    The number one thing that got me through the pandemic was lentils in the crock pot. Lentils are cheap, nutritious and you can do anything within the imagination with them.

    I made this tonite and soooo good. I was able to find the browning sauce in my regular supermarket all the way up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada! I baked mine in my cast iron dutch oven @ 275 deg. for 5 hours and they turned out perfect! Thanks so much for sharing!

    Prepared this recipe today. Great flavours, Chris! Warning there is a difference between a Slow Cooker and a Crock Pot. Chris I believe that you are using a Crock Pot so all cooked well in 6 hours. My slow cooker has a removable ceramic container sitting in a metal base. After 10 hours the lentils were still hard. I had to finish it up in a turkey roaster in the oven which took another 1 hour - 1.5 hours. Otherwise, all good. Thanks.

    Chris. Why the slowcooker? What is the difference in the end result from stewing in a pot? Do you find there a lot of difference between the taste when using stock or water? This is how I was taught to make it from home except for the browning, molasses and syrup. If I used pumpkin instead, would I use so much? I have never cooked it with squash. Anyway I will try your recipe. Thanks

    • @monkeeblue
      @monkeeblue 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Liquid gravy browning. Adds colour and a little flavour. If you're in Canada, Grace brand is a good one that's widely available. Mr. Gouda's is another one I find available in Canada. Crosse & Blackwell from the UK is good too and available in North America.
