Outstanding. Glad you got out. I have 2 torn rotator cuffs. Don't know if I'll be able to get them fixed. You got a good moved bad

Thanks Ron, first time I have been able to fish for more than an hour in a while, bulging disc and neuropathy. I’m falling apart pretty quickly.

My right shoulder was in pain in the first segment.....LOL!! I thought that 23"+ Speck with the double fangers might have been Trout Dracula.....That was a biggin'!! Nice variety in the skinny water and with the slam!!😎👀

That you are sir, a fishing machine. Plus I keep learning, did not know all trout that size are females. DANG that was a nice one! Those clouds sure looked like they were ready to dump on you. So you keep up with how many 'slam' days you've had? I would call this day a successful one for sure, THANKS for sharing and making me jealous.

My kayak is the fishing machine, I just fish where it takes me. It rained pretty heavy after I got home, and again today. No, I have no idea about my number of slams, they are pretty rare. I don’t really fish for flounder. Thanks for the comment.

I've noticed this spring has been a little different since the last few years. I love to see the insane amount of small redfish out there. I have been getting some of my biggest trout too. I might have also caught your big trout from a few weeks ago. He, probably SHE, was a hair over 28". Nice job!!

Last year we had an abundance of large redfish, these rats are probably their offspring. I have seen this cycle many times over the years. This fall should be really good. Thanks Fletcher.

Thanks for watching. There are a couple of places to wade fish Big Lagoon. The first is in Big Lagoon State Park on the north side. At the amphitheater, there is a trail to the water and can be a good place to catch redfish. From the amphitheater, you can walk the shoreline toward the tower to a beachy area, or you can drive to the first parking lot near the tower and there is a trail leading to that beach. It drops off quickly to five feet there so be careful. I catch most of my reds in one to three feet of water, so I usually tell people not to wade out, but fan cast from the beach from one side to the other. In that area, the trout are usually in 3-5 feet of water. The next acess will be the National Seashore at Johnson Beach. If you don't have a national park pass, it might be best to invest in one. You can go in before the gate opens at 0700, but I understand they sometimes leave notes on autos to pay on your way out. Down the first road to the left is a kayak/canoe launch you can wade across a small channel to access a beach. Again, fish the shallow water first. There are also parking areas further down the park road to access both the lagoon and the gulf. Beware of riptides in the gulf. I normally use a 1/8 oz jig on the grass beds and my absolute favorite plastic is a MirrOlure Marsh Minnow Paddle Tail, Salt/Pepper/Chartreuse, but if the fish are hungry, it doesn't matter. I have not been able to fish much lately due to a bad back, so I don't really know how the fishing is right now. Good luck to you guys!

Where do you launch from to get to Big Lagoon? I’ve always put in over on the Johnson’s Beach side and scurried over. Is there a better option on that side?

I launch at Big Lagoon State Park. I buy an annual pass to get in early. I use the boat ramp, but they have two kayak launch areas, next to the boat ramp and near the tower. The tower launch is really nice, they have a mat over the sand to make it easy, and you can access the large bayou to the left or go right into the lagoon. A low tide makes it difficult there however. Johnson Beach no longer allows trailers, but I launch my 10 footer there sometimes and fish that side.

@@JAllredFishing thanks! I’ll definitely look into the year pass. Last time I was at Big Lagoon State Park only the main boat ramp was open. Thanks for the info.
