Hello everyone. I made a little mistake in editing. In the clip where it says "En toe antwoord hy en sê ek moet so bietjie wag. Hy is nou daar.", the "Hy is nou daar" part should not be there Sorry guys! If you struggle to understand where I am saying those words it is because I didn't record them I went over it so many times before posting and still missed that. Thank so much for watching and I am so glad that you enjoy these videos!
Love it !! It does feel intimidating when trying to remember the rules of constructing sentences while trying to figure out what you’re saying without looking at the English translation. I feel like different sources have different ways of constructing sentences in Afrikaans
Hi. I think it is much more difficult when it comes to dialogue, because we speak so informally. We often don't use complete sentences when chatting to someone. Then there is the matter of which dialect is being used. That will depend on where in the country the speakers come from and how formal / informal the conversation is. Thanks so much for watching!
@@ETAfrikaans Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. My overall fear is trying to get as close to a proper sentence that an actual Afrikaans speaker would not understand what I’m trying to say. I don’t want to botch the language, but also find where that happy medium is where I’m not trying to be super methodical about sentence construction, whilst still getting by in a conversation as fluidly as possible by using systems like STOMPI etc. Thank you so much for your well thought out response as well as your videos, ET !!
@@ETAfrikaans 😀 It's an awesome idea to use funny / relatable stories to teach people a language. Captivates their interest and improves overall learning. I'm recommending your channel to people I know who need help with Afrikaans. Keep up the good work!
Yes, that is correct, but when we speak to each other and use cellphones we often use the English terms. That is why I put "speaker" in quotation marks. We don't ever say "ek sit jou op luidspreker". These videos are meant to reflect conversational Afrikaans and that is often not "pure" Afrikaans.

Dit is in elk geval baie oulik!
Speaker is luidspreker
Gesels van gezelen ,iemand openlik afstraffen op byv. Op de markt of plein . Ook wel aan die skandpaal nagelen
Verneukt , belazerd
'Speaker' is ingels. In Afrikaans is dit LUIDSPREKER.

Gesels , praten.
Sommer, einster en baie meer intersante woorde.
