If folks who say they hate liver could taste yours and not be told that it was liver, they would change their minds. Most folks when they had their first experience the liver was probably not seasoned well and tasted irony. I needed you to do this to remind me how to cook it. I love a fried liver with sautéed onions sandwich on white bread, with mayo and Texas Pete hot sauce-no gravy. But growing up we did eat it with gravy and white rice. Yum Yum.
As an adult I make it two ways. Cook seasoned calf liver in 1/2 stick butter and remove liver after cooking on both sides and sauté Visalia onions. Replace liver, add a little water or chicken broth, raise heat for a minute covered, then turn off heat. This way goes great with white beans and rice in New Orleans!!
Next way is simply cook with a brown gravy. Delicious with grits!!

That's all my mother cooked back in the day; fried liver with fry onions and snoothered in gravey, because her iron was very low.....it was delicious 😋 😊😘

This is exactly how I would make this for my father in law.God rest his soul.He passed in March.The 🫑 are a nice addition.I even added some red peppers and mushrooms before.It was amazing.Thanks for the nostalgia Gina.

My husband loves liver and onions, always asks me to make it, but I really was hesitant as I made it once but it was really tough. But, thanks to you, Gina, I will be making your recipe and I'm sure it will be a delicious surprise for him.
If you want the liver to have some tenderness ,you can marinate it in a lil vinager or buttermilk,or slice the liver thin.Have a great day🤗

I used to eat liver and onions growing up. I don’t see it in the market very often. I think people stay away from organ meat because it’s high in cholesterol.
We used to call it calves liver-probably not the best marketing term.
Fresh beef liver and onions smothered in gravy after being fried in all purpose flour. 😋

My mother who just past away on 4/16/2022 loved smothered liver and onions she would make it with rice and biscuits I would eat the rice with the biscuits and gravy but I just did not like the liver but she loved it

I only had liver once, and I never tried it again lol My beloved Dad said when he was growing up, my grandmother would say, “We have to have liver tonight”, every couple of months. My Dad and his brother and sisters would not be happy! lol But my grandmother believed in eating it for health. I’m sure if I tried yours I would love it! No I love liver and onions but don't want no bell peppers in mine and I want my onions done. I cook my liver then take it out when done then put in my onions when they get done I take them out make my brown gravy put liver back in and onions on top of liver cowering everything in brown gravy and everybody has always loved my liver and onions. 😊 That's how I make mine .
