This game was so much fun.....20ish years ago. The glitches are hilarious. My favorite is that with 1 set of macement and a battering ram, you can take the flag in the lowest level castle and win against any computer opponent. Just rush it.
Awwww yeah I just downloaded this off of steam. I remember watching my older brother play a lot when I was younger and I couldn’t beat the game. Neither could he now that I think of it.
Impressive, never thought I'd ever learn anything new about this game with the disgusting amount of hours I've put into it over two decades, leeching counties high taxes and moving to a fresh county slaughtering villagers as you progress creating only Knight's and macemen and creating multiple armys of 65 capacity to destroy opponents econ so they are left bare till you arrive seems to be the fastest way of progression in any of the maps, the trick with the castle to upgrade automatically to higher taxes is genius, as well as the triple food less consumption is low key crazy, I'm sure we can have an incredible nerdy conversation about this game and it's ability to play it aggressively or safe, also when capturing flags knights ignore the attack and movement speed of other units when running by them cuts down on units lost and makes it much faster to capture, also 🗡️ men seem to be the best option for copping down the inner keep wall to gain access to the royal keeps flag, really enjoyed the run man super neat someone else has enjoyed this game as much as I have over the years, I still play it..

I made a discord server for the game, but then never published an invite. Maybe I should go back and do that. Lately I've been playing 'impossible' + 'advanced farming' + 'armies eat' without glitches, fun challenge.
Ive never used glitches or searched for them, feel like a purest lol, but it's neat to know they exist now, always knew they did just didn't look, crazy how ppl are smart enough to break games, always knew someone would beat Zelda orc of time at the starting village just never thought seven minutes would be possible as well..

I wish we understood the numbers behind Auto-Calc. From what I can tell, armies with knights and crossbowmen do the best in auto-calc, where the regular archer/pikemen composition does better when you play it out. Especially when it comes to castles.
Nice run. I like it how you abuse your serfs lol. The macemen trick seems to work decent. I always built only archers, because they are OP, but macemen are also useful as "discount knights"(and can dig). Try Siege Pack later?
Archers are pretty nice. Archers + Pikes are great when taking the field for normal battles. Yeah, I hope to get to the Siege Pack sometime. Maces aren't OP for autocalc with Siege Pack on, will need new strats
Yeah, archers are so cheap, but efficient, no county needed with iron mine. Pikemen are good for tanking with their high armour. It seems autocalc was changed anyway throghout the versions, back in the day with the CD version of the original game autocalc often killed even armies with over 1000 soldiers in sieges, but in the GOG version it seems to be ok at least.
I hope all the voice actors who contributed to this game know how memorable they made the experience. "COME ON LADS"

i feel bad for asking only now but did you have a guide on a paper in front of you while playing?
Yes, I had printed out a sketch of what I planned to do for the first few turns on some of the maps that I had worked out beforehand.
