- My dining room Christmas tree is one of my favorites! I decorate it with old Kugel ornaments, candles, and a gold leaf garland. It’s very similar to last year’s tree with a few changes. Each year, it gets better and better! I hope it inspires you and puts you in the holiday spirit!

I absolutely love traditions and using things that mean something, I tried one of the new tree ideas from others and ended up giving all the stuff to my niece the next year and going back to using what I've loved for 40 years. I still use my 40, 38 and 29 year old sons ornaments they made in elementary school, some of them have come the the end but there are still ones that are going strong. We always go to a tree farm and cut our own tree down or this year we went to a different farm and walked among the trees picked out one and they came and cut it down for us, it's an experience we've done most of our Childrens lives except a few years we tried the artificial ones which are easier but never mean as much.

Omgosh, I totally agree with everything you say...the not buying new every year, treasuring the old, loving tradition.....how you hang the ornaments, even down to not letting an ornament rest on a branch. They always bugged me too.....anyway, you just have had a wonderful childhood and such loving family.....the memories you have are priceless....

Love your tree and rustic aesthetic. I ran to the nursery for some greens to decorate my bookcase and kitchen; when I got home I invited a neighbor in that I have not seen in a while. Boxes and tubs where everywhere but, that is real life! I loved it! No excuses....just having fun!

As a German it‘s so funny to hear the word kugels. For us, the plural is called Kugeln but normally we say Christbaumkugeln. (Baum = tree)

My son and I just went to the Tree Farm today, and picked up our 2, fresh cut trees...our annual tradition...they are sleeping in water, in the garage overnight to acclimatize...(which means for all the spiders and bugs to flee! before bringing them into the house!)

Hi Kaleb, I watched your video today on decorating your tree! Its beautiful! I saw some "kugel" ornaments in the store! But after turning the pkg over I saw they were not the German ones, but they really looked close to yours! I passed them up knowing they weren't the real thing.
