Blame the engineers.... as a drummer engineer, coming from 45 years of digital and tape.... I had that stuff he has, back in the day.. blame the engineer.., room, drum tuning and drummer, in reverse order usually.
Other than the reverb, and upermidrange issues. Cool gear though. Have to hear some audio to see what the mixes come out like. That gear in a great room would be great.
This is nifty man! I just got an old tascam board that I believe has the same preamps as that 388. Man but nothing looks as cool as the 388. You're right they keep going up in value in america too not just UK. When was the last time it got used? I could get a separate tape machine to attach to my tascam analog board, but then I gotta get dbx etc and I'm too lazy for it haha. I love this studio it's beautiful

our first ep was recorded on tape. The drums sound so much bigger and thicker than any subsequent digital recording.

The 163x is a MOJO comp! I also have a 463x gate that can be slaved to the 163x as a stereo compressor! Super useful.

It's been a while since he has run the 388 in a serious recording session. But it still works like a champ. Has a really cool sound to it.
