What if you want the opposite?there will be an output whenever there are NO object detected?

you can put the Inverting input to the transmitter, and non-inverting input to the receiver. Anyway, It doesn't really matter though, you can even put a pnp-transistor at the output of the same circuit in switch config to get what you want.
