Hey Erin, don't feel too bad about your accident, and don't loose your self confidence. There's a reason farming is one of the most dangerous jobs in the country. Lots of good people doing really difficult tasks everyday.....including you! Hang in there you!.
We all make mistakes. A year ago I did something I have told all our helpers to never do. I went in the pen by myself with a 1500 pound bull to open the gate to let him outside and he rubbed me against the concrete wall for 2 or 3 seconds. Somehow I miraculously escaped with only bruises and a trip to the hospital for a ct scan
Hi Erin, Im not sure is you know me or my son Cole here at Sonne Farms but we have had some of that same kind of bad luck. Cole tore his acl during calving this spring and had surgery in late May. Time goes by fairly quickly and we get back to normal. Find time to have a personal relationship with the lord and all the blessings you have been given. You will meet alot of wonderful people in this journey and it will change your life. Use it as a way to better yourself and reconnect with your loved ones. Youve totally got this. Brian Sonne
As a father, I am a bit teary-eyed. I know just how your Dad felt. I grew up on farms and dairies and know the work ethos. You thought you could do it. You are not the first farmer to attempt a repair move that didn't work out. I'm glad it was just your foot and not your head. Don't let it freak you out. Get the operation, do what the docs say, learn the lesson and move forward. Everyone here is very proud of you. :-) John in California
Ditto what John R said. Main thing now is to get it healed properly so it doesn't haunt you 25 yrs from now! Don't let it shake your confidence. We all learn the hard way!!
You are a great and supportive man:). Proud to be in the same state with you and your family. Thank you and all in the farming industry for your love and dedication in providing for us. Much love and respect🙏🏼
Hi there! My boyfriend came across your videos and we watched them together. We realized you don’t live that far from us. I can see what a sweetheart you are. You are a driven, caring, smart, talented and beautiful young lady. Just keep your head up. I’m praying for comfort and healing. ❤️

The physical pain is a lesson teacher. The emotional pain of hurting someone you care about because of your actions will keep you from doing something similar again. Glad you are ok and hope you recover fully. You have my prayers.
Erin, I've logged Many, Many Hours on crutches throughout my life, (Usually due to my own stupidity!) if your armpits are hurting from your crutches, they're probably too long. Try shortening them so you can use them with a stiff arm. You may have to raise the handles up also. I did this and noticed a darmatic difference. Best wishes for a smooth, fast healing process!
Many of us are more than just subscribers and viewers. We appreciate what you do and care about you. We pray that God gives you comfort and a quick healing.
Erin, you're such a sweetheart. I hate when something unfortunate happens to a good person. Prayers for you and your family. God, please bless Erin and her subsequent road to recovery!!
Dad has no right to be pissed at her at all over this. He ought to be pissed at himself more than anything else for letting such a dangerous condition to exist in the first place.

So with the benefit of distance from your pain, what I see was a moment with a multitude of graces. The grace of the tire missing truly crippling parts of your legs and spine, the grace of the tidal wave of love from your father and friend as they gave all they had to save you, the grace of seeing the unadulterated love of a father for his daughter, and the grace to you of feeling the deep disappointment that only comes when you love him back, the grace in the skilled hands and hearts of your doctors and nurses, and the outpouring of care and friendship from your neighbors. I know your foot is throbbing, but that will fade and be forgotten, the love that surrounds you will abide. Prayers on the way.
Wow, what an amazing meaningful post. Further Erin, all of us make mistakes indeed far worse mistakes than this one, the important thing is to learn from those mistakes.
I Love how amazing your community is with helping out during bad times like this! Don't be too hard on yourself, accidents happen, just be happy it wasn't worse. i'll pray for ur recovery.

Erin the fact that feel the way you do shows the incredible strength of your character. Feeling incredibly sorry and perhaps a lil mad at yourself is normal accidents are here to teach us. So like anything you learn you get the lesson learn from it and move past it. Speaking as a dad yes your dad may have been scared for you in that moment but the relief that you are going to be ok outweighs that previous feeling. Sending healing thoughts your way from CT.
Oh Sweetie, I’m so sorry you got injured. Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all do not so smart things. You will be in my prayers. I love your channel and your beautiful personality.
My uncle always said “anyone that doesn’t make a mistake isn’t doing anything” lol. If farming was easy everyone would do it. Lol. Everyone makes mistakes and the fear everyone felt just shows how much y’all care about each other. I’m glad it wasn’t worse. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal.
Our hearts break as we hear this news. You make us proud, showing your daily life & work. It’s great to see you sharing the world, there is nothing you can’t do. Driving grain cart may be less than ideal, having to clutch with the left foot.
Glad to hear you're ok. My first year back full time on the farm I fell off a disc I was greasing and cracked/broke my ribs on my left side. Definitely felt smart and hated telling my dad what I'd done. You're not the first to have this happen and I love that all the other farmers are loaning you their old medical devices because they've done it too lol. Chin up!
What a blessing that it was only a foot! Thank you for sharing this story, particularly the admission that "I did it wrong." I think that's a good message for us all - slow down, get help, rig it right, etc.
Oh Erin, I hate to hear that this happened to you. So glad you were able to get back far enough to prevent an even worse outcome. Praying for your physical and mental healing as you recover. I know there is an army praying for you and I hope you feel that love and support surrounding you.
Finally getting to see this video... about to watch the update. Wow! As if we couldn't respect the farmers anymore.... my admiration grew even bigger! Blessed you are still here with us. As a father my heart goes out to your dad as well. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Sorry to hear that this happened especially during harvest…I just read the story on Instagram, could’ve happened to anyone, just glad it wasn’t a lot worse than what it already is. Hopefully you’ll be back out carting soon! Prayers for a fast recovery
Give yourself a break Erin ... You're human. Hopefully, you can let others help you during your recovery. You're a good soul with a kind heart, but your independent spirit can get 'ya in trouble sometimes. I'm sure you'll be showered with prayers and good karama. Crying is a great way to let it out. I'm sure the lot of you were scared and shocked. I'm real sorry this happened to you, Erin. God Bless!
Love your videos, and I love what you and your family do everyday and that young people have an interest in farming. But it can be dangerous, thankful it wasn't worse and lots of prayers for quick healing! When I was about 19/ 20 I was stationed in north Dakota and had the pleasure of working part time for a farmer running equipment that was much older and smaller than the rigs you guys have and it was a great experience. Prayers that the doctors have healing hands and you recover quickly.
Accidents can happen so quickly. Don’t beat yourself up. Thank heavens it wasn’t worse and the doctors can fix you back up with surgery and rehab. Thank you for sharing your story. I have moved those big tires on the farm by myself and have gotten lucky once by just moving out of the way before one fell on me also. I didn’t want to wait for help. I got lucky. Hopefully everyone that sees this will share it and learn from it also. Wishing you a speedy recovery and your family a bountiful harvest this fall. Prayers!
We used to run the huge super singles and full of methanol/water they weighed close to 1500 lbs each. I had one fall off the hub while trying to rotate it into place. Thankfully I got out of the way but the wall beside me wasn't so lucky and that tire fell straight thru the wall. Needless to say ill get someone to help instead of trying to be a hero and do it alone just in case something happens ill have someone to call 911 etc.
Wishing you a very speedy recovery and praying a safe harvest for the rest of your family. Tough way to learn a lesson but it happens. Love your TH-cam channel. Cheer up girl. Thank God it wasn't any worse and most important is you are here to tell about it.
Praying for you Erin. For sure. Lord i ask you to stand next to Erin and wrap your arms around her. Give her peace Father and help the surgeons do an absolutely fantastic job in repairing the bones in her foot. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
Erin, back in the day when I was 12’ish, my G’Pa let me drive his tractor to another farm. Being that I could barely reach the pedals I misjudged a turn. Me and the tractor almost did a rollover. Farming is inherently dangerous. I learned to ask for help if I wasn’t sure of my capacity. I’m sure there will be lots of office work while you are recovering. Prayers…
wow Erin, I'm so sorry this has happened. It's like it's happened to a member of the big, extended family. I'm glad that you have good insurance and don't have to worry about that part. Prayers for a speedy recovery
Hello Erin, I love your farming video's and watching how talented you and your family are... so very sorry to learn of your accident. All my prayer's are with you for a quick and painless surgery, and a speedy recovery. Try not to beat yourself up cause, as you said, we've all done some pretty foolish things in life... but please just remember for the future that we all need help and if you have to question the safety of an action... then you already no the answer... moving forward please stay safe and take all the help you can find! GOD Bless...
Oh no, Erin! I feel for you. I've injured myself badly in the past and beat the crap outta myself for it. It sucks to say the least. Also, I just want to say that I really love the sense of community and its kindness and generosity where you are. Makes me think even more seriously about leaving this city life behind me.
I’m thankful you are alive! Thank you for sharing your story to help others. Thanks for mentioning your Indiana Farm Bureau Health plan. This was a huge lift for our member volunteers last year but together we did it!
Erin...I probably make 100 mistakes daily on my farm. haha It's rough work but we try to limit the big ones....A couple years ago I was trying to pull off a leaky cylindar from one of my tractor's loaders so I could repack it. This is actually a 2 person job. I could have just waited one day to have help but no, I come up with this slick idea to use my shop hoist to play as the second person. Well I didn't think to wipe off the cylindar so it was very slippery from hydraulic fluid and when it hit part of the tractor trying get it out it slid down onto my right food and broke 3 of my toes. Well I got a good lecture from my wife and farm partners and was on crutches for 6 weeks. haha Don't be too hard on yourself though, you're trying to be helpful and we all make mistakes. I'm so glad you're okay my thoughts and prayers are with you to have a full and speedy recovery! God bless!
Prayers for you. First time I’ve seen your videos. Brian Brown was talking about your accident and I wanted to hear you talk about it. God will take care of you and get you back working on the farm soon.
Working in construction for almost 20 years, I have witnessed and experienced some pretty bad accidents. By you making this video, you put a reminder out there to all, that no matter how many times that you may have done it before, you must still be careful. With harvest coming quickly, is a good reminder to all to be safe. Hope you heal quickly, God Bless.
Erin, things do happen and lessons are learned. I doubt you ever forget this incident and hopefully you will always use it as a reminder to think about what can happen when you are working on the farm and how to do things safer. I am thankful you are ok other than the broken foot and sore knees, as you noted, it could have been much worse. Prayers for a speedy recovery and successful surgery. Don't be so hard on yourself emotionally.
Lessons of life on the farm... Trust me, I've had a few accidents when I was young (ie. large loose bench vice feel on my foot). Anyways, Don't feel bad, stuff happens! Look at it this way. The angels keep the whole tire from squishing you! It could've been way worst! Blessings too you little sister and a prayer for your future operation and recovery.
Your videos are far from boring. They are educational and real. God bless you and heal well. Chores will get done. I was crushed by the skid loader and learned a valuable lesson too. Ask for help.
You're a strong woman, Erin. Remember this quote by John Lennon: "Life if what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". Keep that motto in mind for the rest of your life and you'll not feel so much like a victim when the other accidents of life happen to you. Stay "farm tough".
Being a father, I am absolutely sure that your dad would walk through fire to help you. I am sure that he is just happy that you are breathing . I send my blessings to you and your family. God bless you and your family.
Oh my, you have to be careful, young lady. Glad it wasn't worse. Hope the surgery goes well and you have a nice recovery. Cool to hear about all your farmer neighbors checking in and helping out with scooter and stuff. :)
Wow. Praying for a complete recovery. So sad for you to have to go through this. I can tell from your video that your family and community love and support you. So glad it wasn’t worse. God is good.
So grateful that you weren't far more seriously injured. There are precious few of us who haven't done something that in retrospect we don't say wow wasn't that stupid, and/or wow wasn't I lucky. Indeed I will add you to my congregations prayer list for the next few weeks.
Things happen, don't beat yourself up over it. I've been there even when trying to be extra safe. The best thing is to keep mobile, mornings will be tough due to the stiffness. On a negative note, winter will let you know you what you broke. Hope you heal fast and can't wait to see more of your videos!
Erin wow! I'm extremely grateful that you're, for the most part, ok! I'll definitely be praying for a good prognosis and for a great recovery! We've all been stubborn at times and ended up regretting it. I'm just glad you get to walk away from it. Keep us updated please! And thanks for bringing us along.
As good advice always use safety shoes with the steel front , it’s designed to save your fingers when shit like this happen, best wishes for your recovery, you are a tough girl 💪💪stay safe Erin and always remember farming heavy equipment are very dangerous, rotating machinery are even more dangerous, never use large shirts with long sleeves, long hairs ponytail are dangerous too… always ask you where is the danger here?👍👍
Yes, I have been there too. My break looked so much the same. The experience at and with the doctors was very similar. They reacted pretty strongly to my x-ray as well but thought it was nothing at first. My surgery went fine and I was very happy to have the scooter instead of the crutches. But you will be so thankful when it's all done. We will be praying for you.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. We are all doing 2 person jobs by ourselves because it just needs to get done. We have all had injuries on our farm especially dealing with animals. This will make for a good contact seeing how the surgery goes at least! Wishing you all the best.
I came over from Brian’s farming videos as he put a link in his latest video for us to come over An wish u a good luck with surgery an a speedy healthy recovery !! 👍
“My scars tell a story. They are a reminder of times when life tried to break me, but failed. They are markings of where the structure of my character was welded.” ― Steve Maraboli
Any man with daughters will know EXACTLY what your dad's feeling! Get well young lady. And don't be afraid to just talk to us about your recovery. We'll listen...
I will be praying for you Erin, I hope that everything goes right with your surgery and for a speedy recovery and don’t beat yourself up too bad because everybody’s made stupid mistakes like that but we will all be praying for you
I hope you have a great and speedy recovery! I think its great that you try and do stuff that you do. Remember to learn from your mistakes- its a part of growing up and being smarter!
You're the one who's hurt and you have such empathy and compassion for others. You have such a kind soul. Thankfully the others were right there. Being pinned, alone and in pain would have been a nightmare. Take care of yourself.
Hi Ms. Erin, Don't beat yourself up--you learned from the mistake and you wont do that again. I did something when I was in the military that cost me my spleen, collapsed lung and fractured ankle lowering a stuck platform arway from an aircraft--I fell 17 ft. to the concrete. Good thing there were a lot of co-workers there. I won't take a risk like that again!I Very happy you weren't squashed by that tire! Get better soon and get back to your routine ! Praying for you and the family farm. I live in southeast NC and there are a ton of family farms out here. Thank you for being a farmer!!
Erin!! Keep your head up (I can see this is bothering you) Accidents happen to the best of people. Don't tear yourself down, you are an amazing person!!
I realize I am late watch your video, but still praying for a rapid recovery both physically and emotionally. I enjoy your videos, especially the weekly summaries. Thank you for sharing.
Farming is a tough gig. I remember my boss and I lifting a dual off of his brother when it fell on him. Luckily he wasn't pinned as bad. Although his brother chewed his butt out for doing what he did. The thing now is to follow ALL of the doctors orders and rehab to the letter. That way you'll be back at it in no time at all. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I am so thankful that your injuries were not worse. Keep your spirits up and know that this could have happened to anyone dealing with large equipment. There is a very popular shirt that sums it up "Well that didn't work out the way I planned" I will pray for a speedy recovery and hope to watch you in the cab during harvest.
Of course I will pray for you Erin, never hesitate to ask! For your complete healing, for wisdom for the doctors that will be doing the surgery and for the nurses attending you, for your family and a harvest that falls into place while you are recovering. I know how your dad feels, my son (33 at the time) was hit by a car while on his bicycle riding to work in Minneapolis. He completely recovered from his concussion and deep facial cuts. As parents our hearts sank when his wife called from the hospital and told us what had happened. We would have done anything to help them through this time! You have a very kind and big heart. I suspect you are constantly going out of your way to help others. Let others help you for a change and give thanks for their love and friendship which you cultivated! Bill Roy
Thankful it wasn't worse! But it's never fun getting hurt. We've all been there and done thing we regret. Thankful your dad was there to help and Jeff as well. May the Lord give you peace and the surgeons gifted hands to put it back together!
It's NEVER boring watching you talk! I'm SO sorry this happened! I know how hard it is to not beat yourself up! Time will heal these wounds. Thank you for all you do! I pray that you get well soon!
Erin, I am a healer i am sending you some healing Energy to help you heal. you take care now and stay safe and before you know it you'll be back up on your feet. Peace,

Amen.
You're in my prayers for rapid healing, God Bless you, I pray you have minimal pain!
Praying you have a quick recovery. Everyone who has been on a farm has one or more "wish I wouldn't have done that" stories!
God bless!
Praying for a quick recovery Erin! Keep pushing, you're young and will get through.
Oh my, thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. You’re awesome!!
Prayers for you. First time I’ve seen your videos. Brian Brown was talking about your accident and I wanted to hear you talk about it. God will take care of you and get you back working on the farm soon.
Glad to hear it wasn't worse, keep your head up you'll be back at it soon.we all do stuff we shouldn't. Hope the best for you. Keep smiling
You are such a sweetheart! Knowing how heavy those tires are! You are one tough girl! I hope you fell better soon!
Blessings young lady and glad you survived I will pray for heals for you
Erin we are all praying for you and your fast recovery. Keep your chin up and a smile on your face.
The only thing that matters that you are still here, sending prayers for you take care stay safe and god bless
You poor baby! ❤️🩹 Feel better sooner! We’ll pray that your surgery goes well and you are back on the tractors soon! 💚
Sorry about your accident pretty lady! Here’s to quick healing!!!! Praying for you!!!
Praying for a quick recovery, wisdom for your surgeon, and peace while you navigate this new chapter.
Praying for complete healing, thankful you were not more seriously hurt.
They are markings of where the structure of my character was welded.”
― Steve Maraboli
Always, always, always ask for prayer ------------- you are precious!
Any man with daughters will know EXACTLY what your dad's feeling! Get well young lady.
And don't be afraid to just talk to us about your recovery. We'll listen...
Amen! We support you Erin😃💖
Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery and for a prosperous harvest
I won't take a risk like that again!I
Very happy you weren't squashed by that tire!
There is a very popular shirt that sums it up "Well that didn't work out the way I planned"
I will pray for a speedy recovery and hope to watch you in the cab during harvest.
Forgive yourself. No one is perfect. Even special young ladies like you. Take care. Hug your Dad. He needs it. 😄
Yes, Papa too...
Bill Roy
Bless your heart! Praying for a quick recovery.
Thankful it wasn't worse! But it's never fun getting hurt. We've all been there and done thing we regret. Thankful your dad was there to help and Jeff as well. May the Lord give you peace and the surgeons gifted hands to put it back together!
Thought’s and Prayers!!! Everyone pulls a bummer move. Don’t beat yourself up!
It's NEVER boring watching you talk! I'm SO sorry this happened! I know how hard it is to not beat yourself up! Time will heal these wounds. Thank you for all you do! I pray that you get well soon!
