Tbh, I think she's the greatest Earthbender that ever existed. And ok, I'm sure that her being blind helped, it formed a connection with the mole-things who are also blind... But that was just for her tremorsense and the start of her bending. Just look at the way she created metalbending ! She just focused on what she did the best : bending earth, and so the one present in the metal. She could have done this even with her eyes, like Bloodbending became a thing.
