Thank you for bringing up archetypes and how they relate to the story. Years ago, I was restlessly channel surfing and I came upon an old man sitting in a chair. All he did was sit in this chair and talk, but what he said was so fascinating, I stopped and listened as long as he talked. He was Joseph Campbell, of course, and I just unearthed my copy of "Transformation of Myths Through Time" and I need to do some reading.
Perhaps not a tale I would choose myself, but you have captivated me through your vivid narration. Thought-provoking, commentary, learning much about myself and others . Thank you, Tony.
Fantastic tale, so well told. Your psychological analysis at the end was a marvellous bonus, very thought provoking. It was also lovely to hear about your plans and previous adventures on the internet.
I'm a mental health nurse in Australia- I understand the mental load that goes along with your work. Balancing other interests & work is key. I really enjoy your narrations.
Talk about synchronicity!!! I was just looking for you under subscriptions, I rem I’d missed one of your stories or I remembered Jasper had a female author story but it was way too many notifications ago so I thought I’d look for you in subscription’s but before I had a chance you sent this and that means that it’s meant to be! Thank you so much for your aweamazing entertainment! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great story as always but...I wanted to also say that although you're reducing the time you spend in mental health work, I'm glad there are people like you doing it....and wish there were more. As someone who has been in and out of MH services the number one thing that has made a difference is being treated like an individual, and a person - not a collection of symptoms or a label. Sadly I think it's getting worse and services don't have the time or capacity - meaning workers have to reduce us to something less than people just to do their jobs without despairing. Anyway - thanks for being one of the good ones :) x
I don't tend to speak about my thoughts about the poor state of mental health services on this channel, but I often do elsewhere. I have many friends of course who still work in the field and most of them are decent humans. Yet people are let down. It's a great shame.
Fantastically enjoyable listening to this story in your reading voices. Thanks so much Tony---enjoyed your Ramble very much too. It must have been a Thing in the 1800s for sets of writing siblings to go by just their first initials. Quite confusing.
Fabulous work. Great narration and a chilling story. Plus, the commentary at the end is the extra value you add that others can’t replicate. Keep up the great work.
Where is a hot haunt spot? Hurst castle…. That orange roof hotel…. Skid row…. I hear about a haunted hotel in Port Angeles…. Here…. Does sound like fun.
I guess The Heartwood Institute is the new Tubular Bells! Of course I googled them, I might buy the album. I am interested in the facility too- thanks Tony. Namaste Love to family. Happy Halloween...
Thank you for this story, Tony. Excellent story and your narration did it justice. I listened to your commentary afterwards. What an interesting life you have had, and have now! Keep up the good work. 👍 ❤
I love this story, especially the flowing and descriptive prose. I could listen to hours on end of someone reading the details of a country walk. Thanks so much for this.
Humblest of performance suggestions: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Young Goodman Brown, Bartleby the Scrivener, The Devil and Dan’l Webster, even House of Seven Gables or Scarlett Letter. Do read them as an Englishman, please. The flyover country accents, cowboy and southern drawls- hadn’t developed contemporaneously to these works. ‘Muricans sounded English, Scottish, Continental/Dutch. The Mid-Atlantic speech of Hepburn, Grant (and yes, me) was inchoate. And for the love of the Q/K’s English forego that wicked cant*, Bostonian. Xoxo, you’re fabulous,Tony.
If this was difficult writing to narrate, you certainly didn't show it. You even managed to make your accent subtly, suitably plummy. As the story went on, I was reminded of 'Full Circle ', and of 'Oh Whistle...' It seems that the brothers shared a common vision of that other world just over there, but war way over there. Of brothers I have only one. He has borderline personality disorder with an over 50 years habit of fragile narcissism (easier to enable than fight him), and ADHD. I can understand your wanting to take a step back. We would if we could. Thanks as always Tony. Back to baking bread. (Butternut with pepitas and nutmeg). 🥖🍞🥖🍞🥖
Good work as always. With your perfect voice and timing; (THE HISTORIAN by Elizabeth Kostova) I think, would be a good listen. It's a long book, so maybe a segmented presentation. Or, maybe you will not like it at all. Just a thought. As always, Love your channel.
@@ClassicGhost Aye, Tony: they are wretched and ubiquitous. Doughnuts weirdly raw but dry within, and so overly sugared, it hurts one’s teeth just to see them. Do you know they collaborate with Harpoon Brewery on a range of ales every autumn? Lord have mercy.
You narrations, not AI, but a truly talented storyteller. Brilliant, Tony.
Truly complex, even more disturbing this time around-- now listening with new ears--facing "new" shadows. Forceful work, Tony., thank you.
This one doesn’t get listened to as much as it deserves so i’m glad you listened to it
After I have processed this time around,I will listen again to consider facets I haven't as yet considered.@@ClassicGhost
Back from walking the dog, about to do needlework and have a cuppa. Excellent timing! Greetings from Nova Scotia.
Novia Scotia. We have someone else from Nova Scotia who comments here.
I'm in Nova Scotia too. A great story, thank you Tony.
I also am fresh back from walking the hound! Think I’ll follow your lead and bust out the pg tips. 👻🎃
What kind of dog?
@@carolynlewis9008 Louie the Labradoodle. 😹. They are the most emo dogs 🐩! I wouldn’t recommend. Too smart for our own good.

This is a good one too. Glad you're listening!
I wish you the joys and peace that you bring to others in your day to day life. Compassion is a heavy thing, friend.

Always a pleasure listening too your narration, while lying in bed of at night. Thank you. ☺️👵🏻🇦🇺
I hope the horrid tale soothed you off to sleep :))
Absolutely brilliant🙏
Some sentences sound like inspirations for Mr. Lovecraft😵💫
The like button has been duly smitten!
The haunted tours sound lovely. I'd help with that on the American side (west coast)

+Renee Lascala I’ve done goodman brown and Christmas Carol . I am lined up to do sleepy hollow too :)
Must be Friday!
Indeed yes
11:44 Oh, sure, and rock and roll is just a fad 😜.
I am saddened to say that I think that rock is dead. I don't know what most young people listen to these days, but it ain't rock an' roll.

* Yes, a Stave III Christmas Carol term. It suits the denizens of Dunkin’ Donuts.
I was amazed how many Dunkin Donuts there were in Boston. Amazed. We got one at North Station, but it was too sweet really

I’m starting to pick up your accent lol! I’m not joking

What an excellent story! The Bensons were a talented lot
