Did this mod on my trike years ago. String to middle of rear axle works pretty well. Cornering improved a lot! One tip if you are afraid to mess up the angles when welding: Cut the parts with margin and mark and drill the hole for the ballpin for the steering rod after the welding and grind off the access material. Worked for me :)))
@@stevevinson6030 that coating you referred to is mill slag, and when mig or tig welding it should definitely be removed. By the way, I'm pretty impressed with what you do with what you have. Keep up the good work.
Nice video Steve. I think you covered that very well. I am interested to hear how the handling improved. I know caster and ackerman play a big roll on these thin tires.
A question, you don't put any ackerman on it? I build recumbent trikes and there you put ackerman on the steering. But when I look ad the cycle cars, I don't see that. Is there a reason for?
Yes Ackerman is helpful. My newest spindles have Ackerman. The Cyclekart is a crude machine. Most karts have very simple steering geometry and they do just fine.

I been watching a few video on how to build a cycle Kart this is good
Thanks for watching
Thank you!!!!!! God bless!!!!
Same to you!
Great information Steve! I remade the steering arms on my spindles to account for ackerman. (I used to be an alignment mechanic)
Fantastic, we can always improve. Thanks for watching.

What kind of welder do you use? Like, 120 or 240, MIG or stick, etc?
I have a Mig Eastwood 175. it works well, although, I am not a welder, I'm a grinder, lol. Thanks for watching
