AMAZING Self Made Bed for the Van Conversation (Vauxhall Vivaro)

- I have been sleeping in my van for five weeks on a very uncomfortable camping bed, and I have had enough! So it's time I make my bed. But van conversions can be complicated and sometimes you need to ask for help! So I contact a friend to help me build a bed for my Vauxhall Vivaro van build.

Good work getting the bed sorted (almost). I had one of those camping beds and they suck. You're doing OK and hopefully it will have the essentials all done before winter sets in.

Noticed it was emulsion tub you used. Could have gone over it with maybe oil based undercoat in place.

Would like to know what the white fuzzy stuff you put against the van walls first was!!
But as previously mentioned you do need more ventilation in the bed base, as a caravan inhibiter those solid board bases just wont let the heat and condensation escape, you'll be waking in a puddle soon,.
You might need to add a few more holes in the bed base , just to allow air to escape , but looking good , i made mine as a timber seat thst lies flat to make the bed, but now im thinking of doing it u shaped

I'm looking for a weekender van. I want one a bit longer for that reason. I also want to be able to carry my motorbike so will have to be able to convert to give me more space.

I've just found your channel. its very interesting for me as i plan to live in my tiny van next year to save some cash. i currently use it for travelling as it is but its not big enough to live in fall time so after a year of living in it i will buy a bigger van and the one thing i constantly think about is the bed. im 6ft tall and do not want to sleep sideways. getting a good nights sleep is very important to me but i also dont want to take up all the room with a bed. i think you're idea of extending the bottom is probably the way ill go so thank you for the inspiration. also i watched a video of you dropping your mates car at the garage and running back. i have ti say your videos are very well put together and well edited. you remind a bit of Beau Miles. i make videos myself but my editing is very very basic 😂

A hammock tent would be easy to hang and keep you cosy in winter. It would lie level no matter the slope you park on and free up the interior space when put away. You would also have full length to stretch out . Insulating the walls and not putting in a window was good but you have lost at lot of the benefit by taking out the bulkhead (instead of just putting in a pocket door)

Hi mate what is the dimensions inside of the van? Looking to a small double long ways
It's around 240cm in length so can easily fit a double long ways 👍
@@Nomadickangoo thanks for the reply mate! what's the width? And size of the wheel arch? Do u think its feasible to just stick a small double frame in there? Looking for a quick solution
@@jamied3215 width is about 170cm but the rear wheel arches is about 126cm but you could always build on top of the wheel arch box to keep the 170cm BUT vivaro has a middle wall beam that makes the middle section come in abit.. so your bed frame might have to go in like a hour glass shape abit.
@@Nomadickangoo what is the height of the wheel arch? Would a bed go straight over that then? What wheelbase is your van please?
@@Nomadickangoo also when you upgraded from the microcamper did you have any thoughts about getting a high roof? What's your thoughts on a high roof van?

If you don‘t panel the insides of the walls(as seen in this video), and just use 6mm of Armaflex followed by 4-way stretch carpeting in the rear side cavities (either above the rear wheel arches or higher up in the rear side window cavities), you can have a width of upto about 177cm. I‘m currently writing this reply whilst lying widthwise in my bed in my Vivaro B self-build camper! Cheers from sunny Andalusia.
