Finally, someone who understands the joy in energy data. I have been watching a number of ASHP videos, hence TH-cam introduced me to your channel. Your presentation style is brilliant and so informative. You deserve more subscribers; I really think you need to work harder at plugging that point. Have to admit, thought I had stumbled across Alan Tictmarsh at first.

Hi Michael. Once again a great presentation. What’s not to like about a spreadsheet. I am waiting for my Smart Meter to start displaying readings having had one installed 10 days ago. I’ll start taking weekly readings as soon as I can. Thank you for the effort you’ve put into your videos and the spreadsheet.

Steve, thank you for your kind words.
I realised after I had written the article and the spreadsheet that I had neglected the possibility of reading directly from the hand-held units of smart meters. I have now added a separate spreadsheet for reading from these hand-held units. It's an extra link right at the end of the article

      All the best

Interesting video, nice to be able to see the energy savings, as with increasing energy prices you can't go by how much you are paying. You could have significantly reduced energy use but still be paying more, so nice to be able to see you actually are using less.
I did initially think video was going to be a bit different looking at a more granular level i.e. over course of a day the energy in and energy out vs the outside temp and resulting indoor temp, kinda like stats for the Heating my Home video

Thanks. I have great data on energy consumption versus outside temperature. Perhaps I should make another video about that!

fab visualisations as always and clear explanations. You should get in touch with octopus, other energy companies - would be fantastic to be able to see these kinds of month/year/multiyear graphs direct from their meter data (especially ones with smart meters )

Dear Mr Klaw. Good idea. I will send them a message. Thank you! M

    as always amazing.
There are ways to get that data automatically, for instance using Octopus energy APIs. That way you don't have to take the readings everyday manually

Gregg: Hi. In honesty, I don't know how to do the API thing, and not everyone is with Octopus.
Also I feel the business of doing a thing manually helps one pay attention to the issues. For me, I love finding out each weekend where the next data point on the graph will lie! In honesty, it is one of the highlights of my week. I hope that doesn't sound too sad.
      Every best wish: Michael

@@michaeldepodesta001 I do have Octopus and love the data they produce.....which I then transfer to my own spreadsheet!😀
