The number one thing that got me through the pandemic was lentils in the crock pot. Lentils are cheap, nutritious and you can do anything within the imagination with them.
I made this tonite and soooo good. I was able to find the browning sauce in my regular supermarket all the way up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada! I baked mine in my cast iron dutch oven @ 275 deg. for 5 hours and they turned out perfect! Thanks so much for sharing!
Yes! Chris. I was happily surprised when I got this alert this morning. I've never known how to make it, but love it so much. With a Carribean twist I know this is going to be good.👌👌💗
I was looking at 6 different lentil recipe soups and then I thought I'd try one more, #7, and yours is the bomb that I am going to make ! Thx Mr. Chris !! Fabulous ingredients !!
Hi Chris! Long time watcher, first time commenter. I eat vegan myself and I am pretty sure I have cooked every single one of your #meatfreemonday recipes. Thank you so much for sharing these recipes! I also recreate your chicken recipes with vegan chicken substitues, which is a delight as well. Have a beautiful day, and thanks again.
Was thinking of making something with the 2 lbs of lentils and pumpkin I have. After seeing this I'm going to make it soon. Thank you for sharing this!!!
Good morning Chris, omg this looks delish. I could have a bowl with crusty bread for breakfast, with all those aromatics i guess you could onit coconut milk. Glad you are well, stay well and blessed.
Prepared this recipe today. Great flavours, Chris! Warning there is a difference between a Slow Cooker and a Crock Pot. Chris I believe that you are using a Crock Pot so all cooked well in 6 hours. My slow cooker has a removable ceramic container sitting in a metal base. After 10 hours the lentils were still hard. I had to finish it up in a turkey roaster in the oven which took another 1 hour - 1.5 hours. Otherwise, all good. Thanks.
Chris. Why the slowcooker? What is the difference in the end result from stewing in a pot? Do you find there a lot of difference between the taste when using stock or water? This is how I was taught to make it from home except for the browning, molasses and syrup. If I used pumpkin instead, would I use so much? I have never cooked it with squash. Anyway I will try your recipe. Thanks
Thank you Chris! Im definitely going to try this. I like to eat vegan once a week. I made your oxtail stew on Saturday, it came out good! Keep making more videos!
Chris I made the stew goat yesterday. It was mmm mmm good. Wondering where you got the malases. Bought browning for my black cake. I don't have the art of making the camel from scratch.
WOWWW that looks delicious, but I don't have the spices you have and it's a bit much for me being I'm cooking for one. 🤣🤣🤣 ALL I have is celery, carrots and a few dried spices ooh and onions. That's enough isn't it to at least taste pretty good, I HOPE. If so I'll try a small pot. 😃😃
Liquid gravy browning. Adds colour and a little flavour. If you're in Canada, Grace brand is a good one that's widely available. Mr. Gouda's is another one I find available in Canada. Crosse & Blackwell from the UK is good too and available in North America.
Waaay to complicated of a recipe. What was that 100 ingredients? Lol I like my crockpot recipes simple… this is far from simple in terms of the prep. Pass!
This is simmering in my slow cooker now. Glad I had most of the ingredients handy. Thank you ☺️
Chris is the Bob Ross of cooking...
That slow cooker is a life saver
Must make, so healthy and 😋 thx. For sharing 😊

Laughter is the brightest where food is best.

Thank you! 😊
What temperature did you cook it on?
Looks good, still learning in the kitchen so please pardon this question: what would you eat this with? Rice? Provision? or just the lentils alone?
Yummy are those red or brown lentils

most grocery stores will have it.. if not use 1-2 tablespoon brown sugar
Callaloo on the side stew chicken rice fresh salad
Really want to make this but don’t have pimento peppers or molasses. Any substitutes or can they be left out?

ayyy you did good
Thanks again ...
my pleasure
What's the brand of slow cooker you have?
There is definitely some fish business in that worcestershire sauce😂😅.
that was tasty man
Love that beard Chef!!!
Great post! I want to use my slow cooker more often. This looks wonderful 👌 Are those green or brown lentils?
funny.. it looks like they could be green, but supposed to be brown
Niceness!
it is.. do give it a try
@@caribbeanpot I will
how many cups of lentils
What you eat this with?
Try rice. I also sop it up with a nice nann or dumpling.
on it's own or as a side to anything really
Rice. Dumplings. Veggies. Pie. Anything
rock it you way yea - use what you got
What is brownin?
Liquid gravy browning. Adds colour and a little flavour. If you're in Canada, Grace brand is a good one that's widely available. Mr. Gouda's is another one I find available in Canada. Crosse & Blackwell from the UK is good too and available in North America.
❤️💛💚
Chris covid come and you get gray? Eh eh ... still looking good at though . Thanks for delicious recipe.
smile oui
Should of put some dumplings in there damn near perfect
Just watching this for reassurance as I just pretty much out the same stuff if my slow cooker. I forgot my thyme tho! Criminal
I also added vodka tho.😂nearly added worcestershire and carrots but I didn't now I'm regretting it
Do a slow cooker series for working people like me.
Six hours😲😲 all the veggies are dead. Why not soak the lentils to reduce cook time? Add veggies last so you're not eating chaff.
Waaay to complicated of a recipe. What was that 100 ingredients? Lol
I like my crockpot recipes simple… this is far from simple in terms of the prep. Pass!
What's up with the beard? You look older with that man. Nice food doh.
