    1. The copper stuff it antisieze, it lubes the threads to get it tighter, and puts copper particles between the two metals to prevent them from “rust-welding” together in the event you have to remove it again.
    2. You gotta have the o2 socket if you can’t get it with an open-end wrench. The new one needs to be snugged down as well, because if it leaks, the upstream sensor will read a lean condition and cause the car to adjust rich. The upstream sensor is the only one that matters in non-emissions controlled states.
    3. The downstream sensor, which will be in, or after the cat, only tells you if the cat is working and does not affect vehicle performance at all.

    Is that bank one, sensor one? Are there 2 upstream and two downstream? Or just one and one?

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      depends on the engine and year, in this 2005 there was one upstream on the manifold which i replace, the downstream is in front of the catalytic converter.

    Remove the air filter cover and your arm fits perfectly to remove the sensor.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. Can you please give on update on how the sensor performing, is the engine light still no longer lighting up? Can you also give more detail on the O2 sensor..i e did you have to use original equiptment manufacturer. It was mention in other youtuber that using other than OEM might not fix the problem.

      everything been great , no more issues or lights or smells. there is a difference in the sensors read the numbers on the original,, Mopar makes several different ones, the aftermarkets can match these if you get the numbers, they are also available on the emissions stickers in the firewall or sometimes door jam. but thanks for the question, all is fine. I purchased the exact replacement on Ebay, it was a lot cheaper.

    2005 Dodge Grand Caravan is rough idling. I replaced all the spark plugs and wires. You reckon the 02 could be the issue?

    I have two codes U110C/U110C pd do it have anything to do with oxygen sensor

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The U110C is a BUS Message and usually has to do with both PCM and BCM, because its a lose of BUS Signal between the PCM and the BCM.
      FIRST THING TO TRY:
      The first thing I would try is remove the negative battery cable for 20 seconds then replace it. NEXT: Start the engine several times then let idle for 10 to 20 minutes then start it several more times and if the code doesn't return and the check engine light stays out, simple drive it for awhile like you normally would. If the code come right back, below is some common problems.
      COMMON CAUSES of U110C:
      (1) Communication with BCM is lost / See if you can communicate with the BCM.
      (2) PCI Bus Circuit open between PCM and BCM / Check the positive and negative bus signal at both the PCM and BCM.
      (3) BCM
      (4) PCM
      (5) Fuel Level Bus Message is missing
      Obviously, all these issues must be tested to see which one is causing the problem. BUT first try the battery cable removal and see what happens.
      Let me know the out come and I'll try to help further.
      Hope this helps and have an awesome day!

      @@ChrisEdwardsRestoration not sure. But it’s throwing the o2 heater code. It’s brand new. And the van idles great in park or neutral. Put it in gear it surges and tries to stall. Give it a few rpm and it goes away. I’m stumped

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the wrong sensor. There are different models of it. A generic one is usually poo. Look at the numbers on the old one see if they match the new. Might be a different sensor. I went through two cheap ones before getting the correct egr coded one

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that means either the O2 sensor went bad, Or they used the WRONG o2 sensor when replacing., the same sensor location as in this video, but on the original there is a emissions code, usually can also be found under the hood or on the door sticker, if you use the incorrect one, your check engine light will come back on almost immediately or after up to temp and toss the codes. be sure they used the correct part
