Hi Lex. Going back to preflop with the 88 hand. Villain flats out of the small blind so he can't have anything too strong. Especially with the cutoff cold calling the sb should be squeezing with his big pocket pairs, AK etc. On the flop, with his check shove he is repping a set of 6, TT, 99 or some flopped flushes. It is a tough spot. You are drawing dead against made flushes as all the lower flushes are blocked by the board. Mayb against this player it is a fold.

In the situation where you have the 8s it is better to fold and find a better spot to stack him, there is so many hands that can be beating you and if not there is a so many turn and river cards that could be putting you in worse shape if you aren't drawing dead already

I had almost the same situation with pockets 8’s. I 3 bet the next guy 4 bets and the next guy 5 bets. I fold the 4 better shoves the 5 better calls. The 4 better has AA 5 better has QQ and the flop comes 8 high. Well shit. In the long run it’s the right play but I hated to see the 8 on the flop.
