Wheel size looks spot on. I had a Group 3 when they were new , so I prefer the Aero Caps. 16 inch wheels was bloody big in the day and tyre choices were very limited and only hi end brands were available. Bridgestone Potenza is a good choice. You need to pull that chrome moulding and door handles off and get it powder coated. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice! I’m not a fan of the caps for some reason 🤷🏻♂️ I remember as a young fella I had 16s on my vr and thought they were huge. Yeah I know it would look better black.
@ The Aero caps were from another planet at the time, but given you are building a Group A replica, it looks correct without the caps. Yeah, just bite the bullet and get the moulding done. Powder coating is relatively cheap and it will never come off.
Nice job... always old school in terms of wheels. These cars were never designed for 19" and 20" wheels, which look great on modern cars, but not so much on classics. However, each to his own.
Agreed. My younger brother has been saying put 19s or 20s on. I told him yes they look good but it drives like absolute 💩 much rather comfort over looks
A great moment in any build. Well done, it looks perfect! 👍
What I like is you doing whatever you like to your own car.
Thanks mate. Correct it’s my car and I will build it the way that I like! 👍🏻
looks awesome Trav. You should be proud of the job you have done.
Cheers mate, I am
Old School Wheels 💯
Exactly mate. Can’t beat em

The older we get the more tyre we need underneath us
Because we all have bad backs 🤣

16 foot Aeros ( 16' )
16 inch Aeros ( 16" )
Yep you are right my bad 😞
how did you source the genuine wheels complete in HDT boxes?
Hdt still make them brand new
HDT did a re release o couple of years ago mate. So are genuine but not 80s original
Didn't those wheels also come on a model of Corvette ?
Yes but slightly different these wheels have what we call the ‘dinner plate’
@TAVOTravsDIYGarage Yes , until I saw your video on restoring those wheels, I always thought they were one peice .
There is actually a 3rd piece as well, but I don’t want to use that bit
