Narrowboat life on the beautiful Ashby Canal

- It's sunny, we're on a brand new canal and it's GORGEOUS. This is exactly what I imagined when we decided to move onto a canal boat tbh. In this episode we steer our narrowboat on to The Ashby Canal (that's "The Lovely Ashby" from now on) mooring at Burton Hastings and Hinckley, before coming to a longer stop at Stoke Golding. Featuring: charming villages, relaxing cruises, farm shop haul and lots of nonsensical commentary about various wildlife. David Attenborough I am not! But this trip was so much fun and we loved this area, so I really hope you enjoy the vlog.

Ah cheers! Complete respect for all the veggies and vegans (as a lot of my friends are!) but we are, alas, meat eaters.

Great video! We loved the Ashby too, lovely cruises, fab walks, battle of Bosworth site, pubs and the farm shops. But really the cream should go on first....

I bet Stoke Golding shoots up the property website charts after this... gorgeous! I was expecting some low level game show muzak over the farm shop haul... luckily Andrew's acapella display techniques totally won me over. 😄

Kris - a nice surprise to see a video so soon after the last. Oh, and thanks for the play list, it really helps. For people trying to find the Ashby canal on the map, look for the Ashby De La Zouche canal instead. The Ashby canal shows up as a short segment of canal that is not connected to the canal network.
I guess it depends on the map!

Beautiful video and thanks for sharing your calm and peaceful surroundings. We were looking to do the Ashby but I think there were water level issues at the time. We chose the Oxford and loved it. Have done the Kennet and Avon also. We live in Australia and the pandemic has halted our overseas trips. ❤❤❤
Thank you ❤️ We were worried about the water level too, but we were lucky I think and it was absolutely fine. It started dropping as we were coming off and we just started getting the odd bottom scrape on our last day. You could see the water had dropped by several inches! Hoping to get over to the Oxford soon!

I’ve been self employed since I graduated, doing a mix of illustration and photography (more the latter as time went on), working for brands in mostly fashion/lifestyle kind of area. Decided to try learning video as an extra skill about the start of 2022, found it really enjoyable, been making it up ever since!
