a (my limited experience) whirl. :) 1. Peat Freak - Ardbeg Corryvreckan; 2. Sherry Bomber - Aberlour A'bunadh; 3. The Purist - Definitely Glencadam 10; 4. Luxury Lover - Bushmills Millenium bottling; 5. Age Snob - Bushmills 21. And then there's so many more to shoot for as well. I think I'd like to try this in 5 years time again. Great job, bro. Really enjoying the content. :)
Nice video. As usual. For me one type missing. Combination od first two. Budget friendly peated sherry bomber;-) What would you reccomend to Loch Gorm lover but half cheaper? ;-)
That's a tall order. The Sanaig is good, but it can't match the richness of the Loch Gorm. At half the price there really isn't much. It's a different profile, but the Ledaig Sinclair Rioja is a great combination of peat and fruity flavours.
Ok , I have tasted these whisky’s but I can’t afford to buy most of them ,, my list Peated , Ledaig 10 ,, Sherry bomb Aberlour , purity glencadam 13 , luxury Dalmore quintessence, age fettercairn 28 or Arran 25 ,, ,
Peat freak : Torabhaig allt gleann Sherry lover : arran sherry cask / glenallachie 12 Purist : indie Ben Nevis or Auchroisk or Glentauchers or Benrinnes, or Springbank 10 Luxury a**hole : dalmore 12, and I don’t want him ton enjoy it Age snob : Chivas 21, to make him realize age is not everything
Lets not break the bank here... the peat freak: Longrow Peated the sherry bomber: Arran Sherry Cask the purist: Clynelish 14 the luxury lover: Compassbox Hedonism the age snob: Ancnoc 24
Hah I think we all are to one degree or the other, but most of us have a much broader range of appreciation than the caricatures in the video. Maybe you're the IB guy? Best guy to be, at least! 😂🥃
@@Gwhisky yeah, let’s go with that! And by the way, you missed an opportunity I think: whenever you identify an age snob or a luxury snob, why not visit them instead of inviting them over? If they are the braggy kind of sbob, you may yet receive a great pour!
Surprised the Glenfarclas 25 wasn't the "obvious choice". That's about as reasonably priced as it gets for anything over 18 years. Though for the money, people gravitate to the 21 year, or so I hear, which I also have. PeF: Port Charlotte 10 or Ledaig 10 - though if if you ask me the balance of Benromach or Oban 14 is the way to go. ShL: "Old Malt Cask" Aultmore 11yr 1st Fill - I'm cheating with an I.B. but at 64.7%, it'll ask the question, "Is there such a thing as too much sherry?" Pur: Craigellachie 13, Classic Laddie, Bladnoch 10 - no matter the choice, purists will either hate me or love me. Lux: Compass Box Flaming Heart 6th Ltd. - that luxury bastard better have some decent experience under their belt, or I'm not popping the cork on this one. Age: Dewar's Double Double 32yr old - I'll pop this only if age bastard: has decent experience under their belt, AND abstains from any alcohol for 3 weeks minimum. Only a refreshed palette will experience the full force. Otherwise it'll be pearls before swine.
Pretty difficult to compile such a list, but here we go (spoiler, I end up cheating... TWICE!): Peat Freak: Laphroaig 10 CS Release 13, Sherry Bomber: Glen Allachie 12, Purist: Glencadam 15 or Aultmore 18, Luxury Lover: Barbancourt 15 (sorry, not sorry), Age Snob: Darroze Château de Lahitte 40yo (had to choose this one, sorry!). Thanks for the fun video, Geoff!
Interesting choices for your 5 types of whisky drinker. Agree with approx 50% of your selection...which is fair enough. However, can you please refrain from swearing. It does not become you, it lowers the tone and is totally unnecessary. Thanks.
Nice list! For the age snob I would pick Ardbeg 5 and write a 2 next to the 5.
Lol nice.
Cheers! 🥃
Peat Freak: Ardnamurchan C.S. Sherry Lover: Glenallachie 15. The Purist: Glencadam 15 Luxury Lover: Taketsuru 17. Age Snob: Balblair 1991. Nice and entertaining video Geoff 👍
Good picks, Martin! Cheers!
Slainte!
Bowmore 21 AM is breakfast in a glass! One of my favorites. The 22 came up short but was still very good.
I literally fell over laughing out loud when you said Tamdhu 12 ... that was my exact pick, too! It is *the* bottle for snobs that are not actually *that* knowledgeable, but do know a good whisky when they taste it. Very good bang for buck.
Peat Freak - Laphroaig 10CS
Sherry Bomber - Edradour 10 Signatory Vintage
The Purist - Daftmill 10
Luxury Lover/Age Snob - Springbank 21
Great picks! The only one I haven't tried from there is the Daftmill. Expensive and hard-to-get, but it's on the wishlist. Cheers Paul! 🥃
From my current cabinet:
PF= Ardbeg Corryvreckan
SB= Aberlour Abunadh
Pur= Dalwhinnie 15
LL= Laphroaig Lore
AS= I have lovely 15million year old H2O, non chill filtered, natural color but low abv. Best part, I have it on tap.
15 million year old H20 on tap, eh? Ballin'!
Great list, Jack!
Water is much older than that.
Ah yeah... I know the type. Don't think they'd lower themselves to drink anything at mine. 😂
Glenfarclas 21 could probably work as the budget version for the age snob. What I would recommend though is really the door.
Cute concept and cool execution!
Pretty good list. I’m not a whisky snob but life is too short to drink anything except spectacular whisky.
Hah that's fair. Doesn't make you a snob as long as you're open to different things...
Loved your list. I fortunately have some of them and was enjoying the Bunnahabhain CS 2022 and Glencadam 10 whilst I was watching your video. Cheers
Hah that's awesome. Cheers! 🥃
That talisker 25 joke actually made me laugh out loud. Had to rewatch it 3 times
Some cool picks. That's a fancy blend that I've likely never had. I can vouch for the rest, though. 🥃
Great idea!
Peat Freak: Laphroaig 10 CS or Ardbeg Corryvreckan.
Sherry Lover: Aberlour A'bunadh or Glenfarclas 15
Purist: Glen Garrioch Virgin Oak or Clynelish 14 -this is a hard one
Luxury Lover: Chivas Regal 21 Royal Salute (porcelain decanter, awesome box) or Dalmore King Alexander III
Age Snob: Probably would go with a single grain whisky like Wemyss 30
Great picks, buddy! That Glen Garioch Virgin Oak sounds cool. Never heard of it!
Feel free to use the idea for yourself! 🥃
Great video Geoff!
1) Peat freak: Laphroiag 10 CS
2) Sherry bomber: Exactly right, the Bunnahabhain CS. Edradour STFC oloroso would be another choice. It was the Aberlour Abunadh for me a few years ago.
3) Purist: Springbank 10, Glencadam 10, Craigallachie 13
4) Luxury lover: ugh...Not sharing a dram with anyone calling themselves a "luxury lover". But, I'll pour them a cheap Diageo bottling and make up some story around it. Glenmorangie signet comes to mind (when it was
Brora 38 eh? Can't say I've had the pleasure. I need to swing by sometime.
Love the picks! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Never imagined you to be a swinger Geoff, but hey...anytime. :D
Great vid! You should nominate some other whiskytubers to do this too!
I’d go something like:
1. Peat freak - Octomore 8.3 or Laphroaig 10yo CS
2. Sherry bomber - Glenallachie 10CS or Edradour Caledonia
3. Purist - Springbank 12CS/local barley or an IB teaninich/deanston/glentauchers
4. Lux lover - Yamazaki/Macallan 18 or Glenmorangie Signet
5. Age snob - Bunna 25 or Glenfarclas 25
6. My personal snobby picks: Whisky Jury ‘96 Ben Nevis or 1989 Blackadder Bowmore
Some awesome choices, there. Haven't had the pleasure of trying that Octomore, the Ben Nevis, or Bowmore. I can vouch for the rest, though. Cheers! 🥃
Never had a 96 BN that wasn’t fantastic
This was a great video!
Thanks Christopher! 🥃
Very entertaining and relatable :) my picks would be:
Peat Freak: Ledaig 10
Sherry Bomber: Aberlour A'bunadh
Purist: Craigellachie 13 maybe? Purists are unpredictable.
Luxury person: Dalmore King Alexander III
Age: Never had anything older than the Talisker 18. So, yeah, that!
Great ones! Still haven't tried that Dalmore. Too much to pay for a lower abv whisky, although I hear it's good. Cheers! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Definitely overpriced, but if you can find a sample, it is worth checking out!
I would say it's a better version of cigar malt, more deep, and do provide luxurious vibe.
Cheers!
The signatory edradour is a great shout
Looking at my collection: 1. the peat freak - Coompass box Peat Monster Arcana
2. the sherry bomber - Edradour 10 yr cask strenght sherry butt
3. the purist - Mortlach 16 or some SMWS
4. the luxury lover - Macallen No6 Blue Edition
5. the age snob - Glendronach 18 (its really like 22)
Finally! A video for snobs!
Good list mr.Geoff )
PF-Laphroaig CS
Sherry- Arran SC
The Purist - Glen Morey 18
L.L.- Glenmorangie Signet

First time adding a comment here. I love the channel and the tips. Here are my choices and I think I'm on the cheaper side of the spectrum :) Peat Freak - Ardbeg Uigeadail, Sherry Bomber - Arran Bodega Sherry Cask, The Purist - Cragiellachie 13, Luxury Lover - Mortlach 16, Age snob - Glen Scotia 18.
Thanks for commenting, and the kind words are appreciated Osmar! I can vouch for all of your picks. Great whiskies! 🥃
That does it. I'm buying a bottle of Bunna 12 CS ASAP ... slept on it long enough. Fantastic idea and equally fantastic list. 👏👏👏

Octomore 15.1 / Port Charlotte 10
Aberlour A'bunadh / Bunnahabian 12
Craigellachie 13
Laphroaig single cask select / Hibiki Harmony
J.P. Wiser's 42 year / either Laphroaig 25, Glenfarclas 25, Glenmorangie 18 or Knob Creek 18 depending on their taste
Peat: Octomore 11.1
Sherry: Edradour SFTC 10YO
Purist: Glencadam 11YO single cask
Luxury Lover: Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask
Age Snob: The Old Malt Cask (IB) Glenallachie 27YO 😂
Solid picks. The Octomore, the Glencadam, and the Old Malt Cask all sound fantastic! 🥃

Peat Freak - Kilkerran Heavily Peated or Ardbeg Uigeadail
Sherry Lover - Edradour Caledonia or Arran 18
Purist - Cheap option has to be Clynelish 14 or Aultmore 18
Luxury - Fakkem!! I do have open bottles of a single cask Springbank 23 and Old Pulteney 21 but I'm not sharing.
Age - Arran 18/21 but I also love the Ledaig 18
Good choices! 🥃
Solist Vinho would work perfectly there. Seems it's time to make a Costco run! 🥃
@@Gwhisky 😅Sorry, the special Kavalan on sale seemed to end after Lunar New Year vacation (It would start before Christmas every year and end after Lunar Vacation)
it is fun and great listings!!
Thanks Tim! 🥃
Another great video! My picks:
Peat Freak: any Octomore but out of my collection probably 10.4
CS sherry lover: Tamdhu CS or a Glenallachie single cask
Purist: Arran 10 or Laddie
Luxury lover: Kavalan Solist Vinho
Age Snob: Black Art 10.1
Good choices. Never tried a Black Arts release but I hope to someday! 🥃
I've had all of those and they're all fantastic choices! Jealous that you've got an OP17! 🥃
Peat: Longrow 11 Tawny Port Cask
Sherry: Arran Sherry Bodega
Purist: Arran Quarter Bothy
Age: Linkwood 25 Gordon McPhail
Luxury: Glenmorangie Signet
That age one, though. Great picks! 🥃
Enjoyed the video as well as your reviews. Great responses from your fans. Two years into scotch and I realize I've barely scratched the surface. As a current peat freak, I love the Laphroiag 10 CS.
Thanks Joe, glad you're enjoying the channel. Laphroaig 10 CS is a beauty! 🥃
All picks are in the mid range from glancing through my modest cabinet
Peat: Glenturret 10 Peat Smoked
Sherry: Arran Sherry Cask (CS)
Purist: Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2012
Luxury: Octomore 10 Year
Age: Oldest I got is Talisker 18, so that's what they get!
Bonus IB: Auld Goonsy's Malt: Benrinnes 12 (CS)
Awesome choices. I haven't had the 10 year Octomore of the Auld Goonsy's Benrinnes, but I can vouch for the rest! 🥃
Hi Geoff, what do you think of my list below?
Peatfreak: Laphroaig 10 CS
Sherry Bomber: Glen Garioch 15 sherry cask
Purist: Bruichladdich black art
Luxury lover: Balvenie 40
Age snob: Glenfarclas 50
Oof. Some killers in there. Fancy! Still never tried a Black Art. Love the Garioch 15 Sherry! 🥃
From my collection:
Peat: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength
Sherry: Glenallachie 15
Purist: Linkwood 12 Signatory Vintage
Luxury: Springbank 18
Age: Glenfarclas 25
That Linkwood sounds interesting! Good list, Hank! 🥃
Lol ouch on that Macallan! Good picks! 🥃
From my stock:
Peat freak: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength
Sherry Bomb: Glenallachie 10 Cask Strength
Purist: Dailuaine 21 from Hart Brothers
Luxury: Johnnie Walker Red Label... (by the way, compare the nose of Red Label to Springbank 10, there are - far, far away - (according to my nose) some tiny similarities)
Age Snob: Arran 21
Nice ones. That Dailuaine 21 sounds incredible! 🥃
I'm worried I might sound like one (or more) of the categories you don't want to know, but:
1. the peat freak - Laphroaig SMWS 29.98 "The Devil Rides Out" or Octomore 06.3
2. the sherry bomber - Tamdhu Dalbeallie Dram 04 or Glengoyne Teapot Dram 003
3. the purist - Caperdonich (Duncan Taylor) 1972-2008 or Pittyvaich 26 Forager's Keep
4. the luxury lover* - Hankey Bannister 40 year old or Royal Salute 21 (name recognition)
5. the age snob* - Benromach 1974 41 year old or Ladyburn 1974 40 year old
*Of course, my two 'birthday drams' - Highland Park The Dragon 1961 and Ledaig 42 year old Dùsgadh - would work for both 4 and 5... but they can keep their paws off!
Fancy fancy! Cool picks! 🥃
Thank you for the great content.

Interesting spin off, Geoff.
Curious what you had in mind for me 😎... great pick, however I would go for a bourbon matured.
My picks:
Peat: Staoisha cask strength
Sherry: Tamdhu 15yo
Purist: Bourbon matured like indeed the Glencadam 10yo.
Luxury: if you are into great packaging?..... an empty tube for those guys.
Age: and old single grain like Invergordon or Girvan. Had both of those over 30yo. Great stuff

Purist: Aultmore 12yo
Luxery: -
Age: Arran 21yo
IB: The Ultimate Coal Ila 2011 10yo
For aged snob,my affordable whisky will be the Glenfarclas 25.
Peat: Benriach 10 Curiositas (discontinued). Sherry: Scallywag blended malt. Purity: Ben Nevis 10 (43% version). Age: AnCnoc 24. Luxury: Compass Box Phenomenology.
Good ones! Love the AnCnoc 24! 🥃

Some great whiskies in there, David. I vouch for every single one of them! 🥃
What a title : what a vid !
Great topic! here's my pick:
Peat Freak: Octomore X.2 (special cask version)
Sherry Bomber: Edradour Caledonia (sherry bomb without oversweet)
The Purist: Glenmorangie Tusail (very clean)
Luxury Lover: Glenmorangie Signet (just touch the bottle will do the trick) BTW, does Mortlach 12y taste "luxurious"?
Age Snob: Dewars 21y double aged (blend, but better and cheaper than some 21y single malt)
Some great picks, Allan! I haven't tried that Octomore or the Tusail. Dewars 21 is a surprising choice from you. Thanks for sharing, buddy! 🥃

Sherried: Tamdhu Cask Strength or Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban (Correction: Glenmorangie 12 Lasanta)
Purist: Glen Moray 18 or Glencadam 15
Luxury: Glenmorangie Signet or Glen Scotia Victoriana
Age Snob: Glenfarclas 25 or BenRiach 21
Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban is port cask finished

What, no 30+ year malts? Pshaw, I'm offended! 😆
"Age snob - the finger" 😂😂😂
Great Video, i love the Categories.
My List would be:
Peat Freak : Williamson CS (Most are between 8-11yo, all IBs) or the Laphroaig CS
Sherry Bomber : Glentauchers 21 (by G+M Connaiseurs Choice) or Aberlour A Bunadh
Purist : Craigellachie 6yo ( IB by van Wees) or a Stauning Rye in Standardversion (there are some Versions out there)
Luxury Lover: Strathclyde 31yo Single Grain (Black Octave by Duncan Taylor) or
Cigar Malt 4.Edition 17yo by Brühler Whiskyhaus
Age : Bunnahabhain 28yo (IB by SMoS) or Glendronach 21 Parliament
All Choices based on todays Reserves in the Closet 😅
Awesome picks. Can't say I've tried a single one of them, but they sound good. Hah! 🥃
It’s not her money! Spat my coffee out, so awesome.
For what’s in my cabinet:
Octomore 11.1/PC10
Glendronach CS batch 11/ Fannys Bay Sherry single cask CS,
Glencadam 10/ Overeem Ex-bourbon,
Sullivans Cove ex Tawny / Springbank 10
New Zealand South Island 25yo - Dunedin
Sullivans cove is so freakin’ expensive
And not even that good. IMO.
If you’re getting something from Tassie, Callington Mill, Hillwood, Fannys Bay, Overeem all far better. Even Launceston Distillery is good. Can’t forget Heartwood/TIB
Ah this was a fun video! You should start tagging other whiskytube members to chime in with their picks. I'll give it a go myself:
Peat Freak: Laphroig LORE, alt: Port Charlotte 10
Sherry Bomber: Bunnahabhain 12 CS (2022) alt: Edradour Caledonia or Glenallachie 15 or 12
Purist: Springbank 10 alt: Glencadam 15 or 10
Lux Lover: Joseph A. Magnus Cigar Malt (USA) alt: Glemorangie Signet
Age Snob: RedBreast 21 (Ireland), alt; Edradour 21 Oloroso
Great picks! You're right... I should have tagged others! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Thanks mate, yeah we have some absurd prices here unfortunately, some of the highest spirits tax in the world 😢
1. I was going to do Octomore but that seemed too obvious so I went with a Staoisha Bunnahabhain IB. Love the PC range though and completely agree with both your picks. Wish I could find the cask exploration more frequently
2. Mac18 Sherry Oak. I know that’s boring but it’s really tasty and this isn’t my style so I don’t have a ton of options. Maybe a glendronach
3. Honestly no idea. This is a style I’d like to experiment with so I’ll try and find your options! UPDATE: after reading other comments I’m seeing Springbank 12 and Local Barley mentioned? If those would count toward this category I’m totally in there. Love both of those and have a Campeltown representation on the list
Backup probably an old grain whisky since it would have the age statement for a relatively reasonable price
Hah cheers, buddy. Great list! Man I really need to try some Australian & NZ whiskies at some point.... 🥃
From my collection:
Peat: Lagavulin 1985
Sherry: Lagavulin 1985
Purist: Lagavulin 1985
Luxury: Lagavulin 1985
Age: Lagavulin 1985
Damm, we are living a hard times for real whisky drinkers, it's tragedy. I can not fin my Springbank 10 in Spain when 5 years ago was aroung 40€...
I'm noticing a theme with your picks....
Yeah Springbank 10 was very affordable in most markets until just a year or two ago. Sucks...
I'd serve the purist a glass of distilled water. Nothing more pure than that.
😂😂😂
I was expecting Craigallchie 13 in this list.😌
I'm kind of surprised myself!
I think if you've got any Sprinbank at all you'll be impressing any kind of snob! 🥃
Such a fun video. Great new challenge, Geoff! And as always, love the humour. :). Right, let's give it a (my limited experience) whirl. :)
Thanks Richard. Some really solid picks there! Apparently I've been sleeping on Bushmills...
Cheers! 🥃
From my small collection so far:
Peat Freak: PC10/Ardbeg Wee Beastie
Sherry Bomber: Aberlour Abunadh/Bunna12 CS
Purist: Deanston 12/Clynelish Reserve GOT
Luxury Lover: Hibiki Master Select/Glendronach Cask Strength/Any of my Lagavulin Offerman Edition?
Age Snob: Redbreast 12 Cask Strength? 😉👍
Great picks! Can't argue with any of those! 🥃
Nice video.
@Auberginenpeter must try somewhen. Here it is more expensive than Loch Gorm ;-)
@@Gwhisky Yes. Sanaig is good. Just looking for something new 😉 Probably will finish witch Kilchoman again. Thanks!
@Auberginenpeter WOW I gotta start shopping in Germany - here in Poland the Sherry oak is 126 euro.
Benromach Peat Smoke Sherry Cask 2012/2021 sells for NZ$ 96, aprox 57.17 Euros
Do you have any recommendations for port whiskies ?
In your opinion…Talisker 18 vs T25… worth the price jump??
I do like 25 more, but only slightly. Not worth such a dramatic jump imo. The 18 is already incredible. Cheers John. 🥃
@auberginenpeter7189 True. I bought my 18 before the price hike last year, luckily.
peat freak: laphroaig lore
sherry bomber: glenallachie 12
exp. looking: ardbeg 10
purist: benrinnes
age: invergordon
Nice ones! Can't say I've ever tried an Invergordon...
Ok , I have tasted these whisky’s but I can’t afford to buy most of them ,, my list Peated , Ledaig 10 ,, Sherry bomb Aberlour , purity glencadam 13 , luxury Dalmore quintessence, age fettercairn 28 or Arran 25 ,, ,
That Fettercairn 28 sounds interesting and the Arran 25 is on the wishlist. Both sadly outside my budget, though. Thanks for sharing! 🥃
Peat freak : Torabhaig allt gleann
Sherry lover : arran sherry cask / glenallachie 12
Purist : indie Ben Nevis or Auchroisk or Glentauchers or Benrinnes, or Springbank 10
Luxury a**hole : dalmore 12, and I don’t want him ton enjoy it
Age snob : Chivas 21, to make him realize age is not everything
Lol on the luxury pick! Still haven't tried a Torabhaig yet. It's on the wishlist. Great choices! 🥃
Could you make a list with only purist? 🤞
Lets not break the bank here...
the peat freak: Longrow Peated
the sherry bomber: Arran Sherry Cask
the purist: Clynelish 14
the luxury lover: Compassbox Hedonism
the age snob: Ancnoc 24
Good ones! 🥃
I no longer offer my better product to people unless they do the same for me. Tired of the friend who drinks quality product and offers crap
Hah fair enough. I agree. Generosity should be reciprocal. 🥃
Yeah. I am impressed. Now the question remains: am I a whisky snob? And if so, what kind? Questions…
@wouterblom7569 Hah that's a great point!
Love your videos and recommendations. Please keep them coming! Also, feel free to change "Luxury Whisky" category to "F-Off Whisky"
Hah I should. Thanks for the kind words, Jeff! 🥃
Watt did a nice secret Clynelish bottling in 2017 or thereabouts
Sounds great! I have a lot of faith in Watt. Great selections! 🥃
ShL: "Old Malt Cask" Aultmore 11yr 1st Fill - I'm cheating with an I.B. but at 64.7%, it'll ask the question, "Is there such a thing as too much sherry?"
Pur: Craigellachie 13, Classic Laddie, Bladnoch 10 - no matter the choice, purists will either hate me or love me.
Some cool choices in there! Haven't had quite a few of those. I keep hearing good things about that Dewar's 32.... 🥃
Is it bad if someone is all five at once?
Nope! Better, really, as you're not stuck to one particular type of whisky! 🥃
Dang any night you are drinking talisker 25 is a very very good night
Hah true. 🥃
Do you recommend an Armagnac for a Malt Drinker ? I never had one but i hear more and more these Times.
@@Balkonwhisky Definitely yes. Start with something decent (43% +) and see where it takes you. The stuff is incredible, so I can't recommend it enough
Armagnac can be beautiful stuff! Great list! 🥃
OK i will try when the Opportunity is there.
Greets
Who's bothered in even attempting to impress a snob?! 😉
True!
Interesting choices for your 5 types of whisky drinker.
Agree with approx 50% of your selection...which is fair enough.
However, can you please refrain from swearing. It does not become you, it lowers the tone and is totally unnecessary.
Thanks.
Fantastic, pity for the bad language...
tsk tsk tsk
I somehow missed the bad language :(
@@Gwhisky As a fellow Canadian who likes to let a good bomb fly every once in a while they actually resonated well with me
