    Fun fact about them: Trent Reznor does all of the music. He plays every instrument as well as singing the songs. He hires people to play instruments when he tours.

      BUSTAcap unless something changed in the last few years, it's facts. NiN was my first favorite band and I was really into them. I've seen interviews and read articles about him in rock magazines back in the day. They all said exactly what I just said.

      BUSTAcap www.iheart.com/alternate/amp/2018-05-17-trent-reznor-19-things-you-need-to-know/ read number 12. I was mainly referring to this song he reacted to, which is off the Pretty Hate Machine. Around this time is when I saw interviews and read about him. I had only the two albums at that time, PHM, and Broken.

    • @DerangedVoices
      @DerangedVoices 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And no, I didn't pay attention or read the CD jackets. I was a huge fan of NiN until the album with Hand That Feeds. They started getting softer, and I was getting into heavier music like Slipknot and KoRn. So maybe I was wrong the way I worded it, looking like I meant every single CD they have, but I was correct that he can play every single instrument.

    NIN/Trent Reznor is probably the most interesting thing that happened in contemporary music. I discovered him/them with Pretty hate machine and Trent since became a composer, in my opinion, on par with Philip Glass, able to blend his NIN persona with the minimalist music he puts out on soundtracks, notably with David Fincher but also on HBO's Watchmen or Patriot's Day for instance. I'd love to see him conduct an orchestra and mosh for an encore!

    little tidbit to tell you how *hype* this song was back in the day. during the first lollapalooza, this song would be a set closer for nin. band members from the other bands often just came onto stage during other bands' sets and joined in, but when nin played this song, there would be members from all the other bands plugging in and joining or just wildin out in general. henry rollins band, jane's addiction, ice-t and body count, the butthole surfers, and siouxie sioux's band all had members on stage. nin would end the song by smashing their equipment (a thing that happened out of frustration during the first show) and it became a thing; nin is the band that smashes all their shit onstage at the end of this song, let's go do it!

    Not only was his sound ahead of the times, his visual style was ahead as well. Trent was rocking dredlocks and grungy clothes in the late 80's. Fast forward 10 years, alternative bands did the grunge look to death and nu-metal had adopted the dreadlocks as sacrosanct while Reznor took on a more sleek, professional style.

    Seen NIN twice, once at Glastonbury around 2000 and again at the Staples Centre in LA 6 or 7 years ago, both times fantastic.

    I totally forgot about Miley singing this. I don't usually listen to her but I thought that was an interesting take on the song.

    DUUUUDE!! God Bless you for saying that Miley Cyrus had RUINED this song by singing it herself!! BLASPHEMY!!🤣
    I'm very happy that you can ENJOY this song again! (Rather like when Avril Lavigne sang Metallica's "Fuel" at the "Metallica Rock Honors" in 2003(!) on vH1; my youngest son & I still CRINGE remembering it whenever we hear "Fuel" on the radio!🤢🤮🤯😖🤬👎☠‼️).
    Loved watchin' you ROCK OUT listening & singing along, so I'ma have to check out more of your reviews, beginning with "Closer", Hell yeah!
    You've got another subscriber here, & I really enjoyed you! 😁☮
