Handy tip: Watch the video at 1.5 speed, if you miss something then stop the video to look at the info or slow the video down so you can understand what is being said. I'm glad I watched the video in full as I thought it was a great summary of installing solar and I learned a few useful things.
Dear Michael, Yet another precise illustration as to how to reduce your carbon foot print. I have a similar setup than yourself (except for the heat pump to be installed in 2024) and can only echo your comments. Thank you.
Dear @fje1948 - thanks for your kind words. And good luck with your heat pump installation. I'm just working on an article about the 5 most common errors installing heat pumps - so perhaps check the web site for that in the coming days! M
Hi Michael, thanks very much for the shout out 😃 I think your talk is happening at the moment - hope it's going well - I watched it on the video and it's well presented - all the best! Gary
Gary: I am honoured that you even noticed my talk! Your channel provides rock-solid information on some of the tricky technical nuances of solar installation. Best wishes in your endeavours. M
Many thanks Michael! We’re hoping to get solar PV, battery and heat pump installed in the next 6m. Yours and ‘Gary does solar’s TH-cam videos have been incredibly educational and helpful. Thanks so much!
Good Evening and thank you for your kind words: I wish you good luck with your endeavours: it's really important that do what they can despite the difficulties and uncertainties. Best wishes Michael
Very timely for me. My panels are going up at the end of this month. I am a bit worried about pigeons. This has not been discussed with my installer as yet! 🐦
Chris, Good Evening: I strongly recommend installing some pigeon protection: it's cheap when the panels are installed, but expensive if you have to do it later. Best wishes Michael
Hi Michael, thanks for the talk and hope the one in person also went well. By the way I think your slides link in the description is broken (but currently one can easily find it on your blog, being recent). One topic dear to my heart is DIY battery storage where non-grade-A cells can be assembled to form cheaper storage; this seems to me to be a win as cells which did not make the automotive grade are repurposed to a less challenging life, and is cost-effective at less than £150/kWh. For instance, Fogstar is selling 14.4kWh Mason DIY kits for just over £2000. Perhaps this is more on the "advanced DIYer" end of the spectrum, but could make a big difference in the cost-effectiveness of solar and heat pump adoption.
Asa, Good afternoon. What a famous name you have. Are you related to the former Vice Chancellor of Sussex University? Anyway. Firstly the in-person talk was adequate. Secondly. Yes I think it is very much for "advanced DIYer". The powers involved - multiple kW - are potentially lethal and the environmental control is quite important too. I am happy to see people who have done this on TH-cam, but it's not for me. Thirdly, Regarding the link, I just checked it and the Powerpoint file dowloaded OK for me. Good Morning. Drop me a line at house@depodesta.net and I will send you weekly data for the last two years. It should also feature in an article on the blog in the next few weeks - mid-summer is the best time to look back at the heating season. Best wishes Michael

Nick, Good Evening. I feel like I ought to feel insulted, but actually, that's a really good idea!
All the best
Michael

Thank you. I’ve asked my installer what he can offer. I hope the talk went well.
@@ChrisJakins Thanks Chris. The talk was adequate, but not every one can be the best!

Excellent video Michael! I would love to learn more on how much your Arotherm heat pump consumes in terms of power.
