Helloween is the greatest European Power Metal band ever in my opinion. Helloween has many great songs and albums, but Walls Of Jericho and especially The Keeper Of The Seven Keys and Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 2 are their MASTERPIECES. I remember buying the cassette tapes of these albums back in the late 80's as a little kid and listened to them many times. Over thirty years later I still think they are some of the greatest music I have ever listened to. The lead singer of this song recently got back in Helloween for a Pumpkings United tour after being gone from the band since 1994. One of the guitar players on this song also came back recently for the same tour after being gone from the band since 1989. Both of these members returning to Helloween was a huge dream come true. Most of us never thought that it would happen. It took them almost thirty years to reunite together and I am beyond excited that it finally happened. I would definitely recommend more reactions from Helloween. They are up there with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath to how amazing they are and what they have done for Heavy Metal music. @Röda Pringles Edguy is definitely an amazing band. Tobias Sammet is one of my favorite singers ever. I even love his other band Avantasia big time. I love all the special guest musicians that he has on them. On one video of Avantasia doing Reach Out For The Light Tabias Sammet was doing a duet with Michael Kiske and it was Phenomenal. Tabias even said that everyone wanted to sing in a Power Metal band because of how amazing Michael Kiske is. Tabias Sammet definitely became an amazing singer and songwriter himself.
I have a hard time choosing, helloween, gamma ray, edguy (and avantasia for that matter), stratovarius and so many more, I just decided to love the fact those guys molded power metal and we got all the bands that came from it, also I caught pumpkins united at rockfest in São Paulo, Brazil, it was such a blast
@Röda Pringles not original power metal for sure, but they did influence newer bands, I added em there mainly cuz they were already mentioned and I love Tobias, but eh, imo all bands that exist have influenced others, even older ones, to some extent, once you hear a song as a musician and you like it its hard not to be just the tiniest bit biased and throw in a little flavour of theirs on a song sooner or later, just my opinion tho

I can not wait for Helloween to release a DVD, Blue Ray, and a double CD edition of one of their shows from the Pumpkins United tour. I still can't believe both Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen are back in the band. It took almost thirty years for them to come back, especially Kai Hansen.

Congratulations. Finally. You just stumbled upon an immortality. Please explore the other songs. This perfect double album will forever remain part of metal history.
Helloween's music, especially in 80s, was always filled with messages of light and hope (after facing darkness). Without these two superb albums of Helloween, Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 &2, I might not be alive now.

Michael Kiske is definitely the Godfather of singing when it comes to Power Metal. Tobias Sammet from the band Edguy and Avantasia said that Michael Kiske's singing inspired every Power Metal band singer that came out after Helloween. It is amazing how young Michael Kiske was when he first joined Helloween. He was at least 18 years old and everyone was amazed with his singing when they first heard him. He is still amazing

Gamma Ray is amazing!! I love all their albums, but Land Of The Free is my favorite and Rebellion In Dreamland is my favorite song from it. They should definitely react to some Gamma Ray.

There has been such a sound evolution of Helloween both musically, and stylistically over the years. I'm very attracted to your 'Keys' concept. What is the mystique behind the Key & Ring releases?
Michael: The mystique concerns the Seven Deadly Sins, and Jesus Christ. When we became better known, there was a band called Stryper throwing Bibles. We embraced the basis of their beliefs, but did not want to be as obvious. Many 'White Metal' bands were becoming popular...
MettleAngel: Namely, Barren Cross, Bloodgood, Saint, Whitecross, yes I remember the movement...
Michael: Well, we are white, and we play metal, but we are not activists, so we thought we could bring the message across in a more subtle fashion. This is where the Keys concept originated. The mystique is still the message of Christ.

Picka Materina I dont think they ever were a ”christian band” but a band that had some of the members that were christians. This interview is done in 99 I think. Uli and Roland have left the band. Kiske is now back and he have never been silent about his faith in Jesus. Like I said. Some members are and some maybe dont.

I've always believed this song to be a metaphor for the internal struggle of every person against the temptation of sin. In that sense, each and everyone of us are keepers of the seven keys [the seven deadly sins]. Each and everyone of us have the ability to commit sin [the keys to evil], therefore we must throw that temptation away [throw the key away into the sea] and thus destroy Satan by cutting off his source of power, our evil. That is why when you throw away the keys, you remove the power the sin has over you and thereby kill Satan. Satan tries to tempt you into evil [not throwing the last key] because he knows he will lose his power over you if you do. The reason the song is often using "You" instead of Jesus or certain other figures is because the song is clearly referring to the the listener. You are the only hope of your own victory against Satan.

Kiske, the vocal in this album/song was only 19 years old when he recorded they recorded this.
He is truly amazing and gifted.

Rebellion In Dreamland is the perfect song for their first reaction to Gamma Ray. I love every Gamma Ray album, but Land Of The Free is my favorite. It is a MASTERPIECE in my opinion.

This song and Halloween are some of the most amazing epic Heavy Metal songs ever done. They are Helloween's best work in my opinion, but I do love the work they have done with Andi Deris also. I am beyond excited that both Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen are back in the band. I am really looking forward to a new album. In my opinion Helloween was still good after Kai Hansen left the band, but not phenomenal like when he was in the band.

The Dark Ride is probably my favorite song that Roland Grapow wrote while he was in Helloween. The Time Of The Oath is another amazing song he wrote when he was still with them. I hate that Helloween stopped playing songs that he wrote after he wasn't in the band when they play live. He written some great songs while he was a member in the band. Roland Grapow has been recently playing those songs with his band Masterplan since he made an album called Pumpkings of all Helloween songs that he wrote. Two other great songs are Mankind and Someone's Crying that Roland wrote.

Now that you guys have reacted to a few Helloween songs it is time to check out the band Gamma Ray. One of the lead guitar players and songwriters from Helloween's first three albums Kai Hansen formed Gamma Ray after he left Helloween. In my opinion he was the most important member ever in Helloween. Even though Helloween still have some great songs and albums after he left the band, in my opinion they have never been as amazing as they were when he was in the band. I would recommend Rebellion In Dreamland for your first Gamma Ray reaction.

Helloween are the godfathers of power metal. Michael Kiske (the singer) is also a professed Christian and this song was meant to be a Biblical allegory.

Helloween is not a christian metal band, that's true. But they are catholic and that is shown on their lyrics.
Time, a song from them that is explicitly christian. And of course Laudate dominum is really christian too. It is in Latin, but it can be easily translated with google, for example.

In fact, religion now a day, in most of the countries can't forbid anything, that's a state capability. Religion defines good and evil deeds, actions, and we decide to follow that or not. I'm speaking about the legal situations. If a religion forbids something, in the law definition of forbid, is an illegal action.
