This show is so good, sometimes I even forget that it's all just practical effects and cgi and not actual zero g.
Most of the sets are real, there's less CGI than you may think.
Actually, it's the same systems used to train astronaut and cosmonauts for zero g...so technically..zero G.

Somebody’s gotta play the good guy with an unbreakable moral compass. And Steven did a fantastic job.
S1E1 When he decided to actually log the distress call, knowing every one of the crew would hate him for doing it. Doing something when you can just walk away takes way more guts that doing something when the all hell is breaking loose.
In the book, it's made much more explicit that the captain also thinks the rescue is the right thing to do, but is laying cover for Holden to do the right thing anyway.
It'll always be discussed wether this move was right or not. In the end, the martians here were never going to hurt them, he just pissed them off. In fact, every single person in the solar system hated Holden for these strings of messages in the first book and season. Because they basically were the match that ignited the gunpowder and threw the entire solar system into war. All because James fucking Holden couldn't keep his mouth shut
@@arturofernandez4058 TO be fair to Holden, he was acting on the little knowledge that he had at that moment. For all he knew, they were being picked up the same strike group as the one that killed the Cant.
@@urbypilot2136 This the only people they knew of that had advanced stealth ships was Mars so it was an easy decision to come to with little time to confirm.

Only 'discovered' "The Expanse" a few months ago. I work in the space sector so I may be biased but after watching the first episode, I ended up binge-watching all 6 seasons in 3 weeks. It was phenomenal - and the scientific accuracy is incredibly accurate.
i saw a youtube vid about great sp[ace battles and saw one from The Expanse - got prime just to binge watch it
It makes the show so much more intense, especially the action sequences
james holden is easily my favorite character in the show, hes a good man, and a hero, and an amazing leader.
he's also idealistic and naive. it's those flaws that make him a great character
I'm more of an Amos guy.. doing the dirty that needs to get done when no body wants to get their hands or conscience dirty

They should've included the scene where Holden saves Christen and Bobby from UN ship, I remember thinking that was a brilliant tactic with the missiles.
That scene made a meal out of the famous Adama Maneuver from BSG

To be fair, that's the way most computer games hero operate. I mean Commander Shepard probably pushed 10 times more buttons than Holden and also got called out on the Citadel DLC :p
@Ray Miller is the best noir character since Bogart in The Big Sleep. I love how the show took pretty much every stereotype character and built on them to create real people.

Clipping a cable to Naomi and then kicking her in the back was an awesome example of every action has an equal and opposite reaction which sent him to the deck of the bridge so he could real her in.
And you could hear the fear and her voice, because for her whole life, she was around other people that would have kicked off of her to save themselves - but without attaching that cable.

Miller is the biggest hero of the 4 seasons. They should do a video of him.
I'd like to see special on Miller's character.
Miller is the type of character that is understated yet in every turn of events he'll be there.

I started rewatching this show on Saturday thinking I'd just watch season 1 and I'm now on season 4🤣 it's so good
I picked the show up after Amazon had picked up production and did pretty much the same and knew I needed to slow down when my dreams became The Expanse.

At some point, I hope a studio decides to continue the story this series started, or at least develops an offshoot in the same universe Ty & Dan created.
When they pulled a high g fast and furious manoeuvre and shot off the engines of that UNSV ship...yeah...that's the most iconic space scene in any tv show.

Steven Strait also looks like Kit Harrington. James Holden idolizes knight stories. His favourite is Don Quixote that is why he has this hero complex trying to save everyone. Throughout the books, he matured though.

@@WestLegend03 I've been going through the books for the first time, and it surprised me that the tension between the characters is an addition to the show (which I really like!). In the books they start off a lot more neutral with one another. Really good change in my opinion since it makes it more compelling when they do start to come together

In a fantasy universe Holden will be the paladin leader of the party, Amos - orc barbarian, Alex - the thief, Naomi - a sorcerer, Avisarala - a priest and Bobby - a warrior.

He was a fine example of a horribly flawed hero . In my opinion he protected his self-interest as long as it wasn't him continuing living every time. Numerous examples of it throughout the books. He would endanger the world to protect the one he valued every time

Agreed with all of Holden's decisions except for the time he disarmed the nuke bound for Inaros. That would have saved so many lives. But I guess it just shows he is human and not infallible.

I would've switched _Home_ and _The Big Empty_ with _The Wave_ and _-Mexican-__ Illusian Standoff._ On second thought, all of S4 should be in this, as Holden's sticking his neck out and risking his life 24/7 in that one.

I love Holden, one of the few moral characters who deals with messes pro-actively and intelligently (looks at you, Ned Stark).
The best syfy series going it is far better than any star trek currently running.

I love the series, up until season 4, where it lost quite a bit. One thing that called my attention: you don't have ANY clue what's happening when starting to watch. I had to watch it twice to see how well crafted even the background is. The series starts as a big mistery. Unfortunately they messed up the german version. Holden doesn't come over so hard boiled like in the origonal, that's why I didn't liked him much. They also managed Drummer sounding like she was having a stroke for like 6 episodes for no reason. I really like science fiction and no series before took a route where I was sure: This WILL happen weithin the next 100-150 years! Well done!🎉 🎉🎉

As much as I absolutely friggin love the expanse, and they're superior sc-fi science realism, you've really got to wonder where they keep all that reaction mass for their drives. If this was an Irish production, they'd have called it "the feckin' expanse".Prior to it's restart, I had never been so dejected at a series' cancellation.
Get an object to light speed and it effectively has infinite mass. If they can somehow push out even minuscule amounts of mass at very near light speed they have their thrust.
@@Awol991 The energies required would be immense. The Epstein drive looks like a miniature and seamless version of the Daedalus drive. I'm right in the middle of sculpting the four Rocinante crew for making figures, because they can't be gotten anywhere.
They go in to more details in the books, basically it seems like they use a laser compression fusion engine coupled with water as a reaction mass, so ships carry large tanks of water (which they need to keep anyway) and use it as reaction mass. It's stated that the faster you go the faster you use reaction mass, so poodling around at 1/3rd G you can go a long time between refuels, possibly well over a year, but if you want to push yourself on say a long 3G burn, you'll run out of fuel in a few weeks. It's like afterburners on a fighter jet, lots more thrust at the cost of massive fuel expenditure.

@@Cynthesis21 I am not saying the drives make ships go that fast. If the drive can move the exhaust that fast the effective reaction mass for the drive increases. And as light speed is always relative the effective mass increase is always there.

Amazon has about a year left to do something with The Expanse before it can be bought by another network/company, and apparently both Apple and HBO Max are very interested. Of course developing the rest of James SA Corey’s (Ty Franck & Dan Abraham) Expanse books are only one option that someone buying the franchise would have. Any number of off-shoots of that Universe would be possible. No matter what happens, considering the lack of originality in TV & Film right now, not to mention the enormous fan base this series has created over the past 7 years - which just continues to grow, it would be ridiculous for this franchise to sit on the shelf going forward because of a lack of development. Especially given the countless number of series released seemingly every month, with so many that are barely entertaining. So🤞Apple, HBO, or another company capitalizes on this franchise’s popularity & potential.

They're acting/moving like they're in a thick fluid in slow motion, not like space! It's as bad as the internally lit helmets, that should have ended in "Hollywood" by this late date, so many tired old tropes about space in this series, I can't like it.

Of all the characters in the Expanse.... I always thought Naomi and Holden were the least believable and the poorest acted.
I never liked either of them.
