I would have thought a lot of the extra backspin you're getting now could be due to having a newer cloth? How long did you have it replaced and have you always used the same grade of cloth?

I think ones like the Williams blue with left, could do with imparting a bit of top as well.
Possibly I was struggling to get that right for some time

It is much heavier than the rest of the balls. So he gets a lot of action on the cue ball for the same effort
