I loved it when it came out. Peters voice was so clear and the songs were honest and stylish. He did take a risk to put out something so different. I knew he came from the U S but he sounded british to me
I’m a new KISS fan. I’ve been heavily deep diving their history and music since the end of last year. Peter really won me over with performance in Black Diamond. I really love Dirty Livin in Dynasty and decided to check out his solo. I respect him for infusing it with his own personal tastes in sounds that’s different from the other members.
Got this '8 track' for Christmas of 78. I was a 13-year-old die hard kiss fan, and Peter was my favorite. 'I can't stop the rain' was always a personal favorite of mine. fast forward to today, when I decided to give it another spin. (I downloaded it years ago but never revisited it until today). Underrated was my first thought. It doesn't sound like Kiss. It's not supposed to. Great song, great vibe, really enjoyed. Resonates more to 59-year-old me then 13-year-old me. Definitely has an 'older' vibe to it.
Thanx for your video 👍 YES!!! We CAN love more than Kiss-music, and Peters solo album is awesome!!! I'm a Kiss-fan since 1975 AND a die hard Stones, Status Quo, ELO, Janis Joplin, Mamas and the papas, Maiden, Accept, Peter Criss, Lady Gaga.... FAN!!! I like Genes album to, eventhough Pauls is a relentless HARDrock Kiss-album, and Ace's is... wooooooow, still listen to it daily after 45 years ( ok, weekly😊)... What Im trying to say is that we can be HARDCORE kiss-fans and still love other kind of music... The bonus is that the music far from Kiss that we like is from a Founding Father of Kiss... Hope you understand what I mean Love from Sweden 💖
KISS fan most my life and Peter album has never been my least favorite. My least favorite is Gene's! I actually always thought it was a good album with a different style but since I have a very wide musical taste that doesn't bother me at all
every negative review of this album I've read has said "It just doesn't sound like Kiss" well no shit, it's a personal endeavor! blows my mind that people hate this album for its "soft" sound. just admit that you have no musical diversity at that point, this album is a masterpiece and I will die on that hill.
Peter's album was and still is my favorite by far . it is still on my regular playlist .Ace was next , Gene was next and I really did not like Paul's album because it did sound like Kiss
Peter was unable to reproduce the sound and success of Beth. Anything less was regarded as failure. Beth was the big single and Peter was gonna have to do another big single, the pressure must have been enormous. Unfortunately, general rock audiences weren't interested and fans of Kiss preferred Paul or Ace's album. On the whole, the solo albums were considered a flop. "I Was Made For Lovin' You" provided a surge in popularity in 1979 before the original band dissolved in 1980.
Peter had much greater musical depth than any member of the band. I did not shelve Peter's album. I shelved Gene's, which I purchased first. It was far from the demon, hard-core rock I was expecting. I much preferred Peter's record. It was very good music.
@@tobattotunes Peter has a good enough voice, but he simply cannot write songs. Bob Ezrin basically wrote 80% of Beth, for instance, although Peter likes to take all credit for it. And the songs on his solo album just doesn't cut it. The only one I can stand is I can't stop the rain. And that song is written by Sean Delaney. Vini Poncia, who produced Dynasty and Unmasked said quote "Peter is close to tone deaf"
@@tobattotunes cool! Its up to each an everyone to like whatever they like. I just wrote what I think about Peters solo album,. My personal favorite solo album is Paul Stanleys.

No better - No worst. Every one are different sound & style. Great solo albums💥
I've always liked it. It almost sounds more like a Billy Joel album at times, which understandably might not appeal to all KISS fans.
I can see the Billy Joel similarities now you mention it.
I agree as well, there is a Billy Joel type feel to it!!! Good point 👉
I spin it a couple of times a year.
Ace, Peter, Paul, and then Gene!!! Solo albums rating only, because Peter number, then Ace as far as best band members!!!

@@matskindell4130It's the opposite, Bob Ezrin and Stan Pendridge confirmed that Peter wrote Beth, Bob just helped him structure it!!!
