Can you make a video about words we use at school like "what was homework" or something like that
@@AbyssForgeYT Hallo. Absolutely yes! Thanks so much for your request!
@@ETAfrikaans It's ok kind of suggested it for people who are struggling with tests and vocabulary ( me LOL)
hey! it kinda looks like all the "exceptions we've covered in this series are really just words that follow a different rule that we were unaware of before, would I be correct in saying that, or nah?
@@teachyourselfacademy9787 Hello. Yeah, it is the case for quite a few of the exceptions. Some of the exceptions follow no rule and must just be memorised.
@@ETAfrikaans oh thank God lol, also thanks for the response I appreciate it, I’ve been trying to learn Afrikaans for a year but I’m nay just found your channel, you’re a life saver.
@@teachyourselfacademy9787 Super glad you found me! I sincerely hope my videos can help you conquer Afrikaans. Thanks so much for watching and commenting😃
Please make more of these I wanna be able to hold conversations with Afrikaaners cause most of my friends are Afrikaaners
Important Note!! In the "verruil" clips, both these sentences must get a NIE at the end: "ek sal jou vir niks verruil nie" and "ek het jou vir niks verruil nie". When we form sentences containing 'niks', it must end with a NIE. Sorry for the mistake guys!🙈
Hi ET Thank you so much for your video. The 'ruil' sentences were very helpful!👍 Much appreciated 😊
Wissel = differs from one point in time to the next /switch between states of being / switch back and forth between things (more or less). We have afwissel / wissel af and verwissel. Maybe I should make a video on wissel as well.🤔
Lekker
'n Jackal is 'n jakkals. 'n Vos is 'n fox.
What language?
@@GoodBiDignity1380 Hello. This is Afrikaans.
Baie dankie
@@SmayileTimothy-sl1tz Groot plesier!!
A lot of fun (as a Dutch guy) to hear how Dutch changed in Afrikaans. eg "Van die os op die jas" would be "Van de hak op de tak" in Dutch.
Hi ET please help me sometime with sentences using ruil, omruil, verruil en geruil. The Afrikaans dictionaries examples all sound the same
@@delraetharratt2512 Thank you so so much for your request! It is an awesome video idea. I will do my best to provide as much clarity as possible.

Thank you! Afrikaans pronouns are a struggle for me and this took the jumbled pile and made sense of it.
@@mort4928Absolutely my pleasure. So glad this video is helpful!
Hello everyone. A little bit more about the "sy" and "syne" pronouns as they pertain to inanimate objects. As I have said in the video, we use "sy" and "syne" as a genderless pronoun when we refer to objects such as chairs, bikes and shoes etc. There are instances in which we use the pronoun "haar" and "hare" as they pertain to inanimate obejcts, but they are rare. Maybe to refer to a boat, which is often female in various languages. Some people might refer to their cars as female😁 For animals we use the pronouns that apply to their gender, EXCEPT when they are both genders...like snails - they are both male and female. In that case we use the pronouns "sy" and "syne", like we do with inanimate objects.
May you make a video talking about 1st 2nd and 3rd conditionals in Afrikaans asseblief?
@@CandidoRaul Hi. Thanks so much for your request. This is a wonderful challenge😃 Afrikaans is said to have four conditional sentence types, so I think four videos, one building on the next possibly🤔🫡

Very interesting. I took Afrikaans for four years in high school and am far from fluent, however, I really enjoy boeremusiek and often watch the Krone shows on TH-cam. I wish that the DVD's were available in Canada.

I (English guy) sat through this with my Afrikaans wife, and I was trying to find the English equivalents for these. The only one that has ZERO equivalent in my language, at all, is "Tande Tel" Enjoyed this, thanks. Keep 'em coming. My kids are tweetalig but I'm waaay behind after I told my Afrikaans teacher - Mevrouw Greyling - some thirty years ago, that I would make it a personal agenda of mine to purposefully never learn the language. I'm getting over it now lol.
