  • I love to pack the patio behind my house with ferns of all different types. Today, I'm placing them around, we're repotting some plants, and I'm putting together a new succulent planter. I hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to do some gardening today!

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do.

For the last 2 years or so I have been watching, sometimes I go back to your old videos. I have learned so much about gardening from you. A new Ace Hardware opened a few weeks ago in my town. It sells Espoma products and I bought some to try out. You have a good day and keep filming. I also enjoy watching Kip.

    Very nice succulent planter.
I'm doing less and less gardening as I age but my desire for more beautiful gardens grows as I age. What a fickle person I am.
I will keep watching what Kaleb shares so I see beautiful plants.

I love that succulent planter. I live in Massachusetts and I have a hardy, perennial cactus. That I have had for at least 20 years. It is in full bloom right now. Because of you, I had made a succulent garden and it is beautiful this year. They are all perennials.

Really impressive arrangement of succulents in large urn! Your silver elk fern is different and an interesting plant. You're right, gardening takes you into an entirely different world of enjoyment and beauty. Tomorrow I wind up bordering with river stone and happy with the results. Thanks for your video and know you must now be on to vegetable gardening. Enjoy!

Your succulent bowl is fantastic, Kaleb! I love staghorn ferns. Never seen one potted in soil, though- they're epiphytes. We grew ours wired to a piece of cedar board with a bit of sphagnum moss. It hung on the side of a large pine in the shade and the only care it got was an occasional hosedown. It was enormous and when we moved away we re-homed it to a dear friend.

Your gardens are absolutely beautiful! I just found your channel in the fall of 2023 and haven’t missed a video since. I have always covered the drain holes in my pots with a coffee filter because I didn’t want to have the dirt drain through. It seems to keep my plants from drying out as quick.

Kaleb...Debbie here and YES it IS therapy!!! I'm West Coast Florida near Tampa. HOT!!! HUMID!! I spent my whole life gardening in Missouri. What a change...ugh! BUT I am making it work and it's been a challenge but fun to try new things and learn an entirely new zone. After this video I'm trying some succulents. The pot you put together was beautiful. It's not just cactus (Which is what I always think of) but what beautiful shapes and colors. Thank you!

We have also tried to keep Kimberly Queen ferns over winter indoors. Whether we split them or left them whole, they never recovered and we have to replace them next spring. Fortunately full/lush plants are only about $15 here in suburban Chicago. I cannot even touch our Burro's Tail & String of Pearls w/o all of the 'leaves' falling off - can't believe how much you touch yours w/no repercussion... PS - we have THE SAME 'Roseville' green pot w/Acanthus leaves on the sides!! It also has a matching plant saucer.

Love your content, format, and video quality- all fantastic. We are in NW Illinois and any time we have tried to overwinter any plant, including ferns, indoors we later discover insects many days or months later. Everything from an invasion of moths in the spring to centipedes to spiders to beetles. Honestly how do you avoid bringing these unwanted creatures into your beautiful home? The moth invasion we had was the final straw for us and now (sadly) our outdoor potted plants are composted in the fall. Any advice? Our climate is exactly like yours. But I’ve never heard you mention insects. We seem to be blessed with them.

I go to great lengths to use pollinator-loving perennials like catmint, Russian Sage, and tried hyssop this year, which is fabulous! Everything is blooming like crazy, but there are very few bees…and I think the BIRDS are using my perennial gardens as a bee buffet! 😮😩. I had tons of bumblebees and honeybees two weeks ago, but this weekend I could count them on one hand. How depressing! No insecticides…but I see the birds feasting near all my perennials. 😑
