I asked Mr. Webster and this is his reply, "That fire is mentioned in my book on the subject. It was Sunday, June 21, 1970. It occurred just at Richard Schilling was remodeling the club he had just purchased. It was determined to be arson by the Southgate authorities. It is believed that the Mob set the fire as Mr. Schilling was unwilling to share his profits as so many other clubs in the area had been "persuaded" to do." A lot of people in authority failed these citizens! I can’t believe common sense things to keep the building and the citizens safe, was not done. How stupid people can be, money was talking, good and bad, that caused the innocent to perish. Shame on those people of authority. Where was security, was any security hired, to keep things safe, I doubt it!
