My mate, who is a retired mechanic, was issued with a letter to stop him working on cars at his place by the Bayside Council. He would work on one or two minor repairs and services in his driveway and garage. One of our other mates who is a lawyer wrote a response to the Bayside Council. He came up with all sorts of comebacks that exist within the Local Govt. act. The right to the enjoyment of your property and sorts of legal arguments to why the actions of the Council were illegal and contrary to the spirit of the Act. The council dug their heals in as they said he was running a business and a permit to conduct a mechanical repair business was required. He ended up shutting his gate and garage door so they could not see what he was doing. Not that he was doing too much anyway. These petty councils are just overstepping the mark.
How long before they want to look in our sheds too? Where I live, if you want permission to build a shed, the council wants a complete list of all items you plan to keep in the shed, and they want access to check it when they see fit.

When asked about the councilors, the answer from the state government was that the councilors were not involved, and that there was no move to sack the councilors,. I live in Casey and got a letter threatening me of court action if I even removed tools from my work ute. I spoke to them and was told that I'm not allowed to work on any vehicle at home. I was be also told that the letter was worded incorrectly but non the less.....no work at home. I wonder.....what next,... breathing too loud probably .

My advice to all Australians, turn up to your local council meetings. No one ever asks questions or holds them accountable. That’s why they think they can do as they please.
In most council areas they are being fiercely challenged - enough that they're forcing people to 'book' a seat at a meeting & they get to say if there are empty seats, or not. They lie. If a council is under administration it has no power to implement and enforce new laws. The position of the administrator is to safely guide the council into the next election so the people of the municipality can make their decisions. Remember, on April 8, 2015 the High Court of Australia in the matter of HCA B63/2013 deemed a government entity which must include all 'local council' are in fact a trading company corporation. In simplified terms a corporation has no power to make and enforce laws. I trust the illegitimate office bearers and decision makers of Casey Council in Victoria are reading this message and contemplating their future very carefully.

Check ur neighbours…we live in Cardinia shire and had 15 unregistered vehicles on our 1.7 acre property. Only way you could see them was to stop on the road on a blind bend and look down the driveway. Been here over 40 years and had the classic cars almost as long.New neighbour way up the road moves in from suburbs and complains to council (around 2000) we get hassled about cars and end up with an ‘enforcement order’ by council. Have to build a shed and get rid of cars not housed therein. 5 years later complaining neighbour left the area.Local government needs to be cancelled.Just money hungry control freaks🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Petition signed and shared. @@davemagpie I'm not sure if you've tried, but maybe speak to your local CFA. When council hassle me about my grass being greater than 10cm they always blame the CFA rules. I'd go meet with your local CFA (who are normally just normally people like us) and get their support.

Would you require a permit to work on a car, boat or caravan 'part'? Perhaps a seat - where you need to do an upholstery repair? Or the door from a pre-WW2 car - that just needs a little carpentry done it? What about restoring the door hinge for your 70's Kingswood - that just needs a new bush made on your lathe? What about a permit for cleaning and polishing some hubcaps for an art installation in your mancave? Or make a new rod holder for your boat? What if you want to wash the bedding or put the cutlery and dishes from your caravan through your homes washing machine or dishwasher? Do you need a permit to; sew, do woodwork, some metalwork or wash and polish a cooking pot? And what becomes the difference between doing any of this or anything else at your private residence...
I’ve lived in 3 different councils all outside the metro area and never had to apply for such a permit or even heard of it the only thing I know about is you can’t store an unregistered vehicle outside your property boundary being the footpath out eg nature strip other than that all it is a cash grab and it’s going to kick them in the guts big time they will have so much back lash it’s going to be hilarious
Thanks Trav for the video. Previous Casey councils allowed developers to build estates with very narrow streets. Some residents parked their cars on the nature strip to enable emergency vehicles to access their streets as two cars parked opposite each other make it impossible especially Fire trucks to pass. Last year i was behind a fire truck rushing to a house fire in Cranbourne north that couldnt get through because of cars parked blocking their access. They had to reverse up the street and make access from another direction. This delayed their response time. To make it worse, the council were going around fining residents for parking on the nature strip. Its crazy the laws councils invoke on us.
My street has so many cars parked everywhere and makes it very tight to get through. I am one of the lucky one's that has enough room to store things out the back. the front of my property is always clear.

Back in 2000 I had a court case against my local council in Sydney because of my vintage motorcycle collection . They also tried to limit the number of registered vehicles on the property as there were 6 of us sharing the house we had 9 vehicles between us . Finally we found out the action was at the request of a local resident ( not a neighbour ) who saw the house as being a " Bikie Hangout ". And again this law has been on the statutes for over 100 years , it was just no enacted every often . Where I live at the moment there is a total ban on shipping containers for use as a storage shed because people use them rather than putting in a DA for building a shed of the same floor size . At a previous address I ran a private car hire business , which is allowable under State & council regulations but I had to submit layout plans as to where the vehicles would be parked when not in use, was forbidden to park them on the street and also had to put in a DA for the washing bay complete with a grease trap & setteling tank
I'd do a little more research just in case.. They may have amendment an existing law and added this rubbish and then said it's been around for decades. Just a thought.. I'm with you mate. we need to stick together and stand up.

The way I'm reading their response is that the PERMIT has been around for decades, it is only in the last six months or so that it has become mandatory for everybody included in the currently released list of vehicles. The permit was probably originally intended for places that wanted to set up as a wrecker, motor mechanic or vehicle boneyard. I could be wrong.
Great reporting. i really hope the outcry puts them back in their box. I'm in the Mt Alexander Council - Castlemaine. They also have some similar laws. Ie. Shipping containers, unregistered vehicles, storing large commercial vehicles and working on cars. Though, as this is Australia's hotrod centre, I've not heard of anyone getting in trouble about unreg vehicles or servicing their cars! But i think the laws are there. If they used them, there would be riots of boomer hot rodders. I expect they do only use the laws if you are being disruptive. As a side note: Our council now allows for permanent caravan camping on private land with a dwelling without permit. That's new change due to pressure from the community. Keep up the good work

My mate, who is a retired mechanic, was issued with a letter to stop him working on cars at his place by the Bayside Council. He would work on one or two minor repairs and services in his driveway and garage. One of our other mates who is a lawyer wrote a response to the Bayside Council. He came up with all sorts of comebacks that exist within the Local Govt. act. The right to the enjoyment of your property and sorts of legal arguments to why the actions of the Council were illegal and contrary to the spirit of the Act. The council dug their heals in as they said he was running a business and a permit to conduct a mechanical repair business was required. He ended up shutting his gate and garage door so they could not see what he was doing. Not that he was doing too much anyway. These petty councils are just overstepping the mark.
How long before they want to look in our sheds too? Where I live, if you want permission to build a shed, the council wants a complete list of all items you plan to keep in the shed, and they want access to check it when they see fit.
Tell them to get stuffed it’s your business what’s in your shed.

When asked about the councilors, the answer from the state government was that the councilors were not involved, and that there was no move to sack the councilors,. I spoke to them and was told that I'm not allowed to work on any vehicle at home.
I was be also told that the letter was worded incorrectly but non the less.....no work at home.

So … a family has a caravan, a tinny on trailer, couple of kids dirt bikes, couple of electric scooters, and maybe a small restoration project. Tidy yard, responsible waste disposal, noise kept down and at reasonable hours. But now they have to pay for permits, on their own property, to keep and maintain possessions bought legally with taxed income. Fugg off!

My advice to all Australians, turn up to your local council meetings. No one ever asks questions or holds them accountable. That’s why they think they can do as they please.
In most council areas they are being fiercely challenged - enough that they're forcing people to 'book' a seat at a meeting & they get to say if there are empty seats, or not. They lie. Then they prevent protests outside - they lie. They're controlled by the UN, WEF etc. They're also selling us out to the Soros 15 minute city thing. All cars coming into Australia now are fitted with 15 minute city digitals which prevent a car crossing the 15 minute line, once they're all in place. The position of the administrator is to safely guide the council into the next election so the people of the municipality can make their decisions.
Remember, on April 8, 2015 the High Court of Australia in the matter of HCA B63/2013 deemed a government entity which must include all 'local council' are in fact a trading company corporation.
In simplified terms a corporation has no power to make and enforce laws.
I trust the illegitimate office bearers and decision makers of Casey Council in Victoria are reading this message and contemplating their future very carefully.

Check ur neighbours…we live in Cardinia shire and had 15 unregistered vehicles on our 1.7 acre property. Only way you could see them was to stop on the road on a blind bend and look down the driveway. Been here over 40 years and had the classic cars almost as long.New neighbour way up the road moves in from suburbs and complains to council (around 2000) we get hassled about cars and end up with an ‘enforcement order’ by council. Have to build a shed and get rid of cars not housed therein. 5 years later complaining neighbour left the area.Local government needs to be cancelled.Just money hungry control freaks🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Would you require a permit to work on a car, boat or caravan 'part'? Perhaps a seat - where you need to do an upholstery repair? Or the door from a pre-WW2 car - that just needs a little carpentry done it? What about restoring the door hinge for your 70's Kingswood - that just needs a new bush made on your lathe? What about a permit for cleaning and polishing some hubcaps for an art installation in your mancave? Or make a new rod holder for your boat? What if you want to wash the bedding or put the cutlery and dishes from your caravan through your homes washing machine or dishwasher?
Do you need a permit to; sew, do woodwork, some metalwork or wash and polish a cooking pot?
And what becomes the difference between doing any of this or anything else at your private residence...

I’ve lived in 3 different councils all outside the metro area and never had to apply for such a permit or even heard of it the only thing I know about is you can’t store an unregistered vehicle outside your property boundary being the footpath out eg nature strip other than that all it is a cash grab and it’s going to kick them in the guts big time they will have so much back lash it’s going to be hilarious

Thanks Trav for the video. Previous Casey councils allowed developers to build estates with very narrow streets. Some residents parked their cars on the nature strip to enable emergency vehicles to access their streets as two cars parked opposite each other make it impossible especially Fire trucks to pass. Last year i was behind a fire truck rushing to a house fire in Cranbourne north that couldnt get through because of cars parked blocking their access. They had to reverse up the street and make access from another direction. This delayed their response time. To make it worse, the council were going around fining residents for parking on the nature strip. Its crazy the laws councils invoke on us.
My street has so many cars parked everywhere and makes it very tight to get through. I am one of the lucky one's that has enough room to store things out the back. the front of my property is always clear.

Back in 2000 I had a court case against my local council in Sydney because of my vintage motorcycle collection .
They also tried to limit the number of registered vehicles on the property as there were 6 of us sharing the house we had 9 vehicles between us .
Finally we found out the action was at the request of a local resident ( not a neighbour ) who saw the house as being a " Bikie Hangout ".
And again this law has been on the statutes for over 100 years , it was just no enacted every often .
Where I live at the moment there is a total ban on shipping containers for use as a storage shed because people use them rather than putting in a DA for building a shed of the same floor size .
At a previous address I ran a private car hire business , which is allowable under State & council regulations but I had to submit layout plans as to where the vehicles would be parked when not in use, was forbidden to park them on the street and also had to put in a DA for the washing bay complete with a grease trap & setteling tank
I'd do a little more research just in case..
They may have amendment an existing law and added this rubbish and then said it's been around for decades.

The way I'm reading their response is that the PERMIT has been around for decades, it is only in the last six months or so that it has become mandatory for everybody included in the currently released list of vehicles. The permit was probably originally intended for places that wanted to set up as a wrecker, motor mechanic or vehicle boneyard. I could be wrong.

I'm in the Mt Alexander Council - Castlemaine. They also have some similar laws. Ie. Shipping containers, unregistered vehicles, storing large commercial vehicles and working on cars. Though, as this is Australia's hotrod centre, I've not heard of anyone getting in trouble about unreg vehicles or servicing their cars! But i think the laws are there. If they used them, there would be riots of boomer hot rodders. I expect they do only use the laws if you are being disruptive.
As a side note: Our council now allows for permanent caravan camping on private land with a dwelling without permit. That's new change due to pressure from the community.

Have the council cleaned that filthy town up ? I went thru there 8 years ago and couldn’t believe my eyes how much rubbish was littered everywhere, look 3rd world. The councils need to go they don’t do shit, except for coming up with more revenue ideas.

Good on ya Tavo , I've lived in Hampton Park for over 30 years and beening an old mechanic have built quite a few cars over the years so the Casey council is cash grabing again . I'll be there in February 7:30pm for that council meeting to oppose this ridiculous permit system. So let's get ahead of them with a signed petition opposing these permits. We'll need many Casey residents signatures. My property is MY PROPERTY it belongs to not the council. Also FYI Casey Council instead of turning Hampton Park tip into a park when it closes is making it into a commercial transfer station with double B trucks running up and Hallam Rd 24/7 through residential area!!!!!! I've signed a petition against that too
