A selection of seven classic ghost stories set in the season of falling leaves and lengthening shadows, by authors including M. R. James, Charles Dickens, Amelia B. Edwards, Charlotte Riddell, Edith Nesbit and Bernard Capes. Story timestamps: 00:01:40 Was It An Illusion, by Amelia B. Edwards (1881) 00:55:27 The Trial for Murder, by Charles Dickens (1865) 01:28:33 The Tractate Middoth, by M. R. James (1907) 02:15:00 Walnut-Tree House, by Charlotte Riddell (1878) 03:20:29 Man-size in Marble, by Edith Nesbit (1887) 03:59:18 The Corner House, by Bernard Capes (1909) 04:39:18 The Shadow in the Corner, by Mary Elizabeth Braddon (1879) These stories are already available on the channel as individual uploads if you prefer to listen that way, although I've taken the opportunity while producing this anthology to remaster and re-edit some of the older recordings. (Note: as they were recorded episodically you may notice a slight variation in acoustic/audio quality between stories.)
Hi Simon. Great collection that you put together for us. Absolutely great that you are busy with acting and delighting people all over the UK with your talent. I know how busy you are and I refrain from posting comments like I did previously as you have such a volume. I am now posting with a bit of news. No doubt you may have heard but if not then like all horror story devotees then you will be glad to hear that a Bram Stoker story "Gibbet Hill" has been discovered by Brian Cleary a researcher at the National Library of Ireland. This was a great find as it has been undiscovered for decades. Even biographers were unaware of it. Glad to know that your great channel goes from strength to strength. As always wishing you continued health and happiness and continued success in all your future endeavours. God Bless.
You sir are a PiP of the highest order!! I am a roadsweeper driver trundling around at 2 mph cleaning building sites and with your help i am now a full qualified ghost hunter, Victorian directive AND steam railway technician…. Thank you for everything ☺️☺️☺️
Thank you for the service that you offer the public, whether they in your community acknowledge it or not. As a traveler, I notice your presence and the lack there of it in places. It makes a difference whether I stop and patronize that city. You are appreciated, your presence makes an impact.
I have been a voracious reader all my life and find it hard to read books as I get older, so I greatly enjoy these narrations. Like with my books, I would often go back and read a favorite again, and it was like visiting with an old friend. I get that same feeling with these compilations, as I have listened to these stories before, and now I visit them again with a sense of warm welcoming. Thanks, Simon.
It’s a pleasure to be a member. You’re the only channel I am supporting. I feel this niche genre needs to be kept alive in this ever darkening world. Your calm collected also classy delivery gives these classics new life again. These are all my favorite re listens. You’re one of the Best, Simon.
Hi Simon. I want to thank you for your channel. I'm very ill and your channel has been a very dear part of my life. Not only do you share my taste in fiction, but your voice is perfect for narrating them. Thank you. P.s you've lost weight 😊
Thank you for the enjoyable reading. The way of reading is often more important than the content of a story. Like the way a book is written is at least as important as the content. I have listened to quite a few readers, you are the one I don’t get tired of.
After missing the two big Halloween events I had planned this month fall through, this is so welcome, Simon! Thanks for making the time between touring to put this together.😊
No one does it as beautifully as you Simon. This is a sumptuous treat and your channel is one of the highlights of my relaxing time. Love to you and my fellow listen🧡
As I have some time at my disposal, may I take the liberty as to thank you, kind Sir, for this true oasis in a desert of artificially narrated stories that were mostly coughed up by artificial intelligence, I would guess. Thank you very kindly, Sir, for your clear articulation, your choice of stories, from which I do learn a lot, English being only my second language, and your outstanding performance narrating these wonderful stories.
Bloody good choices!💀excuse the pun the first story is one of my favorites Thank you The sky is blue the grass is green May we have our Halloween? 🎃 thank you for adding to mine
Several of my favorites!! Excellent listing for the upload. The 'Shadow in the Corner' always p!ss's me off!! Two cowards that intentionally destroyed a young girls life!!
Thanks as an actor is the beard a part of a role you are in at the moment? Or is it just a change you felt like having ? I've liked all your work in the year I've been listening its good quality and different to most of you tube.its true class .
Thank you! Actually, I've had to lose the beard for my current role so I'm now clean shaven again, I've just not had time to record a new intro video yet...
Yes indeed, I did highlight that in the description and posted on the community tab... New content is in the pipeline (next week, I hope), but these compilations seem to be a good introduction to the channel for new listeners, and for those who want to listen for longer periods without interruption from ads
I find more things when I listen to your grouped selections. The experience of each story seems to be modified by those you associate with it. Compilation fan here!
Incredibly sad. A sketch of how innocent seeming lies, and slightly malicious ones, can cause great harm. I suppose it was worse back in the days of stiff upper lips and not discussing discomforting truths, although they both prevail in some ways.
This 5+ HOUR video launched 12 MINS ago and has already received 28 "Likes". There's no way they listened to this upload. I'm guessing that Bitesized listeners are willing to offer kudos on credit? Kinda like Obama's Nobel Peace Prize...

Oooooh!
Much as I love Simon's narrations' he's by far the best reader on TH-cam; this is a compilation of previous offerings. Nothing new here.
