      Hi Jon, I’m embarking on my own build and after researching so many vivaro swb type conversions your ideas, design and standard of work is first class and I intend to use your informative videos to get going. I’ve got a load of questions though to do with design, measurements, specs and more that I can’t see in your videos. If you have any more info from your work that may help me can you let me know how I can obtain it! cheers Jon.

    Im looking to buy my first campervan in the next 6 months when i find one ,haven't got a clue which van to buy yet ,been looking at Renault traffic, vauxhall,Mercedes, transit, vw just dont know, il spend up £20000 on the right one ,have you got any hints or tips on what to buy ,your van looks great just the sort of thing i want ,thanks for this great vlog

    • @TheJDWay
      @TheJDWay  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there mate. To be honest, no i havent got a clue which one is best thesedays. Someone left a comment on here just the other day slagging the trafics off. But as i told him it seems everyone has a different story and experience with vans. Somebody says x van is the worst with a tun of problems, then someone will say they love it and never had an issue for years. I personally come to the conclusion that whatever you buy, there will be people who think its a bad van..... So you might aswell pick whatever makes you feel good and go with it. Security wise... It seems that they can all be broken into in seconds if they really want to so thats another issue in itself.
      So that's my take on it mate - maybe ask a mechanic to see if they know any better.
      I chose mine because i dindt want a great big thing like a sprinter. Its all a matter of pros and cons in this game (size, headroom, easy parking)
      Anyway all the best with it, youve got alot of thinking to do.

    I've seen a few of those magnetic knife strips in camper van conversions. Surely they can't been safe in an accident?
    Do you put the knives away when driving?
    Camper looks good though, I think I'm going to go down the vivaro or traffic ( same thing I guess) route.

    • @TheJDWay
      @TheJDWay  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Nah i just keep them on there all the time to be honest... But you certainly could pop them in a draw i suppose. I reckon they would just fall on the floor in an accident.
      Good luck with your project. Hope mine give you some some ideas.

    • @TheJDWay
      @TheJDWay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah its all compromises with these things. A low top is more stealthy and easier to park sometimes. High tops give you head room but might limit your parking sometimes.... Its all pros and cons in this game. But that makes for lots of variation among the community which is interesting I think.
      Thanks for your comment mate.

      Mine is on 370000 km, still running very well. I've had a VW T5, but this one is a thousand percent better for me, maybe because I'm a mechanic and service and repair the van myself. What I love is the simplicity, I can be in the middle of nowhere and know that I'll never get stuck stuck. My friend also has a Primastar for the past 12 years. Maybe parts and service are too expensive in your country. Here in South Africa, I replaced my gearbox mount, it was 200 rands, thats less than 10 pounds, and free labor from me
