The singer was Michael Kiske. Helloween is from Germany. They're considered power metal. I'm surprised they didn't remind you of Iron Maiden. Power metal often incorporates elements of prog. Love this band. I have all 16 of their studio albums, their covers album, an acoustic/symphonic compilation album performed with a 70 piece Prague Symphony Orchestra, and a 3 cd live album.

Glad you did this dong. The most epic song in metal history!!! Michael Kiske doesn't get the recognition but he is one of the top metal vocalists up there with Rob Halford, Dio, Geoff Tate. Helloween is considered a progressive metal band and they pretty much invented the genre. True icons!!!
They pretty much invented the Power Metal genre. Prog rock was around before with bands like Yes, Rush, and Iron Maiden with longer songs and more complex compositions. One could argue that prog rock has roots in classical music.
They are a german power/speed metal band from the 80's they still make music today. If had to suggest another epic from them although not as long it would be eagle fly free off the same album. You guys rock. Thanks again!

"I Want Out" is very good too, the best three song of the LP, imo.
Dudes you have made me so happy doing this! So much nostalgia for this song. I used to listen to Helloween's "Keeper of the Seven Keys" ,Both Parts One and Two albums on vinyl over and over when I was 15 and 16 back in 1988 and 1989. Still a hugely underrated band when it comes to worldwide metal, though they were pretty big in Europe back in the day. You guys have to do "We Got The Right" next. If that song doesn't make you feel like you want to smile and be ready to take on all the shit that the world throws at you then nothing will! German power metal at it's finest. Bear in mind singer Michael Kiske was only around 19 when they recorded this back in 87/88. He had one hell of a trained powerhouse of a vocal range for someone so young at the time. I still have a soft spot for Helloween after so many years. Thanks for doing this one guys. Peace!
God I love this band and song, I'm so glad you guys did this one. What a freaking classic man, Helloween are considered the fathers of power metal. Other songs you should check out from this band are Future World, March of Time, I'm Alive, Sole Survivor, and Eagle Fly Free.

I'd consider Iron Maiden more the fathers of Power Metal, especially considering that many Power Metal bands sound like or attempt to sound like the more adventurous empowering Iron Maiden songs.

The singer, Michael Kiske was 20 years old when this song was released. This is one of my all time favorite song and I love playing drums to it 🤟😎🤟

Super Underrated Band.
Michael Kiske is the singer and it is a german Band ...I had the chance to listen to them since they launched their first EP in mid 80s. You should check one video live...and Kiske has been singing with many other bands like Avantasia y some of his personal projects. Check out Eagly Fly Free and the song Helloween....they are amazing!!!
This is one of the most underrated metal bands of the 1980's IMO, alongside of another band called Savatage. Speaking of Savatage, check out Hall of the Mountain King. It's a goddamn epic and VERY seldom mentioned as a heavy metal classic. Also, a fun fact! Several members of Savatage went on to from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the group who "metalizes" all of the Christmas music every year.

Check out Savatage's early stuff off of "Sirens" or "The Dungeons Are Calling". You won't regret it. Criss Oliva was one of my favorite guitarists.
Can't believe you reacted to this underrated masterpiece of power metal. Helloween is a hella good band, you should check out more music from them. They are fucking awesome and paved the way for other power metal bands and started in the 80's

This is very classical metal. Michael Kiske on vocals, Kai Hansen & Michael Weikath on guitars, Markus Grosskopf on bass (Grosskopf means Big Head in english) and Ingo Schwichtenberg on drums. Ingo was fired in 1993. He suffered breakdowns and had some illness. Killed himself in 1995 by throwing himself in front of an S-train in Hamburg, Germany RIP. In my opinion a very great drummer with a sad ending. 29 years old

! U should deff check out the whole story , this is the last part . If U dig this , U should also check King Diamond out , The Eye album , all the songs are awesome in my oppinion , and is a story off a witch in the year off 1800 , as far as i can remember !( long time since ive heard it )
Btw the leadsingers name off this band was Kai hansen who also formed the band , later it was Kiske obv my bad lol ( they are a german band ) I always thought the leadsingers voice , where very simular too Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden .

I thought I'd heard Helloween before but this one took me by surprise! I didn't get any Queensryche or Rush but what it felt like was King Diamond wrote a song with Iron Maiden and they somehow got David Gilmour to write a solo. Damn! Good call Joel!

Try how many tears live in 2018 or 2019 they have 2 singers 3 guitar players and 1 of them also sings lead. Awesome drummer and bass player very heavy. Definitely worth watching

Loved Helloween since back in the day! Thrash Metal at its finest, kinda symphonic metal. Definitely Head banger music back in the 80's not respected by a lot of the more "main stream" music back then

Went to see them in 1988 in Edinburgh and some of it ended up on a live album. My first live show and I had just turned 13. I should have started somewhere softer. 🤣 Amazing band!!

I saw Helloween open for Anthrax in 1989. They are still a solid band

Another underrated song from Helloween is "AS LONG AS I FALL" from GAMBLING WITH THE DEVIL (2007)- same band, but different Singer (Andi Deris)

Great reaction! Helloween took their influences from all over the place (bands like Iron Maiden, early Metallica, Pink Floyd, Yes, Merciful Fate etc), but they're widely regarded as one of the pioneers of speed metal.

@@greaper1976 I guess. I'm an old British guy and Helloween were always classed as early speed metal within my circle of friends. I've heard people say Megadeth are speed metal but to me they'll always be thrash, but then again I haven't really listened to either band for 25 years. Tbh I've never really known what power metal is, but if that's what Helloween are I'll take your word for it.

@@greaper1976 Walls Of Jericho is definitely speed metal. I’d say the Power Metal aspect was made more apparent starting with the Keeper albums. Jericho is straight up thrash and speed with a little bit of early Power Metal in there too. I hear the Power Metal aspect most on that album in the song “Guardians.” Probably because of the major key and uplifting sound of the chorus. Which later became a staple in the genre. Another band they were heavily influenced by was Accept, particularly “Fast As A Shark” which they later covered with Andi Deris on vocals. You can hear the uplifting sound in the dual guitar solo. I would describe Power Metal as sounding “happy or uplifting” at times, with sporadic usages of the major scale in complex and prog compositions. Also a lot of the themes are medieval and fantasy, dragons, castles, Rainbow and Dio stuff.
Once again Behringer and Smokey I've heard of this band to tapping really listen to it then so here we go and put your you know your ears on and your metal face going here we go

There are more than 50 seas on Earth, but the Seven Seas include the Arctic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian, and Southern oceans supposedly, dream therte came out like a year after Halloween started, I dont remember anyone cmparing them, to dream theatre or rush, but i guess its possible.

They are the masters of Power Metal! Michael Kiske is among the best singers in Metal history. Many hits(and albums) to check from them. In this same album, you must check Eagle Fly Free and I want out. Keepers of the Seven Keys part 1 is an even bigger masterpiece. My suggestions are I'm alive and twilight of the gods, for now...keep it up! 🤘🏽

These dudes were unique, even in the world of metal. They didn't really fit in alongside anyone else -- their first US tour had them sharing the bill with thrash bands, which they were clearly not. Michael's voice was amazing, even among metal singers, and presumably because of their nationality, the guys in the band had a ton of classical influences. They never really made it, but their fans were hardcore. Strongly recommend the official video for "Halloween," whether you can get the 7-minute or the 13-minute version, I have no idea. Either one would be cool. \m/
this is Power metal (some put them in the epic metal genre). If I could fly is my recomendation from this band to see how they evolved.

Legendary band! Seen them 3 times and they always deliver. If you want something heavy by them you should do Kill It with Andi as the singer or Ride the Sky with Kai as the singer 🎃🤘🏻
