- The MG ZS has undergone many changes since it was first introduced in the Philippines. It has gone through two engine changes, and now for 2024, it finds itself with a familiar mill, however, new for this model year is a CVT which should extend its legs when it comes to fuel economy. MG5 owner here its been morethan 4 uears haven't had any major problems yet.
What "minor" problems did you have then?
Same 2020 model. Battery spark plugs and brake pad lang napalitan plus regular change oil at mga fluids, after a year will get the ZS naman💞

3 years MG5 user here. Same thing: battery, sparkplug, front tires, AC refrigerant and filters palang napalitan. Yung engine performance solid with pairs sa seaoil 97ron fuel at double iridium sparkplugs. Ang hndi ko lang gusto ay yung throttle response, minsan kakagat agad minsan may 1-2 seconds delay lalo na pag malakas ang AC
I think most of the cars naman talaga na nilalabas na market is ok, mapa china or japan pa yan. Nagkakatalo lang talaga pag nachambahan ka ng sira kahit anong brand pa yan. For me after sales lang talaga pinaglalabanan.
We bought two MG vehicles recently. An MG ZS style MT and a MG 5 core AT. We have a Toyota, these MG's did not disappoint and are actually exceeding expectations in terms of performance, comfort, reliability and overall aesthetically very pleasing.

@@josephasong2096 yeah, did a lot of long distance trips from negros cebu and panay. Had my zs since March 1st, 8,800km odo already. Lots of long trips.never broke down, no issues. Unlike when we took our old eon, tranny was messed up after the trip. Mg zs for me in my experience is reliable. Maybe share yours if you have any experience with your zs
I have it for almost 3 years 😊 all stock and yes I love it very much. ❤
@@josephasong2096 8000 Km since we got it last march 2024. We did lots of long trips with our MG ZS. I'm not a new car owner btw, I've driven many other brands. We still have our 2009 avanza and it's still doing bacolod to dumaguete no issues. The MG ZS on the other hand, handles itself very well. I got a MT so no issues, no delays as they say they have on the AT models. Reliable because it never broke down, performance is great!

MG is roaming around in the country for over 5 years already. Especially this model ZS. I can definitely say that it is a bang for a buck among its competitor. This facelift is a must need to make the car modern. Looking forward sa reviiew ng MG 3. Great review as always Autodeal🎉
WDYM 5 years? MG PH has been around for at least a decade already. Their first model was a hatchback.

The MG Gallery on Quezon Ave. was formerly Volkswagen Quezon Avenue until around 2022. In 2023, GAC was preparing to move there when the building was suddenly abandoned again. And now you have MG occupying the dealership.

This or the Sonet? Interesting battle between the smaller subcompact crossover segment.
Can't wait to also see a subcompact crossover comparo between the MG One, Yaris Cross and Xforce.
I'd go for the mg zs over the sonet. I test drived both and the ZS got me honestly. The sonet is a bit smaller and underpowered compared to any mg zs variant.
Sonet is smaller and the higher trim is more expensive.
But they're both made in China.

@@rinnegan04 no delay sa akin MT mg zs ko. Our mg5 core is AT and there is a slight delay. Best way to counter it is step on the gas,let go and step again. It goes away.power in my mg zs is ample, no issues from low to high speeds, excellent acceleration since it's manual.i get the same feeling in terms of top end and acceleration when I drive a Strada.

Got my ZST in Nov 2021 and I'm loving it. No issues at all! However, MG should've integrated the MG Pilot on this new version of the ZS. It is really unfortunate that they didn't.

@@rinnegan04 I think this isn't exactly new. I've seen this model in the UK, they call it MG ZS Excite / Exclusive there. But the new MG3 (the hybrid version) is in fact new.
@@sibutotheworld yeah, however as you said they should have included it already here in ph as a refreshed mg zs, Like for example the sonet, kia brought the new kia sonet instead of releasing an old model

High hopes for MG under SAIC management.
It looks like the ZST, kinda hard to spot any differences
Compare it to European version i can notice only few differences.
We don't have options for red leather inserts and CVT option with that 1.5 engine that makes only 106HP overhere. And all EU spec cars have silver trim in bottom of the front bumper between fog lights. In general nothing new for 2024 model.
Only thing that engine needs is factory or dealer installed LPG since it's 100% cheaper than petrol across EU.
I'm still waiting to hear what the non-Minor change is 😅
Honestly could've been better if they had the Turbo on this car. But, we'll wait for the MG ZS vs Toyata Yaris Cross vs Kia Sonet Comparo.
The ZST model is the turbo engine. Almost the same with this but diff engine.
MG ZS is way more expensive now
At least they've finally released the updated version of the MG ZS 1.5 liter non turbo version which they should've done 2 years earlier
The arrival of the Kia Sonet is gonna make MG reduce it's price again

Is MG a trusted brand? my dad is having his first car with a budget of 1.1 million and struggling to choose between Toyota Raize, Kia Seltos and MG ZS, he likes the MG so much but he's skeptical if it's unreliable in the long run especially in it's maintenance.
MG vehicles are reliable and sturdy

Mg5 user here. For me it is reliable. Travelled halsema hway to infanta quezon to pangasinan loop with 5 passengers and baggage. No problems at all

Price is very reasonable as always. Maintenance is not as high compared to others in the segment. Lalo na dati noong free pa ang first 2 PMS (1st year). Dumarami narin ang shops na nagbebenta ng MG parts except from CASA (Karday, MJS, RC Auto, Mods or Nothing, etc.). Reliability? -> time will tell ofc. Pero marami nang ZS users sa group page/chats na nakkita kong naka 5yrs na ang unit without any issues.

Lmao true. Been enjoying our 5 yr old ZS, No major problems with proper maintenance.
It’s funny how old school Tito’s and tita’s always compare their feature less Toyota’s to these cars and simply say; “ mas matibay padin Toyota” Japanese brands have been fooling you for decades with minor lifts here and there and you constantly pay premium price for a face lifted car which is technically 20 years old under the hood.
Subukan niyo bumili ng euro luxury cars na feature packed and own it for 3-5 years. Then comeback to me and tell me ilang beses kang lumabas pasok sa casa para magpamaintenance ng tsikot mo. It’s very simple; low tech sasakyan mo, less things to maintain. High tech sasakyan mo, more things to maintain.
But if a car is 1.5 million and above, it better have more than an a/c and plastic dash. I remember checking out a few pick-up trucks a few years back. Pati bed liner binebenta pa. Paano magiging pick-up truck kung di magagamit yung likod Kasi walang bedliner, shunga diba?
sir caco is it true that chinese brand vehicles are unreliable and dangerous??? i have viewed many videos on yt showing chinese vehicles ( specially ev's ) suddenly exploding with no apparent reason and also non deployment of airbags during accidents.. what will be our guarantee as buyers against this video proof that these chinese vehicles will not bring harm to me and my family??? just asking sir caco since you are a very respectable reviewer of different brands of vehicles, salamat po
Chinese vehicles are very reliable especially the ones made by MG
Don't watch those anti-China videos on TH-cam funded by the CIA and American government as America won't accept the fact that China is producing more reliable vehicles while American car brands like Ford,General Motors and Jeep/Dodge/RAM are still producing unreliable vehicles with very poor quality

I saw an mg kanina on the side of the road. Nka bukas hood. Orange dn kulay. Sira ata. So far, 3 mg na nakita kong ganun this year. Na nasa gilid, naghihintay ng rescue.
Talaga lang ha. Nakita ko na yang ganyang comment hahaha mema.
mg have a roadside assistance service some casa tell customers to use this server kai naa ka one free pick up every year and before they rescue you they will do a check list over the phone and that's why its common to see mg in the side of the road with the hood up cause saic does this in the UK/AU since its by law the car company must help a car under warranty.
