    The simplest, quickest, and free way to lower the ride height is to remove the lower spring retaining platforms from the shocks. Just push them up and off the shock shafts, and let the springs expand down to where the shock mounts to the axle. This may look odd. This may not be scale realistic. But how many people actually look at that part of the truck anyway? It accomplishes the intended purpose and is simple, quick, and free.

    Good video. Can you measure in mm from stock mount hole to new mount hole? Would you raise or lower from in video if had the option?

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah it's about 4mm higher than the stock mount hole and about 4 or 5mm forward as well. I settled on this location because any lower and the steering servo hits the battery tray and you wouldn't get full travel out of the shocks. You could try something like this that give you multiple options for tuning! www.etsy.com/listing/1572714998/fms-fcx18-lc80-shock-keys

  • @MarkJohnMorris
    @MarkJohnMorris 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You can just add like 5mm of tubing to the inside of each shock, this will lower it 5mm. Add what ever length you want. Lowering shocks is super simple 👌 ❤

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's true, that will lower it! You will sacrifice down travel or droop by the shortened shock stroke. There's no free lunch 👍

    • @MarkJohnMorris
      @MarkJohnMorris 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @havikhobbies very true about the travel being shortened too, i stuck some slightly stiffer springs on my TRX4, lowered the stance and travel, but stiffer springs provided the rebound and almost ensures it doesnt bottom out, i have alot of scale accessories 😀 so i run thicker oil too (1000wt)

      G'day! I haven't really done many upgrades to my truck too be honest. The transmission and axles have proven to be reliable. My favorite places to hit up for upgrades are Mofo RC, Injora and FMS (Check out Fair RC) themselves have upgrades like the metal transmission gears and the like! Between those websites you'll find anything you could possibly need for this truck! I usually only swap out parts that improve performance and reliability 👍

      Should just be able to unscrew the top shock mount with a hex wrench (1.5mm?) the lower shock mount is shared with the lower link, so you can either unscrew the shock and lower link together OR carefully twist rotate the shock off the lower link ball thingy. I hope that helps!

After watching many vids about how top heavy these things are I'm looking forward to doing mods like you have discussed. I'm a machinist and can make parts to modify my rig. Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm really happy with how it's driving, huge improvement over stock. The upper shock mount was raised about 4mm and moved forward about the same 3-4mm. Ive seen you got a trx4m too, a bronco, it's been a couple months from this video, how would you compare it to the traxxas? I'm deciding between one of those but i'm quite a mess atm, trx looks more beefy, im planning to upgrade to the bones the one i get, i'll be doing mostly trails and some light crawling.. Thanks!

    • @havikhobbies
      @havikhobbies  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The TRX4M is easier to work on, the Bronco can be quite capable with some mods and HobbyTown stores often have lots of upgrades and spares. The FCX18 has a better slow crawl right out of the box but it's a bit tall/tippy without mods. Both are fun and capable of trailing and crawling. I'd pick the one that looks better to you!
