Great review. Please help me choose between Pure strike 16*19, blade 98 16*19 or ezone 98? Playing with strike 2nd gen but need bit of control and comfort
I would say the Blade is a LOT more control and some more comfort. EZONE 98 is some more comfort and a bit more control. The Strike is the same for control but a tad more comfortable. My favorites of the 3 is the EZone then the Strike then the Blade, but all are great choices and you can't really go wrong
Have you tested the vcore pro 97 (310g)? I can't decide between 2020 ezone 98 or the vcore pro... the most important thing for me right now is maneuvrability... which one is more maneuvrable? And which one do you think is a better racket to be consistent during rallies?
The EZone is more maneuverable. It has a lower swing weight and a lower static weight, and it's frame cuts through the air nicely. The only thing the VCore Pro 97 has an advantage in is it's thin beam. I think it's easier to be constent with the Ezone because it is more forgiving on off centre shots. If you feel like you need quite a bit of control, because you overhit or have a very high swing speed, the VCore Pro may be better. It offers much more control than the EZone, but it won't give you much for free when you play defense etc.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD thanks!!! Just to be sure... did you mean the 310g vcore pro right? Not the 330g. If that's the case then i'm ready to go with ezone! Please confirm :D
Tell me the differences between new ezone 98 (2020 ) and the old (2018)? Do You think there are a lot of differences? I have a great feeling with the ezone 98 (2018)
Yeah the 2018 verison is a lot stiffer and this leads so some inconsistencies across the string bed. Mainly the upper hoop feels quite jarring and has a tendency to launch the ball in my experience. The 2020 is must plusher, but also more muted and controllable.
@@Iceberg012 EZone is probably a bit closey to the Blade, but it will swing much lighter and faster. The VCore is more similar in swing weight, but the power and spin is much higher, more like a Pure Strike
Hi beckett, i bought the ezone 98 2020, it is stiff. Two questions, best poly string spin and armfriendly and tension? Thanks. This compared to pstrike g3 in comfort and armfriendly?
I found the EZone to be more comfortable by than the Strike by quite a lot. Try stringing in the low 50's or high 40's. Solinco Hyper-G is a good combo between spin and comfort.
I prefer the Yonex for my game. I think if you need the extra power, the Pure Drive is one of the best choice, but I don't need that much power. I prefer to have the control to encourage me to swing harder and generate power myself.
@@ronaldolanzanas9146 you will lose some control, but gain forgiveness outside the sweet spot. The Ezone is quite a bit easier to use. I prefer the feel of the Ezone, but the Blade pockets the ball better. If those tradeoffs sound good to you, then do it. I definitely prefer the Ezone.
The launch angle on the Ezone 98 is WAY more manageable than the Extreme MP. I had the same issues with my forehand as you did. You'll be down on power and spin though. The Ultra 100 is the best combination of controllable launch angle and powerful forgiveness that I have tried. Definitely worth a look as it is a completely different racquet than last year's model.
I just hit with the 2019 ezone 98. It felt good had more power that I expected. But it felt kind of head heavy no very manuvelable at net. I am a dobles all court 4.0 player.
How much of an adjustment period have you given yourself? If i remember, this is 10g heavier than your old racquet? As a 4.0, your technique should be able to handle 305g racquet if you give yourself time to adjust. Worse case scenario you can get the lighter 285g version and add some weight in the handle to spec it up.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD i am going to with with it a few more days a friend lend it to me. Its not the only raquet I'm going to demo. But it's the one that I'm more interested in. The idea of getting the 285g and costumasint it to mi liking its a good one. Thats what I did with mi actual raquet.👍👍

I blindly bought the ezone 98 2020 version. After hearing all the hype around it, I was quite disappointed. I tried customising it with lead tape. The racket is pretty stiff and after playing it for a week, I've got a sore wrist and elbow. The racket in stock form isn't stable. It also has a hollow feel, and has quite a bit of vibration.
Yeah.. the stick is very sensitive to tension... what did you string at ? Low 50 is great... above 55 it plays like a dead stick... learnt that from my first ezone ai98...
Unfortunately we do not regularly stock the Pure Drive Vs, so I don't have access to a demo. If there's more demand I can try to get my hands on one though!
@@fergiargia332 Good question. Both racquets tick a lot of boxes in my opinion. They are wellrounded and blend power, control, and spin better than most racquets. The VCore 98 was my go-to 98 until the 2020 EZone came out. The EZone has a more precise stringbed and a softer more solid contact feel. The VCore has a less predictable stringbed, but has more spin potential. It feels more hollow and brassy. Personally, I would go for the EZone, unless you prefer a stiffer feel and like more spin.
Courtside Sports thanks ! I play with aerovs 2017 i certainly play with spin and slice a lot not straight shot but i need to take care of my arm/ elbow without losing power and comfort and feel.
The 100 is going to be quite a bit more powerful. The higher swingweight, bigger headsize, thicker beam and stiffer frame on the 100 are all going promote power and spin. The string pattern on the 100 is a bit more open so the launch angle is slightly higher, resulting in less feelings of control. Both feel very solid and comfortable, but the 98 is slightly softer and sweeter feeling. If you are more advanced or you play more aggressively, the 98 will be better. If you like to counter punch or need more versatility/an easier frame to use, the 200 will be better.

@@_.Link._ Yes, I was referring to the 310g. It's the one I have more experience playing with as well.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD so if i want a racket similar to blade 98 which racket should i choose ? ezone98 or vcore98
@@Iceberg012 EZone is probably a bit closey to the Blade, but it will swing much lighter and faster. The VCore is more similar in swing weight, but the power and spin is much higher, more like a Pure Strike
@@CourtsideSportsLTD thx a lot 🙏
Hi beckett, i bought the ezone 98 2020, it is stiff. Two questions, best poly string spin and armfriendly and tension? Thanks. This compared to pstrike g3 in comfort and armfriendly?
I found the EZone to be more comfortable by than the Strike by quite a lot. Try stringing in the low 50's or high 40's. Solinco Hyper-G is a good combo between spin and comfort.
Courtside Sports thank you beckett
@@fergiargia332 no prob, best of luck finding a new setup
Good review, thanks - can you compare to Ezone 98 pro 2020
Check out my video on the Ezone Tour for my thoughts on it. Main takeaway is maneuverability.
Sir, greetings, which do you prefer the Yonex Ezone 98 or the Babolat Pure Drive 2021?
I prefer the Yonex for my game. I think if you need the extra power, the Pure Drive is one of the best choice, but I don't need that much power. I prefer to have the control to encourage me to swing harder and generate power myself.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD thank you very much Sir👍🏼
One last thing Sir, I play with the Wilson Blade 16x19 V7, I would like to make a shift to the Yonex Ezone 98, will that be Ok Sir?
@@ronaldolanzanas9146 you will lose some control, but gain forgiveness outside the sweet spot. The Ezone is quite a bit easier to use. I prefer the feel of the Ezone, but the Blade pockets the ball better. If those tradeoffs sound good to you, then do it. I definitely prefer the Ezone.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD Ok thanks again👍🏼
great review thanks
Thanks for watching!
How does this compare to the new Head Extreme G360+ MP? The extreme feels too launchy for me when I flatten out high balls and swing out on my thbh
@@CourtsideSportsLTD I'm okay with being down on power with the ezone I usually don't have issues generating spin.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD Also, is the extreme tour worth checking out or is the ezone generally a better choice. I'm a lame/counter puncher style.
@@facelessman5362 It's worth checking out. Those are two of my favourite racquets out right now.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD Awesome, thank you!
@@CourtsideSportsLTD the 2020 vertion is softer than the previos vertion?
@@angelmuniz7096 I believe the RA is softer yes, but more importantly, many players say it also feels softer.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD i just finished mi test of ezone 98 2018. Great raquet. I had a hybrid of 2 poly diadem solice and a head poly. Bit stiff for me. I use hyper g and a multifilament. Anyway, I am going to test the speed mp but I think the ezone is the one for me. I always use lead tape at 3-9 2.5 inches of 1/4 inch lead tape. But I don't have a way to know the weight I am adding. Could you tell me about who much is 2.5 inches of lead tape? Thanks
hey how would you rate this racquet in terms of power and control on a scale of 10? and compare to a Pure Drive?
Power 7; Control 8.5 for EZone 98. Power 9; Control 6 for Pure Drive
@@CourtsideSportsLTD thanks! it seems Ezone has way more control than Pure Drive and Ezone is even more control oriented.
@@thewindrises Yeah, the EZONE 100 and Pure Drive are going to be much closer in playability.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD Gotcha. What if you compare Ezone 98 to Pure Strike (11.3 oz version 2018) then?
@@thewindrises yeah thats a closer comparison. The Strike has more spin and power but the EZONE has better control and feel.
How would you compare it with the VCORE 98?
Generally better. More solid feel, more precise and consistent stringed. Less spin and less plowthrough but very stable still
I blindly bought the ezone 98 2020 version.
How did you string it?
Yeah.. the stick is very sensitive to tension... what did you string at ? Low 50 is great... above 55 it plays like a dead stick... learnt that from my first ezone ai98...
can you compare to the dr 98?
Unfortunately, I have never played with the DR98.
Great review! Thanks! What about pire drive vs and this ezone 2020?
Unfortunately we do not regularly stock the Pure Drive Vs, so I don't have access to a demo. If there's more demand I can try to get my hands on one though!
Courtside Sports thanks a lot!!
Courtside Sports differences between previous ezone and ezone 2020 ? And ezone 2020 vs vcore? Thank you very much
@@fergiargia332 Good question.
Nick doesn't use it . I was watching Osaka yesterday i think she uses it but i noticed a Lot of lead tape in the hoop
Nick DOESNT use the EZONE 98!! AI 98 WITH A PAINTJOB!!!!
Does it give good topspin?
Yes bigtime. It's very headlight so you can develop a lot of racquet head speed which helps with spin
This was a good ASMR video
Where r u from? California ?
We are located in Victoria, Canada

@@slapcitytennis9103 email customerservice@courtsidesports.com with this request
can you compare the 98 to the 100?
The 100 is going to be quite a bit more powerful. The higher swingweight, bigger headsize, thicker beam and stiffer frame on the 100 are all going promote power and spin. The string pattern on the 100 is a bit more open so the launch angle is slightly higher, resulting in less feelings of control. Both feel very solid and comfortable, but the 98 is slightly softer and sweeter feeling. If you are more advanced or you play more aggressively, the 98 will be better. If you like to counter punch or need more versatility/an easier frame to use, the 200 will be better.
@@CourtsideSportsLTD great answer, thank you! this means I will demo both. I demoed the Vcore 98 before the lockdown and liked it quite a lot (feel/touch was not great though) but I want to test this Ezone as well. I am coming from a Blade 98 v7 18x20 which for me is a racket hard to handle ..(I need more power and spin)
Iam a baseliner - which would be better pure aero vs or ezone 2020?
Depends what your priorities are. If you can control the ball yourself but need more power and spin, the Pure Aero is better. If you have your own power, but need control from your racquet the EZone is better.
Courtside Sports thank you. The pure drive vs is enough for power for me but not for spin. If this new ezone is easier for spin and has more power than the previous i think i would feel ok. What donyou think?
But i need comfort for my arm too
@@fergiargia332 the EZone is more comfortable than any Babolat racquet right now. I would guess spin would be Similar between the EZone and PDVS. Look into the Head Extreme. Comfy and spinny.
Courtside Sports do i resign connection and feel with a yonex compared to babolat? Thanks a lot!
Does Kyrgios use the original Xi?
Yes
I hear many good things about the ezone dr98
Yeah! Many loved the DR98, but they are getting quite old and hard to find. The current EZone is quite similar to the legendary DR!
