I installed one of these on my Silverado. The main bracket is no problem. The biggest problem was attaching the smaller secondary bracket. The instructions weren't the best.

Add some washers where you bolted to the frame, just enough to lower it by a hair. That will stop it from hitting.

Thanks for paving the way for others!!! Lol. mine was a pain to install as well felt like a few times a third arm would have been helpful. Mine hit as well, part of me wonders if that might be by design to have a spot for the foot to grab when pulling down. But I think I can live with it.

  • @rodl12

I did the "Bestep Trek Step Tailgate Step" and it also was a pain to install, but well worth it. I use it every time I have to go into my bed. Definitely worth the trouble! You look like you're bigger than me, I weigh 220 and it has no problem hold me.

    • @kccreations5945

Yeah I’m hoping to get some use out of it! Bummed that it doesn’t come out at an angle off the corner though. The side makes it kind of tricky to use.

I installed the same bed step in my Tundra. I thought I did something wrong because it comes on the side and not directly on the tailgate side. Mine I also hit. It’s been helpful especially for my kids.

I installed the Toyota OEM step that opens when pushed backwards. It was quite a challenge working under the truck with the components barely fitting but it’s one of the best mods iv done. I use it all the time. The one from Toyota when closed does not touch the bumper.
